Jack & I just spent almost  a week there. We got a decent rate online on their website (a little under 50 per nite) and I got one nite on http://hotels.com for a sat nite at a little under 70.

Very friendly staff. One room was "standard". Door=window. Had bath tub. The other "estuary view" had nice balcony and shower only. It was very quiet. Nice view. Wired hispeed internet worked fine. wireless did not connect.

For the price we paid it was fantastic.

BEDBUGS. Beware the bedbugs. Big, hungry, vicious, awful bedbugs. Eight days and 20 Benadryl later, I still have itchy welts.

If that's not enough for you, there's:
- They know about the bedbugs. All we got was a mild apology in the way of compensation for lousy sleep and a body full of ugly, swollen, insanely itchy bites. Seriously, people with Shingles look less miserable.
- Insanely loud appliances (toilet refills every five minutes, fan grinds and clacks away all night)
- Paper thin walls (I swear I'm usually a sound sleeper!)
- No bathtub
- Odd, inconvenient location

If you ask me, they owe me $50 and a week of my life back.

You want a decent $50 hotel in the Bay Area? In this economy, all you gotta do is get on Priceline and bid for it.

Scoring the $39- $49/night rates are the best deal in the Bay Area, by leaps and bounds.  Rooms are clean with fridge and micro, and include decent speed wi-fi. Looking to hole up away from prying eyes and not have the funk of a motel 6 on your back? This place is for you!

Caveats: Beware of the non-refundable purchase which will automatically charge your credit card, vs. paying cash upon checkout. Evidence is ugly. They absolutely do not do early check in. The morning pastries are pretty much 7-11 fare, but whose really checking out the next morning anyway?

I have stayed here twice in the last 2 months.  Pretty decent hotel.  I didn't get the low rates other reviews mentioned but maybe those are Mon-Thurs rates.  I stayed on weekends.

Decent sized rooms, feels like a motel but clean and well taken care off.  We got a room with a patio overlooking the marina the second time.  The view was worth it.  The rooms come with a small fridge and microwave which are great for storing and heating up leftovers.  There are no bath tubs tho, just standing showers.  There's no central air either.  Just wall units.  Rooms with a patio have a sliding door which lets a lot of air in.  Other rooms just have a large window.  If you are security conscious, you might want a room on the second floor.

The breakfast is just juice, coffee, pastries, cereal and fruits.  Pretty standard fare.

It's close to downtown Oakland but in a nice quiet neighborhood without the hustle, noise and traffic of downtown.  There are shops and restaurants places nearby.

Great place.  Just wish I got the cheaper rates others mentioned.

I really enjoyed Marina Village Inn.

(+) comfortable and competitively priced very clean rooms with mini-fridge and nice waterfront views of oakland.

(-) located just on the other side of the webster tube, which could be difficult to deal with when coming from oakland if you are not familiar with the area. otherwise a find!

If you can score the $60 rooms here, they are the best deal you'll find anywhere in the Bay Area.  They're well sized, clean, and include mini-fridge and ironing board.  The breakfast is pretty basic but an improvement over most budget hotels.  Best of all, it's in a nice area and the worst you'll have to deal with is a loud family playing in the pool.

It's pretty easy to catch the buses going in to Oakland - just walk about a quarter mile to the strip mall and look for the #19.  Going back, I couldn't figure out where to catch the bus and ended up just walking the tunnel.  Not something I'd chose to repeat, but survived.

The Marina Inn looks a little old on the outside, but the room was clean and comfortable.  Some rooms have a view of the marina and downtown Oakland.

Pros:  1) close to downtown Oakland, w/out actually being in Oakland;
2) close to shopping centers on Alameda,
3) free wi-fi (that's actually at decent speed),
4) toiletries from Bath & Body Works.
5) microwave and fridge.

Con:  no bathtub.

Not a bad place at all...
If you have the time & patience, I strongly recommend booking a last minute price, it was much cheaper.

The room was smaller then expected, and the closet space was a little strange.  Half the closet was taken up with a weird safe and cabinets.

They didn't have a balcony or bay view, despite that we asked for one.  It was a little noisy while people were still in the pool.

I was very dissapointed by the non welcoming attitude toward all staff we encountered.  Rooms were clean.  Great views.  But we blocked off ten rooms for a wedding party months in advance.  This blocking off of roos for out-of-town guests is courteous and supose to be at a discounted rate for giving them so much business.  They changed the prices when guests checked in -that did not match what or insert stated in our invitations.  This hotel aspect was my only complaint for the entire process and all the vendors used for our wedding.

Recently I started working full time in Oakland, and knowing that the daily commute from Santa Rosa was going to be a grind I began looking for a relatively inexpensive place to stay to give me an occasional respite. Marina Village is a mid-range hotel, probably 30-40 years old, with rooms comparable to a Holiday Inn or Hilton Garden Inn. The location on the marina, in a business park, means it's extremely quiet at night, and relatively safe. To have a nice little hotel like this, just five minutes away from downtown Oakland, is a godsend. And if you book online at the hotel's website, you can often score a single room at rates anywhere from $49-$69!!! That is an INCREDIBLE deal, cheaper than any of the budget hotels in the city of Oakland, and a helluva lot safer (and quieter). I've stayed here 4 or 5 times in the last two months, and have had a great experience every time. The rooms are nicely redone, in the manner of a Hampton or Garden Inn, with new furniture and coffee maker, fridge, microwave, wall safe and a decent work area. Most rooms are located off the interior corridors, although a few (like the one I had last night) have exterior doors. It really doesn't matter. I love going for walks along the marina in the evening, although you do have to watch out for vicious gangs of ducks that sometimes chase after you. The breakfast is nothing special, toast, cereal, fruit and coffee, but it's better than nothing. I would recommend this hotel to anyone; tourists, business travelers, families with or without children. But remember to book ONLY on the hotel's website--they always have the best rates.
