15 reviews for Mariella Pizza Inc
I have been all around country and had some excellent pizza and some horrible pizza.
One thing that I hate is delivery. It comes all soggy and with the cheese all over the place. This place has some good reviews so i decided to give it a shot. I was not disappointed. Im not giving 5 stars for being the best pizza but more specifically, the best delivery I have had in years. Their sauce is good as is the cheese. The crust had some crunch (not much but enough) left and they were quick.
I will DEFINITELY order from these guys again.
I so wanted to love Mariella, but I knew as soon as I walked in that it was doomed to get a bad yelp review.
They have a large banner bragging that Gale (Oprah's best friend/lover) thinks this is the best pizza. Who cares?! I hate how Oprah and all of her stupid associates' opinions are like gold because they know her. Anyways, so that was 1.5 stars off automatically.
Being the neighborhood pizza joint, I expected that it would be good enough where I can go there and enjoy the sheer convenience of it all. Too bad so sad. The pizza here is tasteless. The worst part is the cheese. I have never met a cheese that I didn't like, but their cheese has no flavor what so ever. Their sauce only tastes like sweetness and not at all like tomatoes. Finally the crust is not crispy...a felony by NYC pizza standards.
I pretty much hope that this place goes down and takes Oprah with it.
The area doesn't have too many good pizza joints, so Mariella's is probably your best choice. Now bear in mind, a 3 star pizza is passable and fine, so don't think I'm hatin' on the area or Mariella's. I've just had much better pizzas in NYC.
The pizzas here have good crust, abundant cheese, but lack sauce. And unfortunately, they are really greasy (think your classic, drippy, NYC slice). And that could be brownie points if you like that, but I've eaten pizzas that tasted as good and better where I couldn't spot or taste the grease, so I'm not quite so fond.
I LOVE MARIELLA'S!!! My favorite pizza by far in NYC and anywhere else for that matter. Whether it's plain cheese or a multi-topping pizza you can not go wrong! Hell it's even Oprah's favorite pizza in the USA and that girl knows her food. I can honestly say that I never visit NYC without a stop at Mariells'a....there is no question about it. I dare you to find better pizza! The sauce and the crust is just perfect.
I'm hooked on this slice.
A great experience - will definitely order again! FINALLY, good pizza in Gramercy (I had been on a quest for a bit now).
Delivered promptly, very hot, and packaged up tight so as no pizza would get out! (Seriously, it was intricately wound with a string - that's dedication people!)
Got the meat lovers and it was quite meaty (no shock there). But just wanted to let you know. Great ingredients and I really loved the sauce.
Only complaint is that the crust wasn't totally my bag...could have been a bit softer/chewier. But that's just me.
Definitely order, you'll be happy you did :)
Love their giant slices!!!!
tasty and filling. got the chicken brocolli...tremendous.
xoxox mariella, lynette
there are several mariellas in various locations.
Yes another 5 star review from me. But it is totally deserving. This is old school pizza. Perfect place to grab a slice and since I've been working in Union Sq for almost 3 yrs, I've probably had lunch here more then any other place. Another reviewer commented on the sauce and nailed it. The perfect amount of tasty tomato sauce, the crust is great. I like the plain cheese slice for $2.50 and the Supreme for $3.50. They really go for it with toppings and the Supreme slice is a bargain.
I've gotten the chick parm and meatball hero's, and they are def good, but the slices are where it's at. If anyone from Mariella management reads this I had a white slice once with spinach and sausage that was incredible, but I've never seen it before or after, make it a regular!!!
This place is underrated. After 2 yrs in the city, I have determined that Mariella's makes the best NY pizza in the greater neighborhood. For example, it's worlds better than the New Amici a few blocks south on 3rd. Sometimes I treat myself to a slice from Mariella's after an exam. Currently my gold standard for excellent NY pizza.

It's just good, classic, New York pizza. You don't go to places like this looking for a refined,… Read more »
I got out of a class at 9:30 the other night and I was ravenous. I was about to eat my own hand, but I decided that I wanted a piece of pizza instead. I got a plain slice at Mariella Pizza. It was just a damn fine slice of pizza, and I feel like I've had a lot of stupid pizza recently. Perfect cheese to sauce to crust ratio, delicious pizza-y flavors. Highly recommended.
Pizza that tastes like pizza -- don't know why lots of bad reviews. But the times I've been here it's been very good. Large slices -- soft crust, but kind of droops when you fold. Best part is the cheese -- oozy, but doesn't fall off the pizza. But the oil does.
They have lots of soft drinks too! and a picture of their world record holding pizza - biggest pizza pie ever!
Amazing pizza...in a city where most pizza is great, this place definitely stands out!
This place is GOOD! I'm not sure why people give it negative reviews. Granted it's not the fancy, well decorated, service oriented joints that get the typical 4-5 star reviews...but it's pizza.
Lunchtime is the best time and though it's not particularly cheap or expensive ($3.50 for a slice with toppings) it does the job, no questions asked.
I've been in a few times, as it's nearby my work and the staff definitely takes care of their regulars and vice versa (a lady walked in to pay them back for the other day when they gave her a slice on credit).
I personally think it's better than Lombardi's and Patsy's but then, what do I know? I'm from California.
Always an interesting character in here. The nice thing is you can order a beer and a slice and sit down and watch the world go by. And then get up and get on your way.
This place was pretty disgusting. The decor is something like a cross between an old bathroom and an aging deli. You'd think the pizza would be cheap, but it really isn't, and for what you're getting it's a rip off. If there were a home for neglected, elderly pizzerias, that's where this place belongs. I bet there's one in Jersey.
