It reminded me a lot of Pasta and Co, pricey tasty provisions .

I stopped in and got a Bibi cafe, and a gelato with espresso poured over it. The guy at the counter took a minute to understand that I wanted espresso over the ice cream, but it worked out OK.  Perhaps it was just a communication error?

In the end The service wasn't great, but my gelato with espresso was tasty.

I will never shop at or refer anyone to shop at Marche Provisions after an awkward experience which reflected their poor customer service.

I had joined a friend at Provisions after school, when she wanted a quick bite to eat before we went shopping in the 5th street Market. While my friend ordered her food, I browsed around the shop.  This upscale "marketplace" is chock-full of goodies, culinary and decorative. I stopped to admire a display of soy candles in decorative boxes.  I reached for a candle, and watched in horror as the bottom of the packaging gave way as I lifted it off the shelf, sending the glass-encased candle crashing to the floor, where it shattered on impact. I looked around, mortified, at the salesgirl at the register, the Marche employee who was wandering the sales floor, and the cheese steward, all of whom caught my eye with withering glances...
I started to pick up the ruined candle, the defective packaging and took it to the register. As I worked in a retail establishment at the time, I did the right thing and offered to pay for the broken candle. The salesgirl said NOTHING when I made my offer, but wordlessly rang me up for the purchase. No "I'm sorry about that," no "don't worry about that, it was an accident," NOTHING. (Had this happened in my shop, I would have never made a customer pay for something that I witnessed was broken in a complete accident).  Was it because I was wearing my UO hoodie and therefore labeled as another trust-fund college kid, who probably wasn't going to buy anything? Thanks for treating me like a valued customer.
The clencher-it was a $40 candle that smelled like crap, full of broken glass and I had to pay for it.

I'm so over Marche and their family-bred pretentiousness and stereotyping customers based on appearance. The sad part is, I love little shops like theirs, but I refuse to give Marche Provisions any of my business. Portland isn't too far if I need a $30 pewter salt spoon, or something equally ridiculous.

Wow. Mind blowingly, unacceptably horrible service/staff here. Every time. All the time. All hours - all days - all seasons. Doesn't matter if it is a full moon, evening, lunch time, morning, week-end, day of the week, slow time, busy time ... or anything in between. They just don't want you there, they don't want to be there; and they make sure you know it!

The concept of Provisions is cool and hip. Having a coffee bar, pastry bar, sandwich shop, and pizza/wine area all inclusize - oh, and salad area, too. But in order to obtain any of these products, you have to interact with folks who don't want you there. THAT is the problem.

Also - warning - at the pizza "Station" - if you want a salad, especially a cesar salad - you are either going to hear: "We are out of romaine, is mixed greens okay?"  --or--  receive romaine that is wilted and pathetic.

This is one place you won't catch me anyone - 20+ times of chances to get it right was 50+ chances too many.

This place has really good pizza if they heat it up enough. It's really quite good for the style of pizza they're attempting, especially the margherita. Thin crust -- the way I like it -- with a balanced amount of homemade mozzarella cheese and sauce. Simple, rustic pizza (it's not a NY style slice). If you like a thick layer of cheese and a hearty crust, this is not your place, but my boyfriend and I really like it.

They have good bread.

They also have really nice cards.

I can't buy anything else because everything is so overpriced. Sure, many items they have are naturally expensive, but the markup on most is still kinda ridiculous.

I was also hoping they'd make sandwiches with the specialty meats and cheeses (e.g. prosciutto, olive oil, fresh mozzarella, broccoli rabe on crusty bread, etc.) the way they do it back in the northeast, but all they make are boring (but expensive) construct-your-own deli sandwiches you could just make at home. I mean, they taste fine, but what's the point? They should use their specialty ingredients and devise a menu of interesting sandwiches.

The markups and service here are so absurd that I can think of pretty much no reason to patronize this place. Maybe if I worked in the 5th street market and was just desperate for some pizza, but really, there's no circumstance in my life that would call for a trip to Marche Provisions.

The two times I did have Pizza at Marche Provisions, the pies were old and my slices were under-heated. I had to ask the staff to re-re-heat my old stale pizza both times. To counter Jeremy, I've had pizza up and down the East Coast, throughout Chicago and consider my palette very well experienced and refined, if not under-financed, and I promise you, unwitting, review-seeking potential customers, there is better pizza in this town at a number of places. Do not seek pizza here.

The service is pretty bizarre. For one, the place has been way overstaffed the few times I've been there. Perhaps this explains the otherwise inexplicable and inexcusable markups; however, the ample staff seems to have no interest whatsoever in tending to the customer's needs. It really just doesn't make sense. Kinda like the existence of this place doesn't make sense. Who's really clueless or otherwise indifferent to personal finances enough to patronize this place?

Good idea for business, but horrible execution.

The service is meh at both the coffee bar and the pizza bar.

A note to the staff: you work in Eugene, not Brooklyn, not Seattle, not even Portland.  So get over yourselves.

Okay, with that said, my last couple of trips here were, well, "meh."  There's no other word that describes it so completely.  It was cold inside, and I'm a naturally warm person.  All of the people in our party had to keep their coats on because it was really so frigid.

At the table next to us was an older couple and what looked to be their daughter.  The little old man was all bundled up and snoozing away while the two ladies chatted merrily.

Now, the upside of the place is that they have adorable trinkets and whatchamacallits on rounders not-so-strategically placed around the coffee and seating areas.  These items are terribly cute, but mostly overpriced.  They'd make perfect gifts for moms and grams.

I wish I could say better things about this place since it really does have a lot going for it.  (The decor is seriously pleasant and modern.)  It's mostly the service that's a complete downer here.  Sorry guys.

Everything there is scattered. Nothing makes sense, there are tables everywhere and the meat is next to the gelato and then theres cheese....not very organized at all.
Thats the least of it though, the people that work there are extremely unhelpful. I had to get a grumpy look on my face in order for them to show up at one of their 10 milllion cash registers they have. The place is total BS. They do have a decent slice of pizza though, I will give them that.

I really want Provisions to do well and make it here in Eugene but I don't think so.

Went there looking for a slice of pizza and a glass of wine for lunch and hit a speedbump.

The pizza guy was chatting up the gal from the other section, both round tables were occupied.  The bar was empty but trashed from previous customers.  Nobody had bothered to bus the dishes and clean.  We kind of stack dirty plates and sit down.  Pizza guy looks at us like we were bothering him.  Comes over without a word and takes a few away, then is gone.

We left and had a great lunch at Marche's.  This is my second strickout here, they have one more chance.

The best of the best products can be found here.  They aren't shy to sample anything for you either.  While there, my roommate and I were able to get a sample of some butter.  Oh, not just any butter, though.  This was something much, much better than that.  It was so worth the fat and calories - I know you'd agree.  They have a pretty big selection of teas, honey, desserts, - you name it.

Of course, goods this, well, good, do come at a price.  We bought the butter, some honey, and a small jar of mustard for $15.

All in all, top-notch quality that's well worth the price.  I will now apologize for the overuse of commas:  I'm sorry.  This may very well be one of my favorite stores.  Ever.  For real.  It's that much fun.  Bye now.

i think this place pretty great.  i have been there half a dozen times to get a slice and a salad.  it is always tasty and a pretty good deal- around 5 dollars.

not sure why people care if they are overstaffed and personally i have never had any problems with their service.  i do agree that all the extraneous stuff they sell is spendy.

The use of local food is great, and I liked the gourmet salts and wines.
The pizza is not rewarmed enough and the service was not very good.
I mean really pizza should not come out a bit better than luke warm!
And just try to find some water in the place if the water pitcher is empty.
I have not been back to see if it has improved after the first two times.
This could be a great place with some better attention to detail.

This is a beautiful store, for sure, and the food I've had there--a sandwich, soup and the very special salad bar--has been really good. The downside, it is a difficult place to navigate, and hard to figure out what you are supposed to do. The first time I went there for lunch, we were ahead of the lunch crowd (ie, no other lunchers to look to for cues) and had to literally track someone down and say how do we order a sandwich? Where do we pay for our salads? How much do they cost? I guess a little embarrassment and social discomfort is a small price to pay for a nice lunch, but it does seem like self-service food venues should at least provide a clue or two towards figuring out the etiquette.
