Amazing spot!

I've been eating here for years but decided to write a review now.

Their items on the menu are all great. You can literally go up to the counter, close your eyes, point your finger out towards any item, and you will end up enjoying it. This place is definitely a 5 out of 5 for me. If you haven't been there before, I can confidently say that you're missing out.

Good, not great.  though this place makes pretty good subs at pretty fair prices, this visit didn't end my search for an italian-style sub on the eastern side of town on par with the "Godmother" from Bay Cities Deli in Santa Monica.

At long last I went to this Glendale institution and after plenty of "suggestions" from Mario's devotees i opted to try both the Pastrami "Bad Boy" and the "Spicy Combo" cold cut sub.

the review... well, they were very good.  better than average, but not super special.  what i have basically discovered when it comes to italian-style deli subs is that the quality of the meat/cold cuts at quality delis are pretty much the same (often they get the meat from the same purveyors:  boar's head, et al).  so... what sets one deli sub apart from the others?

the bread.

it's the bread, stupid.  the thing i believe makes Bay Cities top of the heap (and makes Mario's only very good) is the bread.  frankly, i found the bread at Mario's to be a touch on the stale side and overly toasted making eating the sandwiches a bit of a challenge (and a mess).  also, the signature "flourish" here at Mario's is to add a sliver of bread in the middle of the sub, sort of like a sub version of a big mac.  personally, i could do without the extra carbs and i found that the breadiness took away from the flavor of the sandwiches.  next time i think i'd just take it out or ask them to make it without the bread in the middle (i don't see it as a "structural necessity" as some yelp reviewers have claimed).

regarding the fresh toppings... i could have used more lettuce on my sub, and i found that my tomatoes were not truly ripe.  they were closer to that red-white-green hue of a tomato that is a touch un-ripe.  and the onions... i prefer a thin slice and the onions here were a little on the "chunky" side for my taste.  on the plus side (toppings wise), i found the avocados they add to the sandwiches to be quite a tasty and pleasant addition.  and they don't even charge extra (did you heat that Chipotle?)

Overall, i did like Mario's and would come again as i do think it ranks as one of the better sub makers on the eastern side of town, but for me my "Bay Cities-East" search continues...

i've heard good things about the Eastside Market Italian Deli, maybe i'll try them next.

I needed dinner the other day, a good one, ASAP. Had a couple hours notice to come up with a meal at home for traveling visitors on a stopover with some tired kids, and wanted to serve a delicious "home cooked" meal that everyone would enjoy, but also needed time to clean and all that fun stuff. Wanted more then just a pizza cause who knew what they were in for on the next leg of the journey.

Mario's! Gave them a call, told them I had to feed eight, and being that their sauces are "home cooked" (in the store), wanted to order a meal to go. They recommended that I purchase a quart of sauce, and have a selection of marina, pesto, garlic/basil, and Alfredo. I choose the tomato/meat as felt it would be most kid friendly, just had to warm it up. And paired with one of specialty spaghetti's that I just threw in a pot the dish was delicious and a hit, even with very tired children.

Also had them toss together a nice green salad (it was huge) for all of us to serve family style, mixed greens, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, and a great oil and vinegar dressing. The greens and veggies were fresh, and the dressing classic.

And of course, what Italian meal would be complete without decadent garlic bread, grabbed some of theirs which is ready to throw in the oven for a few minutes, and was to die for. Oh, can't forget dessert, just picked a selection of cookies and cannolis, yum.

What a great way to serve a delicious "home cooked" meal with minimal effort. And since I called in my order about an hour ahead of time, was waiting for me when I arrived. My guests were happy, I was thrilled, and wont hesitate to serve one of their dinners again.

Everyone has that one coworker who can't spell for shit, and who defiantly refuses to use Spell Check before firing off massive emails throughout the entire company. The results are often hilarious, like the time my colleague Cooper sent out a huge lunchtime email:

"We're heading over to Mario's for meatball herpes. Intrested?"

Mmmm... "herpes." How could I not be "intrested", Coop? You dipshit.

"Herpes, heroes, the letters O and P are one key away from each other on the keyboard" he would later say in his defense as a number of us sat at Mario's and laughed while gorging on a variety of amazing sandwiches. "And don't give me that Spell Check crap either" he continued, "because a spell check wouldn't catch herpes."  More laughter.

"Just say subs or hoagies next time" I suggested before devouring the last bite of my Chicken Parmigiana sandwich, which is always enormous both in size and flavor, and a must-have no matter how you spell it. I would have another the following day after a revised email from Cooper:

"Haogeis at Mario's again today?"

(After a long, deep sigh) Oh well, it's better than herpes.

Good stuff!  My favorite is the Spicy Turkey and the SOB.  I also always get their Raspberry bow-tie cookies.

This deli has a bunch of unique goodies.  Their catering items are tasty as well.

The only drawback is that it gets super busy during lunch time, so call in 20 minutes ahead.

Wow this place is so overwhelmingly packed with amazing food!
I went like 5 years ago but at the time didn't think much of this place.
Went back twice recently and fell in love with the Italian dishes and groceries this place offers.
The things I've had here (prosciutto sub, pastrami sub, house pizza, veggie pizza, eggplant lasagna) have all been amazing. Fresh ingredients, freshly prepared, and cooked right in front of my face.
Prices are also very good as you are in a market!
They even have a nice selection of wines (my favorite moscato d'asti wine is sold here!)
wow this place is thumbs up all the way!
too bad they close early :(

I'll make this short and sweet to save all parties involved from awkward feelings...

I worked/lived around downtown Glendale for almost five years, I can safely say I used to eat here at least once every week for the duration of that time. Here's all you need to know, the sandwiches are very good, the ordering system is semi-retarded, they have a sandwich that's made with Baby Jesus Salami (wtf?).

Here's why I refuse to go anymore. The last time I went I ordered a sandwich to go, promptly paid, and was about to leave. Just then the friend whose house I was headed towards called to cancel our lunch date. So I decided to just sit in their crappy makeshift eating area (next to the freezers) and eat my sandwich. Two and a half bites into my turkey sandwich, the old guy who works there (I think he's actually Mario, but im not sure) comes over and stands over my table and starts yelling at me. He starts saying, "You say to go! You must go! You no pay tax" in front of all the people there. I keep my cool and I say something along the lines of, "My plans changed, whats the big deal, ive been coming here since college, here's a damn quarter for the f-in tax." But he keeps yelling at me to leave, so i stuff my bitten into sandwich into the paper bag and walk out. All because i didn't pay the 30 cents tax by accident he had to berate me in front of all the customers and staff like I was some kind of thief.

Yeah, they have great sandwiches, but as far as i'm concerned they lost my business for life because they have terrible manners and customer service. Too bad, I love eating lunch.

Great sandwiches here.  Had the Italian combo my first time here and I couldn't stop eating it, it was so good, with the right amount of flavor, saltiness, etc.  Very filling too.  I've also tried their caprese salad, which is good... light and fresh.  I had to add a touch more of olive oil and salt, but I would do that to any caprese.

I haven't compared it head-to-head with Claro's... that might be my next project, and I honestly don't know who would win.  If I had to find something to ding Mario's about is the crappy parking situation.

BEST DAMN VEGGIE SANDWICH AROUND! Forget subway or quiznos.... Mario's is THE PLACE. The only reason I'm reviewing this place right now is cos' it's not open and I'm dyin' for a sandwich... damn it.  Tomorrow it's on.... sooooo on. Best Italian Deli & Market around; great products, great staff, & great food. Don't get any better than that. =) FYI:  Try to avoid lunch time: pretty busy. Try calling in ahead of time and ordering to-go for quick pick up.

BEFORE I GOT THERE
Most of you who work with me at ATTi know that a) I work A LOT and b) I stay in for lunch most of the time.  Well, on a Friday, I decided to clear up the calendar and go out for lunch.  When I asked my my team members where we should go, they checked Yelp and said, "Mario's, a deli".  I thought, "What?! I finally decide to go out for lunch, and these bastards want to take me to a crappy deli?"

WHEN I GOT THERE
When we arrived, I was internally pissed off when I noticed only 5 tables for patrons to sit and eat.  Fortunely, we arrived at the taiI-end of the lunch hour, so I pulled a number and was promptly called to the counter-- that was quick.

MY FOOD
The food changed my mind about this whole place.  I ordered the Italion combo sandwich and it was prepared quickly.  Luckily, I got a table and immediately and started chowing down.  The sandwich was huge and tasty-- delicious!

Best. Sandwiches. Ever. And I am not just talking about in Glendale or in LA.

It had been at least 5 years since I had my last Mario's sandwich and in between I have eaten thousands of sandwiches in SF, NY, Chicago and a bunch of other no name cities - none can match up the to the Mario's Lemon Turkey sandwich with the center bread.

I think I cried a little bit when I had that sandwich today with the Antipasto salad on the side. All the sandwiches are equally amazing and I have yet to try one I do not like. I love getting the fresh whole pepperoncinis on top.

The sandwiches are seriously amazing but there is tons more - the pasta is always made fresh daily, the Italian ices and deserts are perfectly sweet, and the Italian grocery store has all the ingredients necessary to make an authentic Italian meal.

Thank you Mario for reminding me why I used to ditch 4th period every day in high school to come and have lunch here.

What makes a fiver?

- A friendly staff
- Giant, giant delicious sandwiches full of tasty Italian meats
- The smell of tomato sauce, olive oil and garlic hanging in the air, reminding my boyfriend of his loving and deceased grandmother
- Burrata

What is burrata?
"Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese, made from mozzarella and cream. The outer shell is solid mozzarella while the inside contains both mozzarella and cream, giving it a unique soft texture."

Yeah, cheese can get a 5 star review out of me.  You hear that, businesses of Los Angeles?  Just offer me cheese, and I will give you the world.

After years of hype - and after my company moved to Glendale, I finally decided to give Mario's a whirl.

While I do agree that the "bread-in-bread" (kinda like a Big Mac with an extra bun slice in the middle of the sandwich) is a bit weird, and the overall attitude of the staff is a bit brusque, I really enjoy the sandwiches served here.

My favorite is the Spicy Italian. Served with a bag of potato chips, Sprite and some kind of Stella d'Oro cookies, lunch at Mario's takes me way back to my childhood days in NYC!

My wife is a young polish woman, and since being here in LA, she's been missing all her "old world" cuisine. So this christmas, she had a brilliant idea. She knows I'm not bad in the kitchen and ended up spending most of her gift budget on a sweet hand meat grinder.  When I opened it I was a little confused, but hell, it's kitchen gear. I'll take it all.

So for 2 months now, she keeps pointing at it saying, "When you make kilbasa?? I call mama now for recipe!"

Whoa! First off, I can't afford long distance to Lodz, and second, I don't have any sausage casings! The thing came with them, but they're those filthy mercury and asbestos laden "collagen" casings. I need FRESH, if you know what I mean. So in my search for FRESH, I hear that Mario's might have them. Mario's is italian, italians make sauseges. I am going to win!

But actually not. It's lunchtime, and the place has a pretty big crowd. They use the "take a number" method, but it's still chaos at the counter. Finally they call #45 and I go up. First thing I ask is for casings, and just like every other place I've asked, they point me to the sausages. "No just the casings! I want to make sausages!". Nope. No can do. Sorry honks! We'll have to go online.

Anyway, I'm there, and I'm hungry, so I order an italian cold cut. Once again the lady says "With everything?". Jesus AGAIN! I don't know wtf  "everything" is but I figure it must include pickles (yuck), so I say "YES! but no pickles!".

I have to say, it's a very good, HUGE ass sandwich! Unfortunately "everything" at Mario's included lots of mustard, which I don't think belongs on an italian coldcut. So next time (and there will be one) it will be everything with no mustard or pickle.

Over rated. I can only review the grocery part of the store, as I did not order anything from the deli. Pretty disappointing...

I was excited that there might be an italian grocery near my house because I am always cooking authentic northern italian dishes and sometimes have a hard time finding the right ingredients. By way of background, grew up in europe, fluent in italian... even went to cooking school in Italy.

I went to Mario's today to get ladyfingers and (real) mascarpone to make tiramisu. They had the ladyfingers, but did not have real mascarpone... just the awful domestically produced stuff (for $8!!). The grocery selection is mediocre... not terrible, but certainly not good. Nothing unique. Any of the groceries in Little Italy in San Diego blow this place away.

Here's the annoying part. I drove about 20 minutes to go to this place to check it out. When I get my package of ladyfingers and stand at the register to pay... I am ignored by several people for about 5 minutes. When I finally make eye contact with an old lady and ask if I can pay, she tells me that I need to take a number. Just to make sure there is no confusion... I ask again... "I need a number just to pay for these ladyfingers?"  Yes... I do. Stupid. And then she gives me 60 seconds of attitude for not having a number. It makes total sense to need a number to order a sandwich or get things from the deli... but, to give you money I need a number!? Thats just bad service.  Seriously, if you are going to have a stupid system, do not get mad when someone does not know WTF is going on.

I will not return. I will leave Mario's to the wannabe Soprano's characters in ill-fitting suits talking about finance while eating a meatball sub (in Glendale, no less!). For those of us searching for an authentic european or italian grocery, let's just keep looking.

This place was yummy.

My fellow foodie friend Mike took me there recently and basically what happens is you go in, take a number and examine their board.  They've got Boar's Head meats (which is a good sign) and a good selection of chips and salads to go with your sammich.

I ordered turkey on wheat (you get three slices of bread, not two) with avocado, sprouts (yep, I like sprouts), lettuce, spicy mustard, tomato and extra onion.  It was simple, relatively healthy (except for the avocado, I suppose, though that's full of healthy fats) and enjoyed.  I couldn't polish off (uncharacteristically) the third slice of bread, but I enjoyed how big the sandwich was, how absolutely full it was and how cheap it was.

Pretty good bang for your buck here.  And the guy who took my order was nice and patient (I kept switching from salami, which was what I was craving, to my healthy alternative).

Definitely going back here.

Sandwiches here are great. I come here for the spicy special they have. The problem here for me is I can not decide what to do. I cannot stop buying things. So much to choose from. Aside from cold cuts and cheeses to take home they have salads, pickles, olives and oil, cookies, pasta, wine, frozen food. Sausages, Dry cappy, various prosciutto domestic and imported. If it strikes your fancy come and see for yourself .

Definitely a top notch establishment. When I come here I have food for days on out. Never a dull moment after I come here. To my own fault I cannot eat things fast enough and the salamis may dry out some. There is seating inside.

Wow, wow. My mind is blown by this place having almost 5 stars. So I go here with my GF to catch a late lunch.  I have been looking forward to eating here based on the reviews and also based on the recommendation of a friend.  I grew up on Italian food, my mother being a "boat person" coupled with my nonna's disgust with the US, had provided me with a not so modest yet provincial diet of Southern Italian food. With this in mind, maybe you can appreciate the immense disappointment I felt while eating this food.  This is not an Italian deli in any respect.  The food is arguably Italian influenced, its more akin to Goya making a marinara sauce. Here are some reasons why they need to take the Italian-deli part out of their name.

They didn't know what a chicken cutlet was, seriously, they didn't!! What I was served was a barely cooked breaded piece of boney chicken.
I asked if they had fresh mozzarella. I was assured they did.  What they gave me was two of the tiniest slices of Hormel processed mozzarella.
The "imported Meat" deli section of any good Italian deli, at Mario's, consists of Butterball meats and other off-brand Food For Less meat by-products. They don't even serve Boar's Head as their signs suggest they do. The meat left a cold slimy taste in my mouth that I haven't had since 3rd grade school lunch meat. I've had better sandwiches at port-o-subs, for real.
Oh yeah. Caprese salad with canned mushrooms in it. LOL, WTF, /crying on the inside.. Yea these people know Italian food.
One word came to mind as my heart was slowly breaking, thinking of all the people believing this was good "Italian" food.  Misrepresentation.  I felt hoodwinked, and I felt insulted that these people had the audacity to try to pass this food off as something it isn't.

Great place. I'm basically working my way through LA magazine's "101 Cheap Eats" issue and this was in it. I like the triple-decker bread slice style, like Tony's Deli in Burbank. I loved taking a number and getting to wander around the place and not having to stand in line. Had the combo sandwich, which was fantastic.
I do, so far after one visit, prefer Tony's, but that's probably because they add more mayo and olive oil. Should probably stick to Mario's for my health.

BEST deli in Los Angeles... That's right. I'm sayin it.  Better than Nate & Al's in the 90210. Better than Art's in Studio City. Better that Giamela's (PLEASE...) Better than Larchmont Deli and Greenblatt's. I repeat. BEST.

You drive by Mario's thinkin it's just some Italian market but they're known for their sandwiches. All on 10 inch daily fresh baked bread. If i want a hot sandwich. My order is a chicken parmigiana sandwich. My mouth is watering just typing this and i can't go there today cause they're close on Sundays. DAMN.... I also go for the meatball sandwich, the garlic roast pork. The BBQ beef is good but prepare for the mess cause of all the sauce.... If i get a cold sandwich, i order an imported prosciutto. Never disappoints. Delicious... I sometimes get the mortadella, the Genoa salami or the sopressata... grab a canoli while you're at it. They're made fresh.

The crowd can be too much at lunch time... It's a very popular takeout place. SOME ADVICE:  1st time there, when you walk in, take a number right away. Newbies are always standing around not knowing what to do. It'll save you some time & grief... get a bag of chips & a soda or juice too. Lots to choose from.

Mario's also serve good pasta dishes. Excellent for take-out.  I usually go for the linguini in clam sauce, the meat ravioli or the eggplant parmigiana. All good. All come with garlic bread....

Ready-made foods & sauces are in the coolers in the front of the store like pizza sauce, sausages, tiramisu, etc... also different types of olives and potato salads in various deli sizes are available. Italian cookies, pastry, panettone... Don't get the "x-tra egg potato salad".  You'll be shaking afterwards from it... HAHAHA.

Go there and tell Mario or Jim that I sent you... Tell them to order more of the Nutella in the big jar. The small ones just aren't lasting.

Very similar to Claro's, as far as the market goes, but the sandwiches can not be beat!  Their sandwiches are HUGE.  They use fresh bread and make it a triple-decker!  They also sell some pretty darn good cookies; some you can't find a Claro's, some are better at Claro's but they are all good.  There are a few tables and chairs.  But this place gets busy at lunch time.  Be sure to take a number as soon as you walk in to minimize your wait time.

Best hoagies anywhere near L.A.  I dream of them like a lover.  Excellent meat, bread, variety and preparation.  True story:  I am moving to Glendale in few weeks from the aggravating hipster colony of Los Feliz.  One of the main reasons I'm moving is for Mario's.  My fiance bought me a Mario's license plate frame from for Xmas.  Seriously.  These sandwiches are divine.

Great place for sandwiches and Italian supplies. They make all the sandwiches fresh with your choose of meats and cheeses. If you want to make your own sandwiches, get some to take home.
If you need pasta, sauce, oil, cookies, anything- you can find it there. The cheese selection is great. They will grate the cheese for you.

If you don't want to cook, there is a selection of home made refrigerated and frozen meals. We just had the frozen chicken parm and it was pretty good.

If you want some sweets, the pizzelle selection is great.

I am a foodie in the extreme, and when I moved to Los Angeles from Ventura county I made sure that I looked up all the gourmet, authentic delis that I could find that I might not have had access to previously. One of the first places I visited was Mario's Italian Deli, and now I am completely content. Although wary of moving to a big city, having access to Mario's made up for it a few percentage points!

I don't know much about their history, who started it, is it a family run business and all that. All I know is that they are one of the best, if not the best Italian deli that I have ever encountered. They're place just smells like a deli, like the one my father took me to long ago every week when I was a kid. Perhaps I am just in olfactory nostalgia mode, but Mario's delivers a wide variety of sandwiches at the main counter, and has almost every conceivable Italian canned goodie that you would ever need.

There is also a big refrigerator for prepared sauces (like pesto, Alfredo, clam sauce and marinara), fresh cheeses, and other some specialty Italian confections that require chilling, including desserts and 'homemade' frozen dinners, which are actually quite good. A huge selection of olives, oils, pastas, anchovies, and other Italian gourmet specialties on 5 large isles sustains us through home Italian cooking experiments.

What I most like about Mario's is there vast array of sandwiches, mild ones, spicy ones, cold and hot meals that will deliver instant Italian sub heaven. You gotta try the S.O.B. sub - which comes with spicy Sopressata and oven-roasted Chicken vinegar and olive oil, made with all the fixins... lettuce, tomato, mustard, mayo and onions. Lisa and I have one at least every two weeks, they are so good.

For foodies like us, Mario's is a diet staple. Prices are decent, and the variety of good sold makes this an Italian shopping must!

The best sandwiches in Glendale, by far. Everything I've gotten here is so fresh and delicious. My favorite is the bad boy sub with honey maple turkey - it comes with avocados, spicy italian pepper, lettuce, tomato, cheese, mayo, and mustard. You could also get it with pastrami which is also great. The bread is toasted and the meat is always hot. It's seriously a party in my mouth. I always call in because they take about 20 minutes to prepare.

Been living in Glendale for a long time and have been going to Mario's for over 10 years. Their imported prosciutto (Italian) is amazing, I have that at least once a week. The other cuts are absolutely delicious (e.g. spicy salami).
The staff is alwasy nice and willing to give you a sample before you order a sandwich. They also have a good selection of imported sodas.

I have almost come to terms with the fact that dutch crunch bread just does not exist in Los Angeles- hence the 4 stars. Still, these sandwiches are pretty darn good. They have many different types of salami and turkey (mostly Boar's Head Meats), and other specials that include lamb, roast beef, GARLIC roast beef (mmm!), tuna salad, chicken salad, etc., etc...

I've tried a couple different sandwiches, but I usually stick with either the oven roasted turkey, garlic roast beef, salami, or chicken salad sandwich. Very rarely will I be able to finish an entire sandwich in one sitting. They are definitely not stingy with these bad boys. And since I am obviously not the only fan of this place, most times it can get pretty packed. If I start feenin', I'll usually just call in while I'm on my way. Trust me, it's way more convenient.

All in all, this is a great deli- quality meats, hefty sandwiches, and a wide array of Italian pastas, candies, cookies, home-cooking, and more. Yummo.

Huge sandwiches.  Real imported Italian meats and cheeses.  Pretty big Italian grocery.  Even has a big selection of imported sodas!

ron jeremy might have the biggest shlong in porn, but mario's has the thickest sausage by far (yes, i like using outdated porn as reference for my reviews).

have you ever tried mario's sausages? holy crap they are tasty. and for roughly $2.50ish a pound, you can buy up as many tasty but cheap sausages as you want to go! i recommend the spicy ones because frankly, the other sausages look a bit thin and limp. i don't know about you, but thin and limp sausages don't exactly excite me. best thing is that you can cook them at home at your own leisure! they are especially perfect for nights when you want a good sausage but don't want to deal with the hassle of going to the local bar to find one. and imagine this, these sausages aren't attached to hairy bodies that sometimes fart in the middle of the night. sweet.

200th review and growing!

order the BAD BOY SANDWICH...o my holy lord, it is tasty! i ALWAYS get the combo, but today, i had a wild hair up my ass and wanted to try something new....

the sandwich is:
toasted bread (all three slices of it; texture perfection)
honey mustard (which i usually avoid, but it works symbiotically )
red, italian peppers (fu¢k yah!)
avocado (thick, hearty slices, almost slabs)
melted provolone (dank!)
onions, lettuce, and tomato
YOUR CHOICE OF MEAT between Honey Maple Turkey with BBQ sliced Chx Breast - or- Pastrami ...
--------------
you have the option of pastrami OR honey maple turkey and chicken breast...i opted for the turkey and chicken...it was the BOMB...like BOMB....it took forever to make, because it's a toasted sandwich, but worth the wait!!
only 4 stars because the lady who made my sandwich was a complete bitch.
the sandwich was 5 stars.

Good food, very great choice of meats and other food.  Whenever this place is busy it's like a free for all.  Make sure to grab a ticket number.  A bit on the expensive side, but one of the most legit places Glendale has to offer.

Their sandwiches are really great.  Also, if you haven't tried the pasta shells, those are really tasty.  We always get them for parties, you can get them cold and heat them up at home.  It's making me hungry just thinking about them!

They also have a great selection of deli meats and cheeses where they slice it up for you.

Ok, so I'm not into sandwhiches.  Shoot me already.
My best friend Joey always gives me a hard time about this, but really: cold cuts on two slices of bread with lettuce? YUCK.
Mario's is different.  It's I-TALIAN.  It's good!
I half wish I packed sandwhiches like these to school as a kid, but am half glad I didn't (or I might be a member of the ever growing population of diabetic children).
Enough serious talk... It's quick, cheap, and big enough to save half for your mid afternoon snack.
You won't find me at subway.

My friend introduced me to this place.

Great Sandwiches!!
I personally love the meat there.
The bread in the middle of the sandwich sometimes makes it hard to eat since the sandwich slides.

A lot of times the place is packed, so you may have to wait, but that it is a sign that tells you it's popular.

Mario's rocked my taste buds for almost a year as a lucky employee of a nearby business(not lucky to be working there, but lucky to be within lunch distance of this place). If you don't have 20-30 minutes to wait around for your order during the lunch rush, check their website and call in your order. Much much easier.

Alas, everyone should go into Mario's at least once in person prior to telecommunications just to see the joint and soak in the deli vibe. While the food counter is the main draw, there's a good stock of Italian products on the shelves around the store and at least 3 refrigerated cases of beverages to choose from.

Now, a lot of people flock to the hot or cold massive subs and that's fine. But I'd also recommend going out on a limb sometime and trying the spaghetti and meatballs or ravioli. They're equally overwhelming in portion size and authenticity. The antipasto salad makes for a light lunch with plenty of mortadella, cheese, olives, and peppers packed onto a bed of iceberg lettuce. Practically everything you order at Mario's is Italian-size which leaves leftovers for later!

A severely awesome lunch or dinner spot for tasty Italian deli style food. If you're blessed to live or work within walking distance, you may want to do just that and WALK because you'll need more exertion that that to burn off the calories you'll pack on from this fare.

Awesome. Whenever I'm in the mood for a great meatball sandwich, I make my way here, they have a bunch of other great items to choose from, but I'm generally a creature of habit and find it difficult to sway from a "found love" once smitten, call me ole fashioned, but that's just how it is.

definitely check it out.

usually a line, just tough it out.

i walked in here and it just looks like a perfect sandwich spot. i have been searching the eastside for my goto lunch spot and this place blew me away. you can get anything here.   i got the cold cut combo and the meats and cheeses were genuine and tasty.  the bread was really nice.  perfect except i took out the middle piece of bread.  otherwise  just hit the spot. large selections of drinks from mexican coke to fancy pants italian sodas.   it is the winner of my sandwich hunt hands down.
