Olivehurst, CA
We actually decided to give Marcello's a visit a while back on my wife's birthday; she was wanting Italian, but we didn't have the time to go out of town on that specific day. We first went to Strings on her recommendation. Yeah, the one in the mall...After a very unpleasant experience (the place was filthy, staff was rude, the water didn't even look clean which I didn't get since I drink YC tap all the time; truly a shame to the Stings name), we decided to head on over to Marcello's after remembering it had opened.
Well, I've gotta say, its not my favorite Italian restaurant, but it certainly is a vast improvement for this town! The staff is friendly, the inside is fairly nice and spacious, the location is convenient. The one caveat is the food is less than fantastic; seriously, I would choose Olive Garden over Marcellos (although I do like Olive Garden, so no its not an insult). I've just had much better "Italian"; and yes, it really is a shame that there aren't any legit Italian restaurants that cook more than unimaginative pasta dishes (and oddly enough, American style steak dishes), but that's just the way it is for some reason.
Anyways, back to the food. The food is overall decent, just lacking...flavor. Its far from "wow" in any manner; I'd rather fill up on bread truth be told. We've tried all their pastas, none of which was spectacular, with marinara sauce tasting akin to Prego sauce with some minor spice modifications. It just wasn't wow in any sense. The price is also less than spectacular; I really don't get how Italian restaurants can charge so much for pasta dishes when the ingredients are dirt cheap and incredibly easy to make, but again, that's just the industry standard.
Overall, I'm giving it a 4 because the atmosphere is great, the service was great, and the food was palatable, and I'm incredibly grateful to have another decent restaurant in the area, which YC somewhat lacks in (although we have a wonderful selection in fast food...). In most other cities, I'd give it a 3. -

Basically a local Olive Garden. Nothing over the top great, nothing to really complain about.

THIS IS NOT ITALIAN FOOD!
I'm sorry. I didn't mean to shout at you. But when people call stuff like this Italian, it makes me mad.
Like my previous review, this restaurant caters to my work several times a month through sales people who like to butter up our doctors. And our doctors LOVE it. Everyone in the office salivates like Pavlov's dogs when the smell of alfredo sauce comes wafting through the clinic.
I, on the other hand, not so much having a finely-tuned palate, but having grown up around many a friend's New-Jersey Italian grandmother, cannot subjugate myself to eating this after the first time I tried a teeny tiny but of their "marinara".
Italian food is not and does not consist of all pastas with alfredo and vodka sauce, stale garlic bread (ew) and baby back ribs. In fact, i am quite sure that baby back ribs are in totality, NOT ITALIAN,
Anyway, I digress. I'm not a fan, but I'm very, very picky about my Italian. It's the one food that, to me, unless done perfectly, is just not worth eating. -

I thought this place we pretty great. The service was good, the server was a nice guy who was more than willing to give a recommendation. I went with the recommendation and got the Chicken Marsala. It was fantastic! I also had the toscana soup which was creamy and delicious.

Very reliable Italian food, the best pasta in Yuba City. (Don't laugh.) Very accomodating to children, a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, a private banquet room, reasonable (but not cheap) prices. I hear the pizza is excellent, and my mother-in-law reports the halibut is very fine. The vegans always get the penne primavera with arrabiata sauce, though the arrabiata usually needs some spicing up with chili flakes.
A so-so wine list, about what you'd expect for the area. It's between Marcello's, Salute, and the Dancing Tomato for the best group dining in town. -

Had the pizza. Ok. Service was good. We weren't expecting much in Yuba city. I would probably not go back....it wasn't bad, but nothing special, except it's in Yuba which like my other reviews of Reno restaurants makes it pretty good when taken in context. 2.5

Good italian food for the area of Yuba Dirty. If I had the choice betwen here and Olive Garden, I'd go here in a heart beat. Dancing Tomato is almost as good but the spaghetti sauce here is much tastier.

Yuba City, CA
Definitely not the best Italian food I've ever had, but for the Yuba-Sutter area this ranks pretty high, right underneath Pasquini's on the quality scale. However, the service at Marcello's trounces Pasquini's by a mile. The owner personally greeted us and went around to every table to make sure people were fully satisfied. The food is very solid, again not mind-blowing, but solid. For only 9.99 you get endless pasta, which is a great deal. A meal won't change your life by any means, but if you need some good Italian food close to home in the Yuba-Sutter area, Marcello's will more than satisfy your cravings.

Marysville, CA
Went to Marcello's last night (my 2nd time coming) and it was WONDERFUL. The food was delicious and the service was very good. I've gone for a regular lunch AND at a corporate party and both were excellent. It's alittle on the pricey side (for this area that is) but it's worth it if you're looking for a good atmosphere and great Italian food.

Okay Italian food--the standard American/Italian menu with an okay wine lists. For this area, a good bet. Service is tops and food comes to the table in good time--still hot. Salads are fresh and cold. Price is in line with the area. We go there when we want a decent dining experience but aren't willing to go to Sacramento or Roseville. Also has a pick up window.

Pleasant little place. I went on a night there were all you can eat beef medallions. The owner is friendly and will come out and talk to people. The service is good.

Yuba City, CA
Pretty good but a little pricey on some things. Enjoyed the atmosphere, forgot I was in Yuba City. A chicken pasta dish that I had once was not much to write about. My husband loved their calzone! Mgt and staff are on top of things. Have yet to have one bad service experience there. Will return, I just won't order the same pasta dish again.
