Can you say FLAVOR...if you do when ordering you are going to get some extra juicy brisket. If you on a diet I would recommend not asking for flavor and you will still get some very good brisket from a good ole boy and his lovely wife. Good people, good service and good food. Mann's is very unique in that your option after enter the door will over whelm you. Pot Roast, Brisket, Ribs, Wraps, Frito Pie (brisket instead of chili) and more than I can remember trying. Remember the secret word is FLAVOR.

Thank you Yelp, for showing me Mann's. I cannot stress enough how delicious this place is. DELICIOUS, I TELL YOU. Mann's is a perfect blend of Texas BBQ and the Southern-style BBQ I grew up with. The pulled pork was so tender. Plus, they have BRUNSWICK STEW. I didn't see it the first time I went, but I am SO trying it the next time I go. I really miss good Brunswick stew.
They gave us free (!) homemade (!!!) chocolate ice cream for dessert. Seriously, these are nice people. GO GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY.

Places like this remind me of why I love Texas.
And mashed potatoes.
And homemade brownies.
And brisket.
Brisket-average, Beef rib-slightly above average, jalap sausage-good, complimentary brownie-good with walnuts, Dublin Dr. Pepper-excellent
Overall a bit above average edible Que. I did not sample the pulled pork that many have expressed enjoyment about, so if that's something you enjoy, you might want to give this place a try. Otherwise, the sausage seemed to be the better choice today and I'm not a frequent consumer of that and can make a better product(Meyer's Elgin garlic) at home in five minutes... Those with average expectations will be happy here. Staff is friendly and room isn't creepy... I went after 1pm and only saw one woman out of 25plus customers... another reason its called Mann's I guess

I really really wanted to like this place! I tried so hard. After seeing the reviews on Yelp for the pulled pork I decided to try the dish with that and the two sides. I got cole slaw and potato salad. There wasn't anything technically "wrong" with the BBQ it was prepared and cooked fine, I just really didn't enjoy the taste at all. And I'm sorry but the potato salad was like bland baby food, completely pureed.
But I give it three stars because the cole slaw was really good and that brownie was awesome. Mostly though I give it the three stars because the guys behind the counter were just awesome. Talking about how we came in friends and were leaving friends, it was super sweet ant they were just so great.

I like this place a lot. I used to work very near to Mann's and my boss would take me to lunch here at least once a week. We even used them once to cater an office party. Probably the only thing I haven't tried there is the pulled pork sandwich, which I see is highly recommended. I will have to go back ASAP and give it a try. I was always a big fan of the chopped beef sandwich. The portion size was big and it was the perfect mixture of meat and sauce - not too dry and not to saucey.

I feel that this place truly does have some tasty beef and chicken. Personally I just like that this is a family owned and run Austin business. They are cheerful and the food is lovely. Yes I can say lovely about barbeque. I will keep this simple and too the fact. Any establishment that remembers my name and what I order then hands me a homemade brownie for dessert has my 5 stars. I will give them 5 stars minus one point for being closed on Sunday. Trust me I know it's the "Lord's Day" (he like barbeque on Sundays too) and all and that people need a day off like any business but I would love to come in on Sunday so that I can be lethargic with Barbeque Gut all day.
I must add the most important thing. When they say "With Flavor or Without" they mean that yummy fat portion on the brisket. What the hell! Just get it "With Flavor". It is awesome tasting. The barbeque sauce adds to the taste of the beef and chicken as opposed to drowning it with a vinegar taste. The Okra is fresh and the Mustard Potatoes Salad is a bit mushy but tastes great. Their Barbeque Chicken Plate is yummy and tender. Comes right off the bone and the Jalapeno Sausage makes me wail like a TRUE TEXAN.

Pulled pork sandwich with homemade cole slaw and a spicy sweet sauce + mashed taters with gravy + IBC Root Beer + free gooey walnut brownie = Kerry's favorite BBQ in town!

A great little BBQ joint. The brisket is excellent, as are the ribs. Try some of the blackberry cobbler too, if they have it. Amazing.
Their service is what really brings you back though. The guys that run this place definitely know how to make you feel at home.

Cheap chopped meat BBQ sandwhich and two sides.
Service was great and they didn't or kick my ass when one of my sides was a salad.
No room for the complimentary ice cream but I'm going back soon
Mann's rules! My fave BBQ place in Austin. The que is delish, with the right mix of salty crust and juicy interior.
Many hyped up bbq places (and I'm looking at you, Salt Lick and Rudy's) have crappy sides. You know what I mean. Coleslaw and potato salad from a tub. Mann's makes everything, and it's all good. Love those green beans. I can't wait to try the fried green tomatoes.
It's old skool, done right.

We only know about Mann's because of another Yelper that used all our favorite expletives. We wanted bbq one day and realized that it was only down the road. So we go and there is no line and we are instantly soaking in the wonderful smell of smoked dead cows and brownies. Holy shit. My favorite things. After I've already drug all of my friends here, I thought it only appropriate that I write a review.
There are tons of folks who agree that Mann's is really good. Their staff is amazing, all items are homemade (seriously) and they have so many great side items that even unhealthy vegetarians can enjoy. Fried okra, fried green tomatoes (breaded and fried when you order them) and the most amazing mashed potatoes you will ever have. As long as you aren't looking for a healthy meal, Mann's is amazing.
They have a parking lot but it gets full at lunch for the rush. After the lunch rush there is plenty of room and usually no wait. The guys there will recognize you if you've been there more than twice (they do have a frequent eater card and you bet it's in my wallet) and on Friday they have free homemade ice cream. I shit you not. Homemade ice cream. They were featured in Texas Monthly's BBQ issue as one of two places featured in Austin. It's a decent price for real food and if you add a ginormous sweet tea (like I do) you'll usually walk out the door for under $10 or $12.
I could go on and on because I've been telling everyone I know how awesome it is. So here's another review talking about how f'ing great Mann's is.

OH MY FUCKING GOD I LOVE THIS PLACE.
We were in Austin for a little over a week last year, got lost our first night off some highway exit looking for anything to eat that wasn't McDonald's or Taco Cabana, and ended up in their parking lot. After that, we ate here at least once a day for our entire stay.
Besides the absurdly low prices for the quantity they pile on your plate, the food is absolutely amazing - the pulled pork and turkey are to-fucking-die for. The sides (mashed potatoes and mac & cheese were my favourites) are so fucking good it makes you fucking use expletives to describe how fucking good it is.
They have some weird sort of brownie (that is free with a meal one or two days a week) that I can only assume is made with crack, because I don't like chocolate and I still had to have one at every fucking visit.
Fuck!
I would consider moving to Texas just to live near this place and get fat.

So many items to choose from and an endless supply of items to look at while you dine. The staff really is friendly and makes eating here a unique experience. When asked if I wanted my brisket lean or "with flavor", I responded lean and was advised I leave my conscience in the car next time I stop in. Very fun. Be sure to ring the bell as you leave if you ate some tasty food!
Only downside I saw was the tables were really close together and there wasn't much room to maneuver.

In an ugly building under an ugly 183 flyover lies the best BBQ in Austin.
Mann's brisket is exemplary - tender, smoky, moist but not greasy. Served with an excellent straightforward Texas barbecue sauce. The beef ribs are giant and so tender that the meat falls off the bone if you look at it funny. They also have pulled pork, pork ribs, sausages (jalapeno and plain), smoked turkey breast, ham and pot roast and they are all perfect.
The sides, also, are too good to be true. They have all the standards: mashed potatoes with brown or white gravy, greens, black eyed peas, butter beans (oh, MAN their butter beans are good!), fried okra, cole slaw, potato salad and more. Most of the time they have fresh, made to order, fried green tomatoes with homemade buttermilk ranch sauce. So good.
Mann's serves Dublin Dr. Pepper - in glass bottles made with cane sugar instead of crappity corn syrup -and that ALONE is worth the trip.
They have great desserts too, cobblers, banana pudding, other things. Some days they have free homeade ice cream or free brownies, and those are both so good you'd gladly pay for them.
The service is friendly, quick and gracious. Go in at lunchtime on weekdays and Mr. Mann himself will slice up your brisket and ask if he should trim it up or if you'd like him to leave on "the flavuh".
The only things that have ever disappointed me about Mann's are: 1) the greens are too salty for me. Different strokes for different folks. 2) they are closed on Sundays and not open real real late on weekdays (8?). I've shown up on Sunday a few times to profound disappointment.
Everyone I've brought to Mann's has loved it. Every one. You'll love it too. Don't be suckered into one of the many touristy BBQ joints in Austin, with good reputations and brisket that tastes like a tire. Come up to Mann's instead. You'll be glad you did.

Best barbeque in North Austin and friendliest barbeque joint staff in town . Plenty of specials, good sides, and great all around barbeque. If you're lucky, the guy there will bring you a free brownie.
