I went back to Manor Cafe 290 for their 2 item breakfast tacos ($1.50 each). I was so impressed w/ the quality and quantity that I took a pic w/ my phone and posted it for all to see on their page. As you can see, plenty of eggs and I was stuffed for just $3.23!
If you're looking for the best bang for the buck for a straightforward breakfast taco (as opposed to something exotic or unusual), check out Manor 290 Cafe.

This was my first visit to the 290 cafe. I ordered the Fiesta omelet and coffee. I kid you not, my first bite of this dish was like fourth of july and all my Birthdays all at once. I have never tasted an omelet this good, ever, period. The coffee was great, beans and potatoes as sides great too, but this omelet was so good I am taking my father-in-law on Sunday to do it all over again. Oh, service was classic Texas friendly.
See Y'all there in the morning
The Mexican breakfast was wonderful, coffee was out of this world, and service fast and friendly. I'll be back!
Stopped here on the way back from the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm for some lunch. It's a casual diner atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staff. I had Kellee's California Club - generous portion of grilled chicken breast on whole wheat toast with lettuce, tomato, guac (I had them hold the bacon) and fries on the side. And yay, they were steak fries - my fave. I thought $8.79 was just a little pricey for my meal in this kind of establishment - but the sandwich was really good. Jacko had the chicken fried chicken - also good. Definitely a decent stop if you find yourself out that ways.
I have only eaten here with my wife once, and it was for breakfast, but we both thought their food was absolutely fantastic. Great open interior space, with pictures of yesteryear's UT football squad lineups gracing the walls. Considering the quality and heartiness of the food, it seems unsurprising that they would come here for a group meal from time to time. Regardless, I know I had the migas, and they were really really finely prepared. Excellent taste, ingredients, and cooked to perfection. My wife is not a huge breakfast fan, but she also had the migas and was very impressed. I would definitely stop back here for a visit next time I travel through the area.
I've eaten several times at the Manor 290 Cafe and the food has been consistent and delicious. They have the best fried green tomatoes I've ever eaten. The batter doesn't fall apart when you cut into it. I love the chicken fried chicken topped with queso, bacon, onions and tomatoes. Their mashed potatoes with bacon, onions, cheese and sour cream are also pretty yummy. Don't think my calculator can add up all those calories. ;) Here's a photo of a recent visit: http://www.flickr.com/...
