This is one of my favorite courses to play that is near my house, the course is in fantastic shape for all the play that this place gets. Not that long but still fun to play back 9 can get a little boring but the front 9 is great.
The guys in the pro shop are cool too, driving range and restaurant attached this place has everything.
Prices are decent too cant go wrong with this gem. -

This was the first course I played at when I first moved up to Renton. It's what you expect from a public course that's decent: slow play, okay fairway conditions and packed with golfers trying to catch 9 holes after work. I tend to come here a lot after work and it's always packed. Don't expect to fit in 18 holes if you tee off around 5:30-6:00.
As far as the difficulty of the course it's fairly easy and plays really short. The greens are about average speed every time I've gone there. The ground on the par 3's seem to always be really hard so I'm not sure if they forget to water the par 3's or there's something that I don't know.
If you're looking to have a weekend golf outing with a couple of buddies I'd recommend this place. I've seen golfers of all skill level play here (from beginners to scratch golfers) so it definitely attracts golfers of all skills.
They also have multilevel range right next to it which is pretty cheap ($1 for 10 balls) but I absolutely hate hitting off mats so I don't go there too much. I would give this review 4/5 if they had a range with a grass area instead of mats. -

Our 10-year old son is just starting to get into golf and we wanted to get him some lessons so he'd start out right, without bad habits. Maplewood is near our home and offers very affordable lessons - $40 for 1 hour private instruction for children. We were booked in with Jodie and she's been excellent with him. She knew how to explain things well, has been very patient and very supportive as he's been learning. I would highly recommend Maplewood for youth instruction and Jodie is fabulous!

Maplewood is Renton's municipal course. I've only used the driving range.
There's plenty of parking, fees are relatively inexpensive , and the clientèle seems generally middle class and nice.
I haven't golfed it yet but it looks pretty from the parking lot...Listed in: Best of the Eastside, Outdoor Living in the Pacific…

Miraculous 75 degree weather in Seattle greeted us for our first review of Maplewood Golf Course. Maplewood is a fairly short (6112 blue tees) and very tight, city ran municipal golf course right off of a very traffic laden Maple Valley Highway. How they manage to squeeze a par 72 golf course into such a small amount of space is truly a miracle. To accomplish this feat, Maplewood lines a few holes literally right on the highway as well as puts you through a back and forth march on the back nine to use every acre of land possible. Given the space they had to work with and the constraints of a city golf course budget I think they have done a pretty good job of making a fun track that plays to all skill levels. That "play to all skill levels" bit is a huge thing to keep in mind out there as you maneuver from tee to green. Balls are flying everywhere out there and you would be wise to keep you head on a swivel. Specifically on the back nine, which I'll touch on in a bit.
One very noticeable thing about Maplewood is that it definitely caters to the female golfer which is a nice change to see. We saw more women playing golf at Maplewood today than we have ever seen on a golf course at one time. Maplewood, and its lack of a dress code also mean that it will bring out some of the most unique golfing outfits you'll ever find....which makes for some excellent people watching on the golf course. Yes tank top and strappy sandals guy...we're talking to you :) and yes sir you are correct...I did sneak a picture of you for my website. Surprise! He probably shot 80 and made 4 more fairways than me. I digress.
All tanktop jokes aside, the course plays much tougher than the 69 rating it has on the scorecard from the blue tees. It's primary challenge is its extreme narrowness on the back 9. Take the first sunny weekend of the year, very narrow fairways, and a lot of casual fair weather golfers and missiles were flying all over the place. It was very common to be standing on your tee box while in the middle of the fairway, two different golfers were playing shots back to two different holes. Honestly I don't think I have another golf course that I can compare it too. As for some advice on how to play this place? Well, driver is hardly necessary out there so if you have a tendency to spray it, or you're just not feeling it that day, I would suggest putting it away. If you're off a bit you'll be punching out of the trees all day. If you're dialed in...really dialed, in you'll have a few chances to drive the green on a par 4 or have a small chip at the least. Lastly, check your yardages out there. There are a lot of holes where placement of the tee shot is a heck of a lot more important than distance. Several tee shots require you to hit a 3 iron or a hybrid to an optimal spot so that you have a good angle to attack the green.

Very affordable place to play, however, it doesn't present ANY sort of challenge. Haven't played an 18 round here over par in about 3 years.
Nice range set up, and with the punch card system, can be a great value if you are trying to get your game into shape.
If you have a handicap in the single digits seek a challenge elsewhere. If you are a 20 something player, bring a group of work buddies out and enjoy a round. -

The course was great, kept very well. Price was what I would expect for a Friday ($33) at a course of this caliber. We won't really get into the challenging aspect of it, except I remember one of the holes being on a mound that seemed impossible. I enjoyed my time playing a round of 18 at Maplewood and can easily see myself coming back for a bit more. No complaints from me, only praise here.

Course is in great shape for being early in the season and sooooo wet out. Narrow fairways and doglegs demand accuracy with the long irons (a decent driver will put you through the fairway and in jail!). Greens seemed a bit slow but it's early. The practice facility is a decent one, multi-tier range and decent putting green. Didn't notice a practice trap or chipping area. For the money, absolutely.......If you're looking for nice views and more yardage, not here. 3.5 stars.

I like Maplewood. It's close to home, has a clean and well maintained driving range. The front 9 is quite a struggle with the hills but wide open. If you outta shape, better off getting a cart. The back 9 is narrow and forces you to hit it straight or otherwise it's on the other fairway. Its a fun course. On a beautiful sunny day, it's like you were on vacation.

Well, just into my first year of golf, and this is where I've been going, mostly for the price ($11-$14 twilight special), and the convenient access (just a couple miles off of 405 onto Maple Valley Hwy. This is a mellow muni course, that sees alot of business in the warm months but is wide open the rest of the year. Holes 1-3 have quite a bit of elevation change, as do 8 and 9. The rest is flat and easy walking. Nothing too long here and you have to hit off of boxes in the rainy months on the par 3's. Bit of water, lots of trees. Bring a couple of balls you're ready to lose for holes 2 and 6. Friendly staff, standard pro-shop, two-level standard driving range. Small putting green (no chipping). Clubhouse restaurant recently leased out to a Mexican shin-dig (haven't tried it yet). Booze cart on the weekends, take out window with call-up from the 9. I likey, but if I was good, I'd probably be looking for smoother greens, less beat-up fairways, and longer yardage.
