This seems like your typical greasy spoon breakfast restaurant, and it probably is.  I must say, it posed quite a challenge for me to find something dairy/meat free.  [I thought this was Boulder!] So, I had coffee: fine.  Then! - I settled on cream of wheat and melon. I must say, the cantaloupe was beautifully ripe. . . and there was honey!  Of course, being Sunday - and a fine fine Sunday at that, we were led into the discussion of how this neighborhood is the best in B-train. Congratulations! Of course, we  both live here and love the peaceful adult vibe and beautific scenery.  Of course!  Not to lose focus. . . Marie's celebrates a beautiful thing . . . When two young ladies can have a fine vegan breakfast against the background of a stunning landscape; Boulder I DO love you!

Marie's is not really a greasy spoon restaurant at all.  It is run by Czechoslavakians and has some ethnic food and some well-prepared and affordable breakfasts and lunches.  The service is usually good although sometimes there's a learning curve when they hire a new waitperson.  But that's to be expected.

Like the other restaurants in this popular strip mall, Marie's has outdoor tables on an extended sidewalk area.  Pleasant in the warmer weather.  Marie's and Moe's Bagels' outdoor tables are kind of conglomerated together and on the extended sidewalk "plaza" there's always an eclectic mix of shiny-tight-clothed bicyclists, folks preparing for their latest rock-climbing venture, multiple-dog families, mental patients from the nearby group home on Broadway, who actually blend in seamlessly with the rest of the crowd, and medical staff from the nearby hospital and medical office clusters.  The people watching at the outside Marie's tables  is almost as interesting as at the Pearl Street Mall!

Marie's has their signature item:  the Kolachky (hope I'm spelling it right.) I don't order it, due to the necessity that I limit my consumption of high glycemic foods.  They seem quite popular, though.  They are a slightly sweet bread dough with fruit filling.  The fruit fillings seem to vary.  They appear to always be fresh from the oven, as are all the baked goods here.

The same gentleman is back in the kitchen preparing the food always.  This creates the consistency and quality that Marie's is known for.  Regulars have been coming to this place for 20+ years.  I'm not certain how long Marie's has been in Boulder.  Might be over 30 years.

They are good to their regulars here.  It is clean and friendly.  Salads come with most lunch entrees, or you can choose soup instead, which is home made and different every day.

Tea comes in a big white pot on a plate with a honey bear and lots of tea bags to choose from.  The honey bear is always slightly warm so the honey is soft and easy to pour.

Many kind and thoughtful touches here.
