I stay at the Marriott hotels whenever there are no B&Bs in the area and they have generally been pretty good to me over the years. My husband was back in the "Rey" for business this week so I came down to check this one out.

First of all I think the look of the circular drive and lobby is really chic, the furniture is elegant and the decor in Glow is very nicely done too. The service from all the staff we encountered was top notch. Everyone spoke english very well and attended to our needs when asked.

For $240 a night I thought the room might be a little larger and might have a few more amenities like a mini bar. This is probably the smallest room I've ever stayed in at a Marriott and likely the most expensive.

We found ourselves shelling out additional cash for old skool broadband from an outside company which provides the slowest internet on the planet. I'm shocked we don't have wi-fi here. When's the last time you were glued to a wall? If you're going to pay for internet skip this, it's just useless. I'm sure Peet's is open late enough to accommodate.

The room service menu is more expensive than the Fairmont and nowhere near the quality. Juice from concentrate... $5 stale croissants. So skip that. The bar in the lobby had some nice cocktails and wine to choose from but it's really really overpriced. I think there was about a 400% mark up on my glass of cheapo bubbly. So alcohol and breakfast FAIL. I haven't been for a meal in Glow but my hubby assures me it's pretty good.

All in all, the downstairs decor and the service were top notch but the value was questionable.

This Hotel has been upgraded over the past 2-3 years. The very "Orange" Glow Lounge is nice and they did a great job with the lobby.  The Concierge level lounge has a good breakfast.

The only reason this Hotel isn't rated higher is the location. This part of the MDR is fairly dead unless Cheese Cake Factory and Chart House are considered "Hot Spots".

The price isn't bad for a West-side hotel and the cool thing was this hotel allowed me to work the expense account up to the next level-Santa Monica.

I am here for work on the eighth floor right over the open air bar. I just read a review stating the noise wouldn't end until around 2-3. I'm exhausted and tired and all I hear with windows closed and shades drawn is the incessant pounding of bad dance music and drunken chatter. Move the lounge or don't book rooms on Friday nights right above the lounge.

I called them, they said I couldn't be moved. Offered to send up ear plugs, got ear plugs, finally got to sleep. When I left, no apologies, no mention of the night before.

I will never stay here again.

One of my minor regrets in life is never having been to an Indian wedding. I'd wear a sari, maybe paint on a bindi and dance like a Bollywood star. Sadly, I don't have any Indian friends so this ain't happening anytime soon (although one of my collegues at work is Indian and single so maybe, just maybe, an Indian wedding invite may be in the cards... )

Luckily for me, however, I do know some Persians, and last night I learned they know how to party like it's 1999 at a Persian style wedding. To our delight, there were belly dancers, more rice than you can shake a stick at, and the bride and groom danced like a disco era Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire.

The Marriott was a smart choice for the wedding with the ceremony taking place at the top floor overseeing the harbor and all the boats.  The reception area was well organized with the buffet set up outside the ballroom which was just set ablaze with the most gorgeous hothouse fiery flowers. I don't know nuthin' bout weddings but I know this one was a good one - the bride and groom were radiating such happiness, it was better than a Bollywood movie.

This place has a sparkling new quality to it (contrast w/ the Marriott downtown which feels old).  There's a great open air vibe as if to welcome you to the beach which is only a few blocks away.  There's even an outdoor lounge where you can relax and have drinks al fresco style, w/ convenient heat lamps for the chillier late nights.  Unfortunately for us, we happened to stay there on Thanksgiving, so NOTHING was open, not even the restaurant.  They had a limited room service type of food menu which was way overpriced and underwhelming.

The rooms are quite nice though, w/ a great view of Venice Beach and the surrounding town.  There were tons of cable channels and even HBO.  We did catch the breakfast buffet the next morning, which was pretty standard w/ bagels, toast, fruit, eggs, etcetc along w/ an omelet station.

This is a great place to stay if you want to be close to the beach (which is a must see btw).  There are tons of shops around as well as eateries and bar/restaurants.  One day is enough though, you'll get bored for any longer period!

In a span of 18 months, I attended three weddings at the Marina Del Rey Marriott.  Those three weddings are three of the most fun weddings I have ever attended, and they each had their own flavor.

The view from the helipad is amazing!

The lounge at the Marriott is also a hot spot for celebs.  We've seen Dennis Rodman a couple of times.

The food was amazing at all of the receptions and the rooms were also quite comfortable.

I highly recommend this particular Marriott!

Very important thing at the end of each convention day (which doesn't end at 5 but generally much later after parties and business dinners): a comfortable bed.  And here, the Marina Del Ray Marriott excels.  The most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on.

However, please get rid of that hideous nightclub/lounge bar with the most godawful music I've heard in a long time, and which kept me awake way too long.

So: five stars for the bed.  1 star for the lounge in your hotel.

I ended up here on the fourth of July. It is a good place to see fireworks in los angeles. I was visting a relative so it wasn't a great party place for me personally but a lot of people were screaming on the balconys. I  find the atmosphere in the hotel  similar to Mandalay bay in Las Vegas-mixture of families and younger people.  The rooms are spacious. They have a vegas type lounge area downstairs too called glow.  Parking is valet or 3.00 across the street.

NOTE: Food is okay but not many vegetarian options.

Fancy place to spend the night! Interior like a mini casino you'd find in Vegas, minus the slot machines and the overpowering smell of smoke!

We enjoyed our stay here, took advantage of the lobby bar, marina views and the Bath & Body Works soaps and shampoos.

As my fiancee mentioned, we didn't enjoy the enforced valet parking.  We're already paying $26/night for parking, does that mean we have to tip you every time too?  Nah! But thanks for leaving us ice cold Fiji water on our last day out!

Awesome spot- the location was kind of weird to find the first time, but it has a pretty nice view all around and the room we were in was very clean and well taken care of.

The staff was alright, but I can't say I'm a fan of the "no choice" valet parking- that mess is ridiculous.

It'd be a 3, but +1 for the AWESOME price I got on http://priceline.com ($130 a night).

If you opt to ditch your baby mama and marry that lazy-eye heifer you met at the club last year, then you should consider this place for a wedding!

Went to a wedding this evening on the heli pad of this hotel.  The view was amazing!  You'll never get a vantage point of The Marina like this.  Whoa.

The staff was smooth, cocktails very good and food was VERY tasty.  There isn't much more to say.  It was a great event that ran seamlessly.

Don't half step.  Park valet or just park in Venice across the street (across Washington) where there are no permits required.

Wow, my 400th yelp review.

Wedding reception in the Bayview room - amazing.  The views were great (almost made me want to move back to LA), and overall this was one of the best wedding receptions I've been to.  Granted, that has more to do with the people and the planners than the venue, but it provided a great space without being too overboard.  It's easy for penthouse/roof-type-things to be so over the top that they take away from the experience, but this didn't do that.  Solid.

Attention big ballers: Marriott MDR is a great place to party.  The location is key.  The posh lobby is appointed with an over the top club/restaurant.  The rooms are tastefully luxurious and comfy.  The service is very friendly and helpful.  Really enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi.

So why only 3 stars?  The noise.  Ended up with a room facing inland and could hear all the noise from the open air club downstairs till 2 or 3 am.  And that was an 8th floor room with the windows closed and shades drawn.  I expect a hotel of this caliber to have better sound insulation, especially when there is an open-air club on the ground floor.  It didn't help that I had to be on the beach by 6:30 am for a race.  If you happen to be staying here on a Friday night, take my advice and get a room on harbor side of the building... unless you plan to be in the club ballin.

I'll leave the review of the rooms to those who stay here.  I live in LA, I don't need a room.

This review is for those of you who'd venture into the hotel bar called "Glow".  Very cool -- orange lit walls of booths and fireplaces with crushed glass populate a couched patio space.  Waitresses and DJs.  A waterfall fountain.  Suprisingly chic for a Marriott in MDR.  Go have a cocktail now.

UPDATE: Went again on a Saturday night.  The Special Lady Friend and I had a good dinner with a big group of friends, who decided to move the party, and we decided on Glow.

Valet parking $12??  Noticing our anger, the valet kindly helped us out -- details withheld to protect the innocent.  In any case, park on Washington if the self-parking is closed.  This is not the Standard, but they'll charge you like they wanna be.

Cocktail waitresses were very-friendly and have no problem whatsoever if you start a tab on one side of the patio and find yourself drawn to a fireplce on the other.  They pool thier tips, so you don't have to stick to one spot.  Great for minglers and those who love to flirt, converse, or just spy on someone...  A bonus: the bar out on the patio seems to have disappeared to make more room -- not necessary but more open space is always a plus.

Three starts for moderately passable MDR/Soho bastard child with a good urban outdoor vibe.  Music: Unobtrusive Club.  I see this place becoming moderately popular, but "Glow?"  Name it something else.

Favorite west LA hotel! This place is top-notch. We got a great rate, and were shocked with the five star service. The valet was always on time and friendly. Our room faced the marina and we could see all the beautiful yatchs. Tons of amazing restaurants nearby. Glow, the club/lounge, on the lobby level was the happening scene on the weekends. Even, George Clooney was there the night we went!

The room service was not the best, but served all night long which was a plus.

The pool was very small and not much fun, but we spent most of the time at the beach!

We did not realize how close we were the the ocean. You could walk to Ventura Beach and be in the sand in 10 minutes.

Also, the hotel has free bikes to take and bike all the way up to Santa Monica. We had a lot of fun on Fourth of July riding up and down the boardwalk.

I definitely recommend this hotel for any upcoming stays in LA. Close to the airport, downtown, and Hollywood.

Our group of three families loved it!!  A+++

This is a pretty chill place. it has a lovely bar and lobby.
I just hate driving up and being whisked outta my car and handed a key...then having my bags taken out of my trunk! ah! its just too much. i dont like Valet and its not about the price ($24) its about having an option. anyway other than that the hotel is neat. beds are super comfy.
but what wins me is the VIEW...beautiful!
oh yeah expect to pay anywhere from $220-400 for a reg room.

The lobby is an an aesthetic mess that would make hardcore feng-shui followers recoil in horror - a queasy mishmash of flavors and styles. Guys, if you're going for minimalist, stick with it - don't place 40 super-extra dull couches in the lobby along with 20 plants and nature sounds coming out of the speakers - walking into a lobby shouldn't feel like you've stumbled upon a sequel to Gorillas In The Mist.

The first thing I noticed when the elevator reached my floor was the unusual pungency of the air freshener they sprayed. The smell didn't dissipate for my entire stay. It made me feel like I was staying at a bed and breakfast in Boca Raton, Florida.

The rooms are wildly overpriced for what they are- they're decent, they're comfortable, but missing that sexiness and zest one desires from a hotel room. This hotel definitely ain't pimpin'. (But neither are The W Hotels, mind you.) Also: no personality. I don't need four different varieties of HBO and The Golf Network  included with the cable; I don't need 24-hour room service (on second thought, I lie, I do need 24-hour room service, this is actually ESSENTIAL). I don't even particularly need the cute bottles of cheap conditioner and shampoo in the shower.

I also don't need a telephone next to the bathroom stall. Having a phone conversation while in the shitter isn't high on my priority list.

But I do need personality from a hotel.

If you're a family of four visiting L.A., then by all means stay here - it's close enough, yet safely far away from,  the pack of tourists near the beaches of Santa Monica. And the valet dudes are fast and reliable.

Doesn't quite do it for a young'n like me though..

Marriott? another WTF?  I didn't even order room service, but magically, I have a collection of tall drinking glasses with half torn saran wrap on them outside my door... all day!  Should I pick them up?  In addition, when I walk from the elevator, I know I am getting close to my room  because I pass the fragrant Cheesecake Factory bag o' trash that has been four doors down for 14 hours.  I have observed maids and Marriott employees walk past this collection of detritus all day!

We stayed here after a return flight from overseas for 12 hours before connecting home to the East Coast.  It was a good hotel, Marriott is really on the up and up.

1.  The lobby is gorgeous.  Very LA, very cool, very welcoming.

2.  Great area.  It was an easy walk to Venice Beach, good restaurants, etc.

3.  Great room.  Maybe we got lucky, but the room was expansive, great layout and very clean.  The only issue was there was no bathtub (we had our 1 year old with us).

4.  Great bars.  The locations in the hotel were very good, very trendy and were great to meet up with some friends.

before i purchased some nights at this hotel i'd never even heard of marina del rey i don't really get past santa monica when im in la.

i was pleasantly surprised the lobby is gorgeous and smells like yummy candles. they have this tall glass container where they have infused water for the guests to enjoy last time i was there it was mango orange and mint i wanted to take a big gulp cup of that stuff to go it was so delicious

anywho the rooms are really nice try to get a room that faces the beach because on the other side is a view of some strip mall with this killer shrimp place.

the room was spotless except for the silk runner at the foot of the bed it has shmutz on it. im sure they looked nice in the beginning but a silk bed accessory is not exactly practical for a hotel either you have to constantly clean them or they just have crap on them like this one did.

Great ambiance in the Glow lounge. Room service took 45 minutes at least to bring up one bottle of champagne, which is why they did not get a 4 star review. The staff was helpful, the room was nice but a little small, and we even had a junior suite. I am waiting for Marriott to start giving wi-fi for free, because you have to pay 9.95 for it otherwise. Beautiful location and the lobby is really nice too. Great place to stay if you wanna be closer to the airport and its a pretty short drive to Hollywood on the 10.

beautiful view, its all about view view view here.  the beautiful ocean is not very far.  it has a classy little lounge that's not bad (the Glow) business center available, great beds, flat screen TV, restaurants near by and great local bar life in the area.  don't stay on the first or second floor if you don't have too !!  the music is very loud from the lounge.  negatives would be valet.  (who wants someone driving their car ?? bleh...) an no free wifi ?  you'd think that would come along with the price of the room.  over all i think the view is enough to win anyone over.
