Great place for authentic Armenian food. I haven't been here in quite awhile, but a couple years ago this used to be a weekly stop for dinner for myself and a couple buddies.

I'm not sure if this is true anymore, but the owner's mother used to cook everything before. Honest to goodness she made the best tasting lamb kabobs I've ever tasted. They were _always_ cooked perfectly (med. rare to medium) and just so good I could never stray from ordering that. Haven't returned in a couple years though, so things may have changed since then.

Wonderful food, the desserts are to die for. Everything there is made by the owners, and they have extremely friendly service. Would definitely go back.

Not impressed at all.  Would rather drive all the way to Armenia than go back.  I'm waiting to see how the Health Dept handles its recent issues.  Too bad Fresno doesn't have a website with such incidents listed on a website like other counties.

According to a quick google search, Marat's claims to have been voted "Best Armenian Restaurant in the Valley." WHAT?!?!?!?! This place is situated in a Vons shopping center, between a subway and a mediocre burrito shop. My brother and I figured we'd check this place out when he returned from Iraq, as he hadn't had good Armenian food since his deployment. When we arrived, we thought maybe the place was closed and forgot to lock the doors. Within a few minutes, however, a young man came out from the back and greeted us. He was very polite and thanked us extensively for visiting his establishment. The dining room was furnished with what seemed to be card tables and rickety chairs. Still expecting a decent experience, we ordered the Chicken Kabob and Steak Kabob. We were started with a very basic salad, likely something you could find at your local Costco. The food came out hot, a definite plus. However, it was nothing overly impressive. And the cost rivaled some of the nicer Armenian restaurants in town. Awkwardly, the young man that had greeted, served, and perhaps even cooked for us basically begged us to tell people we know about this restaurant. Needless to say, we have, but I'm not sure it's been very helpful.

In the end, we were pleased with our experience, though I'm quite certain we'll not be returning. We much prefer House of Kabob on Alluvial and Fresno.

This is a small business. Absolutely delicious kufta, napoleons, pilaf, rice, lamb sandwhich, practically everything on menu. The place is very laid back and is child friendly. The waiter was very nice and seemed to know all of the regular customers. Offers take out and very reasonably priced.

Great food. Homemade.  Friendly service. Oh and don't forget the Napoleon for dessert.

Marat's is quality Armenian food... as simple as that.  Family owned and operated, I've been eating here since Johnny and his parents moved here from Armenia.  Everything is good-- but I slightly prefer the beef kabob to the chicken.  Make sure to get the pilaf, its the best in the valley.  The atmosphere is fun, and is quiet enough to enjoy conversation with friends or a romantic date.  Plus, I'm pretty sure I heard the music they play at Hotel Armenia...
