8438 SW 40th StThe Colombian take on the hamburger is an epic win! I've never tasted a burger quite like this before. Very unique. Their hotdogs looked awesome too. I really loved the green picante sauce. To correct a fellow yelper, they actually do have french fries here. I had fries with sausage. I think on the menu it was called salchipapa. The service here rocked too. Wish they sold MAO t-shirts. The MAO hotdog is almost as cute as the mascot for Condom World.

The burger here was satisfactory. It's definitely colombian fast food, but I'm still a bigger fan of the burger over at los mega perros. The burger at MAO was huge, with alot of everything, and that might have been its downfall. The toppings were in huge quantities and this led to an underwhelming flavor. It was too much to take notice of the great toppings.
I still haven't tried their hot dogs, though.

i only ate at this place once but i continually crave their amazing chicken burger!! their burgers have amazing texture (crunchy/squishy/chewy/soft) and flavor (spicy/salty/sweet/tangy)... even though i was full after i finished my burger (and licked my fingers clean) i secretly wished i had another. they also have interesting random columbian sodas and make every burger made-to-order. mmmm...

one of my favorite Colombian hamburgers
they're so good b/c of all those additives! the patty is ok, but what makes it esp. tasty is the crunchy fritas, the jamon, queso, mayo, couple of unknown sauces and pineapple sauce at the end!
$5 -- this is great fast food. menu is small though.
also tried the pepitos and maicito (same sauces actually)
pepito kinda like a sliced sausage hot dog and the maicito mostly corn with cheese, chicken, bacon

Yeaahhhh! Another late-night food establishment...I got tipped off by this place from another Yelper! (shout-out to Jordan N!) and he did not lie, this place is a greasy gem. Mao is a simple place with a small, specialized menu dedicated to 3 things:
1) Hamburgers prepped Colombian style.
2) Hot dogs (super-long or regular).
3) Arepas.
Now, to a Norteamericno, you'd think, "What makes this place so great? Sounds like a Latin Dairy Queen." But, ohhhh, what makes this special are the TOPPINGS they put on them. It's like a meaty Cold-Stone Creamery. Here's the standard stuff (from what I can blearily remember): ham, mayo rosado (pink sauce), 2 cheeses, garlic, avocado dressing, pineapple, papitas fritas (mini fries), lettuce...I mean you can downsize, but what's the point?! The photos here do not LIE. I coulda split my hamburger with my bf, it was that filling. I can't wait to try the hot dogs next.
The only side order dish is this sweet corn dish thats topped with delicious toppings, called maicitas. No french fries at this joint.
Tip: Just eat the burger as fast as you can, the multi-assorted toppings make it hard to handle plus, like most hamburgers, its less appetizing after it gets cold. I still like ONEBURGER for my gourmet hamburgers but this place does hit the spot on a late night. :)
PS: I had to ask the burger dudes, what was up with the name. No, it's not a Communist-supporting burger shack, apparently, it's the abbreviation of the store-owner's name. :)

I might be exaggerating, especially since this is the first time I've ever had a COLOMBIAN hamburger. But, just because of the simple ingenuity that I've not witnessed anywhere yet to this date, I have to give it 5 stars.
The prices certainly does help too since you'll be hard pressed to spend more than $10 and finish all of your food (I wish you luck in your attempt to prove me wrong).
But my $5 burger (add .50 cents for bacon) was stuffed with ground beef, a good slice of ham, lettuce, mayo rosado, papitas fritas, and queso blanco (white cheese). I had this with a Frescolita (a sorta bubblegum-flavored soda - an acquired taste, but I've acquired it) for a dollar more.
Just look at the pictures... I dare you! I was so full after one burger and I didn't even have fries with it! That says enough.
(DISCLAIMER: If you don't like over-grossation of food as in a bloated burger stuffed with so many things, then do not look at the picture. I will not be responsible for any consequences you may experience whatsoever.)
I've noticed that the Colombian hot dogs of a similar fashion here were also popular. They have arepas and maicitas (I haven't tried this one yet - must be pure Colombian) on site too.
The ambience is fast food casual, with barstools lining on one wall. It is a clean establishment and a great place to stop by before or after clubbing (especially since they are open past midnight everyday). But this place is easy to miss as the sign is not that big outside and it is in a small strip mall (Little Bird Shopping Center).
Edited: I also liked the hot dogs, the Super Perros with everything on it. It looked messy and actually made me nauseous as I watched sauce after sauce being layered on top of the sausage, but god, the flavor really melded together just nicely! $3.50 with everything on top. Cheaper alternatives available.
