I thought that the chorizo sandwich was a little too salty for me. But I definitely wouldn't hesitate to come back to try other things as there seemed to be plenty of good choices available for your picking when all the other stores are closed.
It is weird and unique in that it is probably one of the two places that are open in Downtown after dark (or before the sunrise) serving food. You sit on a counter in this open-air at a corner so you have a 270 degrees view of a shut-dark downtown. You would be sitting down on a run down counter swivel seats while listening to the friendly banter between the workers and the people eating here (and it doesn't seem like this place is ever empty - there's always a visitor stopping by even if it is only to talk to the workers).
Very quintessential and an experience that you probably won't forget, in a good way.
I wouldn't hesitate to come back here. After all, it is cheap, good, quick and staffed by two friendly people that runs the entire show.

one time, a friend of mine was dropping me off back home (beautiful downtown miami) after a long night of partying but we were kinda hungry. it was probably 3am so my friend said, "lets go to dennys" i said "hell no!"
so we went to manolo & rene cafeteria instead, located in the heart of downtown miami and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. they've been doing this since 1975, so i guess their formula works.
now, this is really a hole-in-the-wall kinda place (my fav?) so, its not the place to go for a business lunch or a romantic breakfast or anything like that. this place is in a corner, under the metro-mover lines, so consider yourself warned.
about what they serve now. they have really good burgers for 3$ they also have this great spanish sausage sandwich which my friend had and became an instant fan of this place we call 'la esquina magica" (roughly the enchanted corner). so you get the clue, this place serves sandwiches, natural juices, beer, french fries ... stuff like that.
so if youre partying by downtown, area51, space, studio a.... and youre hungry, i think you should give it a shot. its totally worth it. cheap as hell and definitely an experience. this place is miami! its a little scary if you're the kinda person who goes to the biltmore for lunch often, but other than that its totally safe.
ignore the homeless who roam around the area. they're harmless and theres usually a couple of cops hanging out there late at night.
so, yeah
munchies
