my first time at mapp, and as expected, i was dazzled.

we started at philz' which was done up with white sheer fabric and people dressed in white and dancing crazy to live bands.  I asked one on the side what they were doing, and she replied, enthusiastically, "We're playing a game!  want to play?"  so we did!

the rest of the night included drawing on tortillas, walking through the streets and feeling the energy of this creative explosion, talking to lots of new folks cuz of the totally open vibe, seeing some fantastic music, and being asked if i really wanted to name my crayon color seaweed green, because on the beach, seaweed is black-ish, and underwater, it's brownish.  after realizing he was so right, i said, just seaweed.  he said,  okay...  just seaweed.

MAPP is a fantastic way to get out, see and experience and get excited about local artists and musicians in the Mission. It's an institution.

MAPP gathers Mission artists and musicians to display their works and perform in local venues every other month. It's a fun way to check some exciting artists and hear from all types of performances. There are multiple venues so you can walk from each one throughout the night and take in some local flavor. Highly recommended and the best part is that it's free!
