Having stayed at numerous hotels, I can honestly say that this is THE hotel to book. There just isn't another one like it within a 30 radius or so that provides the level of service, affordability, and condition that these guys have.
Interior- Old school decor, functionality over fancy schamcy floor plans. Free wi-fi + morning breakfast.
Exterior- Gorgeous, lots of trees for shade in the parking lot. Everything looks new.
Location- Conveniently located on El Camino Real, 5-10 minutes from all major highways. In a nice area, not ghetto-y like a lot of other hotels.
Price- $60 a night for a one week stay (This is a STEAL).
There is simply no real comparison when it comes to the Maple Tree Inn. Wow I feel like I'm working for them or something, but really, I'm just one very satisfied customer. :)
Affordable, Quality, Great Customer, Writing this review on my laptop by using there free Wi-Fi Service ; )
This is my 4th time checking in as a Sunnyvale resident. It's just a cool little get away! The rooms are clean, staff is friendly, good breakfast, pool, computer room, great place to lodge!
I highly suggest this place for almost any reason.

Definitely a great value for the business traveler! Though small and somewhat out-of-date with the furnishings, the very reasonable rates include parking, wireless internet, breakfast in the morning, and a manager's reception at night. The staff were all nice, and I have no complaints.
The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. The toiletries they provide are Terra Pure and organic/natural. Three different types of coffee are offered for you to brew in your room.
I agree that the showers are weird - the head comes out at about 5 feet, so it is a little awkward to get clean. This sort of goes along with the out-of-date theme. However, the hotel is very clean and comfortable. I'll stay here again!
I can't believe all of the positive reviews for this place. This is a motel 6 with a bigger room. My phone didn't work...the bed was like being on a board...the room smells...there's marijuana smoke wofting through the halls...yeah, this place pretty much sucks.
I don't quite get all the glowing reviews about this place.. This place is pretty plain. On my arrival the front desk guy seemed annoyed with a frown of contempt that I made him getup from his favorite TV show he was glued to on a Sunday afternoon... the dude could barely speak English (I had to ask him twice - "what?") and just couldn't be bothered to explain where my room was which resulted in me circling around for ages trying to find it.
The room and bathrooms are decent. The bed was comfortable and the linen nice. The TV sucked gas. About 10 yrs old. HBO was so dark you could barely make out what was on the screen. There is no way to adjust the set, they lock you out. Another major annoyance was that every time you turned it on it would come on with a loud infomercial page of the hotel and about 6 clicks on the remote before you could actually watch a TV channel. In the morning when you just want to get up and flick on CNN this is a huge drag, especially when one is half-asleep.
The "excercise room" was a joke and have not seen anybody use it, ever. The pool looked dirty and the water was lukewarm.
Don't believe the glossy photos on Expedia of the breakfast presentation. It's nothing near it, even though better quality and with more variety than most other hotels. Make-your-own waffles, fruit, eggs (boiled and fried) sausages, warm buns, toast, etc.
The only plus is location, near TJ's, Safeway, drug stores, Starbucks, Peet's, etc.
Animal lovers, this is your place!
We stayed here while our home was being tented for termites. As the whole family needed to evacuate for the duration, we needed a hotel that would accept our three cats. That's why we chose this place.
They really went all out for us! They gave us two adjacent rooms for the price of one, so the five of us could really spread out. They seemed to know animals well enough that the stress of being in the car, then in a strange place, could throw off their sense of routine and they needed lots of places to hide. Awesome! The pet goodies that were left in each room (blanket, treats, bowl, etc.) were more meant for dogs, but we thought it was very sweet and over-the-top that a hotel would go out of their way so much to think of people's pets. We'd never encountered anything like it!
Not only were there goodies, and the extra room, but the housekeeping staff had the courtesy and foresight to call ahead of time each day before they did our rooms, to give us a chance to prepare the cats for the disruption, so they would not run out. They also took special care to not prop doors open so that the cats would not be able to escape down the hallway. Now that's service!!
It was great to see so many people there with their animals. Many guests walked their dogs up and down the hallways to exercise their furry friends. I felt that the hotel cared as much about its four-legged guests as the two-legged ones.
During the visit, a manager-type strolled the grounds and asked guests how they were enjoying their visits. I liked that!
The included breakfast each morning was awesome. It was not just a continental breakfast; a real breakfast. We got plenty full each morning.
The only reason it loses a star is because of the pool. It was advertised as heated, and maybe it was, but not heated enough to swim in comfortably. I took one dip and that was enough. My partner couldn't get in past his toes. Also, the pool was full of leaves. We haven't put in our own pool yet, so pools at hotels we stay at are especially important to us because it's part of what we're paying for. I didn't see anyone else using the pool either, in the three days we were there.
Tall people beware: the shower stalls are meant for little ones! The shower heads were too short for us so washing up was um...interesting. The tubs were also tiny. The rooms were clean, however, and that is very important.
Would we stay here again? Yes, in circumstances that require us to bring our cats. Most hotels do not allow pets. But if that was not a requirement, we'd want a place with a better pool.

I loved my experience at this hotel. Ive had really mixed experience with hotels in the area, especially with mid-range hotels. of course youre gonna get good service at the hilton or the fairmont, but you pay a premium for it.
this hotel is not too big, homey, with dark wood paneling inside. there really isnt any landscaping, but there are a number of maple trees around outside, the leaves were all on the ground when i stayed, it was really pretty. there is an outside pool, but i dont think its heated, and it was raining while i was here, so i didnt go in.
the room was very clean and comfortable. there was a fridge that wasnt packed with overpriced drinks. also included was a microwave, an unexpected bonus.
the morning breakfast was very large, and not just nasty sysco-ish processed foods. there was a make-your-own belgian waffle machine, yogurt, pastries, miso soup, the whole nine yards.
my only caveat with this place is that i tried to reserve my room online, but i only saw a smoking room available. so i called and they said non-smoking was not a problem, they could take my reservation on the phone, but the room would be $120 or something. the online rate said $85, i think. i asked them why there was a discrepancy, and the front desk guy said that the rate hadnt been updated online, they were actually pretty full, so the price had gone up. i thought that was a little weird, but i hung up with him, booked the room online, and had no problem, paid the amount i expected, got a non-smoking room. i just thought it was a little weird that they wouldnt honor the advertised rate on the phone, but booking it online worked out, so i have no complaints.
i would highly recommend this hotel to both business and leisure travelers.

This was my first experience with Sunnyvale. My company put me up, so I don't know what it cost, but I did like it here and they were very helpful with getting me a taxi and helping me with internet and faxes.

Fabulous place. I come to Sunnvyale on weekly business travel and usually bring my little dog with me. The pet-friendly rooms sometimes have extra food- and waterbowls in them (one even had treats!), and the green areas around the parking lot provide ample space to walk and exercise my dog.
Expect breakfast and hospitality hour similar to a Fairfield Inn (buffet-style), BUT with an Asian twist if you're so inclined. I'd never had nori and tofu for breakfast--what a cool experience! Expect to be able to work the calories off in a very well-maintained, clean exercise room later, before you fall into your comfortable bed.
I can't stress safety enough. As a female business traveler, I appreciated the well-lit parking lot and the attentive hotel staff.

My in-laws stayed here. They serve a free, hot, full breakfast everyday. We're talking eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, pancakes, the works. Plus, they have a free Happy Hour every weeknight, and they serve appetizers. On Tuesday, they fire up the BBQ and serve enough meat to be a meal. I was really impressed at the quality of service for the price. The rooms were a decent size, but nothing special. Very good value for the price.
