14 reviews for Marina Beach Park
My friend and I took her dog to the off-leash area here last weekend and I was pretty impressed by the location, the proximity to the water, and the huge space.
There is plenty of room for the dogs to run around, play fetch, sniff each other, etc., while the owners have the ability to relax and check out the amazing view. It's fun to sit on a log and watch the ferries pass back and forth.
There is no separate area for shy dogs, so be prepared to keep an eye on your dog if he/she tends to be this way. Some of the dogs are more aggressive and some owners are a little more lazy about keeping an eye on them.

This park has got it all: playground, dogs, boats, and beach! My son was in heaven perched on the foot bridge connecting the harbor to the park, watching boats being moved in and out of the water. He also worked up quite a sweat running around the play apparatus, enjoying frequent breaks by the water, especially where he could view his canine friends on the beach.
It's really a nice beach with an awesome view of the Olympic mountains. You can take a nice stroll on the beach on the people's side. There are picnic tables, benches, and playgrounds. This would make a nice family outing. The only two negatives for me is that dogs are not allowed on the people's side. I thought the parking lot was kinda small..and can see parking being a problem in the summer.
I am writing my report on the off leash dog park in an off leash review of this park.
I try and make a point of getting Oscar here at least once a week. The dog has a blast, and this place doesn't stress me out like Magnusen does sometimes. I've been here on the weekends when it gets pretty busy, but even then it's really not too bad.
If you have access to tide tables (i.e. the world-wide-interweb) plan on coming here on a really low tide day. On low tides you can walk out about a 1/2 mile on a sandbar that becomes exposed, and large tide pools, about a foot or two deep, form around it. The low tide days are the most fun I've had in a long time!!

Sunny Edmonds, hiding a dog park from me? How long did you think you could keep this secret form me?!
When I heard the rumors around the dog park I felt a bit betrayed to be honest. Yes, I'm one of those dorks who enjoys ferry rides and happily will detour a trip to go through Edmonds.
Down Admiral, over the rail road tracks and down the winding road behind and beyond the marina and dry dock, they've hidden a little gem of a park with no signage.
The 'people' side of the park is nice and sandy with picnic tables and a beautiful view. Also somekind of kid play thingy and a small greenbelt to lay on. Popular spot for kites.
The dog park entrance is an unmarked, double gate by a set of porta-potties. It did not disappoint. My pup blazed off triumphantly towards the water once inside.
If the tide is in, it is a tad cramped; but the regulars are very friendly and there is a long stretch to play ball. There is still loads to see and smell for the dogs. My dog loves playing on the huge drift wood logs.
If the tide is out, there is acres of space across slimy rocks and sand. Wonderful space to get out and run; however, keep an eye on your dog as they can run straight under the pier when the tide is out and end up joining the picnic tables on the 'people' park, which is strictly prohibited.
Perfect place for a sunny afternoon when we don't feel like driving all the way out to Redmond or aren't in the mood for the crowds at Magnuson. I can stroll along the beach looking at shells while the dog entertains himself. The occasional clam spitting water is a newly found form of entertainment for my dog. WOW that can go for hours.
The good:
+ Nice water station and ample doggie bags
+ Benches and drift wood to hang out while the dogs play
+ lots of space and things to discover
+ swimming is an option
+ amazing view for the people to enjoy
The bad:
+ low tide smell depending on the day
+ parking can be tricky on nice days
+ sand in the car for the next month
+ the rocks/barnacles/shells can be hard on sensitive doggy feet, check those toes for cuts of irritation

This review is specifically for the off-leash area. Please take that into consideration!
My dog loves the beach. He also loves to be off-leash. A park that combines the 2 and isn't Magusson? Oliver was a bit perplexed!
I usually don't have much fun when we go to the dog park; I'm left sitting on a bench or log while Oliver sniffs out a few new friends or foes. He's not really one for fetch, if there's other things to do, so I'm just a bystander waiting until he's so tired that he comes back and barks at me until I figure out he's ready to leave. Today, here at the Marina Beach at low tide was the most fun I've had at the dog park.
The off leash area is usually pretty small, but very well-kept. There is no barrier between big and small dogs, so be prepared to pull a rott or pit off of your poodle. Most dogs that I've seen are preoccupied with the water; fetching sticks or floaty toys. This always seems to leave my dog, who is still fairly young and not used to just heading out in any kind of water, alone on the beach staring forlornly out at the older dogs that are swimming and gambolling about.
With low tide comes a large swath of rocky beach, covered in barnacles, lettuce kelp and tide-pools. If the tide is far enough out, there are a couple of really fun sand bars that are past this rocky denizen of crabs, clams and...whatever else clings to life in the shallows of Puget Sound. Oliver had a fantastic time researching each crevice and pool and running back to both my bf and me to make sure we were seeing all of the cool stuff that he was. We got onto the sand bar (after making him wade a bit, then carrying him) where he was entranced at dipping his feet and legs into the water and marvelling at seaweed passing by. I had a great time doing pretty much the same thing.
I have to say that I'm suddenly inclined to know the tide schedule, so that we can go back when this occurs again. Watch yourself at red-tide season, though.

I've been to both the park and the off-leash area, but this review is strictly for the OLA.
I really liked it. It was spacious, but not HUGE, it wasn't like Marymoor or Magnusson, where it feels like an epic trip to go there. It is fenced in (partially) with double gates at the beginning. There is a big beach to play on, logs and rocks and lots of stuff for the dogs to jump on, over, and under. There are watering stations, which are nice. My issue with this place is that it is only partially fenced in, when the tide is out the dog can go under the piers and escape. The area that IS fenced in, the fence is gapped at the bottom and my ten pound terrier puppy wiggled underneath with no issue whatsoever.
I'd recommend this park to bigger dogs or dogs that stick close and know what "come" means, for those of you that have dogs like mine, stay at another location unless you want your dog on a leash the whole time.

Ahhhhh....I luv the smell of low tide in the morning....various dead/half decomposed sea mammals and crustaceans...ahhh..... mixed with the smell of fresh creosoted pilings...ahhhh.....
Actually when the ferry comes blasting into the dock behind the wild-eyed drunken Captain there are plenty of things to do and see here.
Seriously this place is a nice place to spend a typical Edmonds-kind of day, bask under the blue-gray skies or attempt to catch the last of the warmth from the fading Summer sunshine.
Starch-boy, our son, luvs coming down to this beach, it's the first beach he searched with his first metal detector, he found a total of 3 pop can pull tabs, 2 pennies, a nickel, a railroad spike, and about 2 feet of broken cast iron pipe. Such a haul!!
Pirate booty abound, somewhere.... Finds of huge portions and value not so much. Fun to watch all the dog owners in the off-leash area manage the dog fights and count the piles of leftovers...

I don't like the off leashed park here.
I have a labradoodle which means that water+sand=sand everywhere for 2wks .
I guess this park is better for labs, other short hair breed, and owners that don't mind taking their dog to the bathhouse after each trip.
I often finds dogs that loves water and/or play fetch here.
Not a lot of social playing here.
Maybe good for senor dogs that needs a stroll.
There is a water system but no water bowl for thirsty dogs.
I love the park nearby where my family used to have picnics. I am glad they bought the pretty sand and dumped it on here. Or else this place wouldn't be as attractive like Mukilteo Beach.

This is a great little park that is not too far for our family. My son likes the beach and the play area, and the boats being moved by forklifts.
He still mentions the time we went to the end of summer creature festival one evening. Kids pools were filled with salt water, and divers collected various creatures from offshore: kelp crabs, dungeness crabs, red rock crabs, anenomes, starfish, and so on.
If one does not come on a hot August day, there is plenty of room, ample parking, and a beach one can wander on.
The other half of the family, a pair of beagles, also enjoys the dog park. Its a little cramped, but much better than others nearby, and plenty of dogs to visit with. There are some dogs at this park that that are a bit twisted and seem to be unavoidable due to its small size. So if you are concerned about dog manners, this may be a park to avoid.

I love the dog beach!!! I take my pup to the beach whenever I can and he always has a great time. When the tide is high, its secure, but when its low they can run under the dock and get out of the area.
All the other dogs that come are usually very friendly and I have never seen it overcrowded.
Recently drove out of my way to check out this off-leash area for the pup, she was bored with her Seattle parks, and I will say it was worth the drive. Lots of beach area making for a dispersed crowd. It was really nice for a change of pace, and a great place to watch the sun go down. We will definitely come here again.

This park has some play toy/picnic area next to the marina but the best part is the off leash area for the dogs. There is plenty of beach at high tide and plenty of water fun all the time. Volunteers keep it tidy and there is poop disposal and fresh water for drinking.

This is seriously where I spend 90% of my free time. I love it here! It's clean and the views are AMAZING. Seriously the best there are around here. Anyway, there's free fishing off the pier and tons of sand, not rocks, to dig your toes into. It's a short beach for walking but back it gets the job done. Edmonds is such a cute town and a great place to spend a sunny afternoon.
