Be warned! This doctor is so handsome that it is difficult to show up to is offices with a new rash or festering boil. The first time I met him I had a staph infection on my face (Yup, weepy crusty, yellow and vicious!) no makeup and was wearing my dirty jammies. And, I'm thinking, "What fresh hell is this?" Turns out that he was not fresh hell. He is a young professional doctor with very current views on skin care anti aging remedies and a deep knowledge of medicine. He is funny and nice...he didn't laugh too hard the time I went in there squawking nay freaking the "F" out, about toe fungus and it turned out that my toe nail was pulling up at the edges because they were simply too long (I know, it's gross but I just get all ookie when I have to cut them). He recommended that I cut them and to make sure my running shoes fit. He has had to scold me on several occasions when I have decided to drop in at a medispa for lasers or botox and had to go visit an actual doc for a remedy. However he is good natured about all of this and understands that I am a girl who can't abide a wrinkle or a zit. More than once, he has sent me off to other doctors who preform these services with my health and safety in mind.
All of that being said, my skin is so young and beautiful that I receive compliments almost daily. Many people have asked me who I go to. The friends who have visited his offices have been transformed before my eyes. I thought it was time to share him with the world. I also have to give a shout to his staff, they are wonderful and always friendly.
Having to update this review and remove stars pains me. But it needs to be done.
When my issues were small, he was a great dermatologist.
But after a nasty infection, that lasted months, I began to question his methods. Over that time, he prescribed some creams, powders and pills. Even one that cost $100 out-of-pocket. Nothing worked! A friend told me what to do and offered me a sample of her cream, the infection cleared up right away. I was so relieved.
So I told him what worked, but he was unwilling to fill the Rx because he felt it was too strong. I spoke to another doctor, that laughed at this reaction. Especially considering several other medical personnel thought my infection was "the worst they had ever seen."
Yeah, I was not happy.
And now that my other skin issues have worsened, I returned to ask him what to do since the cream he had given me in the past was not working. I mentioned some other therapies I had read online and that I was open to any suggestions. He didn't really seem interested in trying anything new and had no other options for me. He handed me an Rx for more of the cream that didn't work. This really puzzled me knowing that his background was in care of people with psoriasis and eczema conditions.
As someone who is also in the medical profession, I understand the need to be cautious. But I fear Dr. Antazana is this to a fault. It's been a few months now and I'm still in pain. And although I've been his patient for years, I'm going to seek out a new dermatologist.
I guess picking a name randomly in the phone book isn't the best way to pick a doctor.
