4 reviews for Marginal Way
Ogunqit - beautiful place by the sea! And Marginal Way is my most favorite place in Ogunquit, which is my most favorite place to be on earth.
After growing up in KS and moving to NH for three years, I spent many days off at the Maine Coast. When I discovered Ogunquit and Marginal Way, this is where I spent most of my time. I spent many hours walking on the rocks below the path and exploring tidal pools...all without ever getting slammed by a wave or slipping into the surf!
This is a great place to watch the sunrise over the Atlantic, or a full moon rise...or come out after dark lay down on a bench and gaze at the stars! Great place to sit and enjoy the beauty. Listen to the "clapping rocks" below one of the sharper bends in the path. Plus it's a short walk to/from Perkin's Cove.
Get some exercise, smile and wave at fellow walkers and enjoy the beauty of Marginal Way!

This is sort of Ogunquit's Newport Cliff Walk lite. It does go along the cliffs but It's only a little over a mile and over before you know it. The walk is very flat and easy, however the scenery is gorgeous and you spend more time looking than walking.
It does get extremely crowded in the summer and you have make sure you look away from the ocean on occasion to ensure you won't step on an old lady or little kid.

A fantastic super scenic walk right on the Atlantic Ocean. Unspoiled granite cliffs with the waves crashing all around you.
Just a mile and a quarter long, this paved trail is for elders and grannies but is so picturesque that all can enjoy.
There are many park benches all along the walk, some tucked away on a hill or private cove. Romantic moments.
Crowded in the summer months, you dodge the families, wheelchairs, and baby carriages.
Starts at Perkin's Cove and comes out at Shore Road in Ogunquit.
Free to all!! Donation box on site.
Minis 1 star for not allowing dogs.

There are several entry points into the Marginal Way, the easiest of which is from Perkin's Cove. Get your ice cream from Barnacle Billy's and get walking. It's a leisurely 1.25 mile walk along the cliffs (or "the margin of the sea" - hence the odd name). We were there in fall and with the leaves changing and the waves all frothed up in the crisp breezes, the short walk was packed with visual stunningness. There are several benches along the way to assist in gazing contemplatively at the sea with your favorite people.
