Please forgive me for gushing, but I absolutely must let the world know about Katie and Mark Lederer. They were referred to us by a friend and are truly my heroes.
My wife and I were nervous about buying our first home and didn't feel like we had any idea what we were doing. Mark and Katie held our hand throughout the entire process, making sure we understood each step along the way. They always listened to what we had to say, and returned our phone-calls in minutes rather than days. They are intimately familiar with all the neighborhoods in the East Bay, and helped us figure out not only what kind of house we needed, but also what neighborhood we wanted to be in.
They have many connections that helped out along the way. They were able to put us in touch with trustworthy friends to help with everything from financial planning & loans to electricians, plumbers, and even a guy that does granite countertops for cheap!
My wife and I are now getting settled in our first home and we owe it all to Mark & Katie. We found a 2 bedroom on the border of Albany and El Cerrito, and managed to purchase it for $10K below asking price after it had only been on the market for 11 days!! Not only have I found myself an amazing pair of real-estate agents, I've also found friends. These two are awesome.

My husband and I were total novices at the real estate game and we were searching for an agent to help us buy our first house. To boot, we have very different personalities--he's very laid back and I am more of a detail person who wants to know every tiny detail. So it was hard to imagine we'd find a good fit for both of us. We also were not really at the top of the price range, had some specific requirements, and did not want to be pressured.
But, we were thrilled when we found Mark and Katie. They truly went above and beyond for us in every possible way. They were the perfect fit for us as a couple--answering all my detailed questions but also able to put us both at ease and take care of things for us as needed. They took time to explain things about houses and point out potential problems as we looked at houses and we really felt they were on our team. We never felt rushed into making an offer and were able to take our time and find the right house.
During and after the buying process, they also helped direct us to the best people in the business--whether for the home inspection or for people to help us do repairs or remodel later. For my husband and I this was a life saver. They helped us find reputable people and get solid quotes during the inspection period so we'd know just how much we would be spending to "fix up" our house. While there was never any pressure to use these folks, it felt good knowing these were people Mark and Katie used on their own houses.
Mark and Katie are honest, direct, kind, and very professional. We were thrilled and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone buying a house in the East Bay. We'll definitely use them again ourselves too!
