I have been back in Phoenix for 3 years now and Ive become a salon whore..out there looking for "the one". Toni & Guy (crapshoot), Carsten (they make you stand up to get your haircut), Atmosphere (if you like the fresh from Japan, anime look), Vidal (LOVE Marc..but my preference is someone who does BOTH cut & color).So in my journey to find a "Marc" that also does color, I turned to Yelp and on Tuesday I gave The Root (see separate review) a shot due to reviews. I loved the color but the cut, although good, I wasn't "in love" with it. While I was there I remembered looking through InStyle Magazine seeing a spread on "Top Salons" across the country and the only one mentioned in Phoenix was this one..Mane Attraction. Well the next day I discovered the girl that sits next to me goes there, so I checked out their website and felt extremely confident to give them a shot to add some umph to my new do, after viewing their before & afters... So Friday I booked an appointment with Ashley..
When I walked in I was immediately at ease. Not only was everyone super nice (not fake), I loved everyone's cut. They were all different, unique, fun & sexy, yet not juvenile. Well I am happy to say I have found my girl! She spiced up a very good but safe cut, one that much better suits my personality.As long as I live in Phoenix, I vow to remain loyal to Mane Attraction. This salon is just perfect, you couldn't throw a rock and not hit a fantastic cut & color!

For what you pay, and the result, I feel like I could have done much, much better. The color is good, but so far the cut is NOT rocking my world! In fact, I may need to have it fixed elsewhere. I'm going to give it a few days before making the final decision. After all the fantastic reviews, I really expected more.
I felt the employees were insincere with their gushing compliments about my hair. Personally, I thought I looked like I just came home from the beach - not good.
UPDATE: After washing and styling it myself, I think it will be okay. The stylist refused to follow through on our original plan, though, so the front is still too long throughout IMHO. I'll live with it until my next cut, and don't plan on returning to MA.
Be prepared to pay just under $100 for not a haircut, but a hair sculpturing experience by Heather. Her bright smile is followed by silence as she assesses all the critical issues: your head shape, the texture of your hair as both relate to YOUR lifestyle and clothing preferences.
Compliments are great, but I do believe that Heather's decisions in how to shape my hair shaves YEARS off my face, as long as I let her steer the boat (in those decisions).
Overall a very big disappointment. After telling the owner that I wear my hair in a smooth classic bob which needs to be low-maintenance, I was given a trendy cut which took twenty minutes to blow into a curly style using about four different hair products, all of which were aggressively sold throughout the entire visit.
As soon as I got home I washed my hair to get all the greasy product out and discovered that I had the worst haircut I have ever had in my life. A large chunk of hair had just not been cut at all and was hanging down in a clump next to my face.
Fortunately I was able to go to Great Clips and get things corrected, but I would certainly never go back to Mane Attraction again. To add insult to injury, the entire experience cost me close to $300.
this salon is very friendly and NICE. I walked in and was treated with utmost courtesy and respect, taken on a tour and introduced to the owner. My cut was with Ashley, who listened to my hair issues and gave me a great cut. I am going to go back for a color. Stil have to play with my new cut, but so far, so good! I would recommend this salon because of its service, respect and its locally owned.

I don't want to get too swept up considering I just had my first appointment there last week, but...you know what they say about first impressions.
It is important to state first that my three most recent cuts were really, really bad. Sad to report they were at three of the highest rated salons on this site. Needless to say, I was reticent to try a new place and a new stylist, but I didn't really have a choice. So...
Mane Attraction:
Decor - Nice. Local art adorns the walls and is for sale.
Staff - Super friendly. They offered me a tour as soon as I walked in, along with a beverage. The owner greeted me and asked about the cut, etc. A few days later I received a follow up call asking about the services I received.
Products - They sell Bb, which I love. They all seemed very knowledgeable about what products would work best for my hair. I bought some of what they recommended and have been happy so far. Also, they gave me 10% off of products for my first visit.
Price - Yeah, it's a bit spendy, especially if you add on the products you are going to want to pick up. I think my cut was around $65 w/o tip.
Location - Couldn't be better. This salon is right next to Zen 32, Delux, Hava Java, and that gelato place. I would recommend checking out one or more of those places too while you are there.
Services - A guy who was training to be a stylist washed my hair. I think he said they train in the salon for at least a year before they get started cutting. Before the hair washing there was even a brief massage - can't complain about that.
Hair cut - This is the best part! Monica was absolutely amazing. She sat me down before my cut and asked me what I wanted to do with my hair. She listened; I mean really listened. The cut was exactly what I asked for and I don't think that has ever happened before. Also, she was able to fix the damage from the previous bad cuts - and I am pretty sure that was no easy task.
My faith is renewed and until further notice, Monica is my new hairstylist.
Definitely pricey, but worth it for me. Granted, for most of my life I have visited the local barber shop or the chains like supercuts or great clips, so my level of comparison is low. I really like the people here, genuinely nice they remember my name and almost everyone has a smile on their face. I've been going here for the last couple of years and don't anticipate leaving anytime soon.
So I tried a new salon this week and had a fabulous experience. When I first went in I was greeting with a smiling hello from the sweetest receptionist who knew exactly who I was (even though it was my first time). They asked if I would like coffee, tea and a tour of the salon. After I was shown around they sat me down to get my hair washed (which is my favorite part). She then gave me a shoulder rub! That just made my favorite part about getting my hair done even better! She did the exact style I wanted (and that is not common for hair stylists. You say cut an inch and they cut 3). As I was leaving I was shown the products they used that day but didn't feel pressure to purchase at all.
It was well worth the cost and I am so happy I finally found an incredible salon!
