Delicious food, and excellent, wonderful, amazing service. I have been going there for years, but since moving away I only get to visit about once a year--and Mike always remembers me! He's so warm and friendly, and always remembers how much I love the spring rolls--he'll even give me a free order on occasion! (They're really delicious; you should try them.)
Go there, and go there regularly. It's great.
I have been 4 or 5 times, and only been treated well once. The food has always been okay, nothing great, nothing bad, but it doesnt warrant putting up with their staff to come in and eat it. There are a hundred divey chinese restaraunts, that serve deep fried chicken nuggets with a sweet sauce with in 5 miles. What makes MK special?
The first time, sitting in the bar. My wife and I were there for dinner. My wife wasnt hungry, so she orderd an appetize as a meal. She made it clear to the waitress that she wanted it to come out with my food. 20 Minutes later her appetizer comes out. 40 Minutes after that my food comes out. We had anticipated meeting friends at a certain time, and had not planned for a 1 hour wait for a 3 minute deep fried meal. So right when the food arrived I asked for the check. I had to ask about 4 more times, and it took 40 minutes to get the check.
Another time I went in by myself, and had a quick lunch. Didnt ask for anything special, got my food ate it, it was okay, it served its purpose. The waitress comes by with the check sets it on the table, so I say thank you. She responds with a snotty "Yeah". Maybe I am old school, but when I patronize your business, dont feel like you are doing me a favor.
It is too bad, there is an old guy who works there (Maybe an owner), who I picked up a togo order from, and was really nice. Also in the other incedents I described he was there too, but just not assigned our table. He seems nice to his guests and helpful.
Definately one of our favorites if not favorite chinese restaurants in the area. The five flavor beef is our favorite dish, but we have so many here. The lettuce wraps are a good way to start off.
The service is great as well as the food. Highly reccomend.
The food is always SO yummy! We usually get the Mandarin dinner (i think it's "A"), for two. It has a great variety and is always fresh. We usually get it to go, and they put together a big box for us, and we have leftovers for the next day. :)
The family that owns it is SO nice and remember my family well. They have excellent service, and when we dine in, they refill your water constantly, which is great! It is really clean and nice inside.
Definitely my very favoritest chinese restaurant EVER!
This is the best Chinese food in the whole Kent, WA area. I used to live in Asia and I am very picky. I don't know why it doesn't show up in the search for Chinese food near Kent, but if you found it - you found a treasure. It's like a private P.F. Chang's - but with better food and better prices.
It's family-style dining. We ordered entrees for four of us to share and were looking for a vegetable dish on the menu that would go with what we ordered - and that's when the chef insisted on intervening and creating a dish custom for us that would match the flavors of what we had ordered. Who does that? Awesome service.
I love the 5 flavor beef, by the way. You can get a coupon for a free entree if you go to http://cybercoupons.co... . It's worth the drive every time.
Mike and Connie are great owners. We love coming to the the Mandarin Kitchen, even though we live in Seattle. Great menu and Mike is good about adding specials all the time. Try the garlic green beans, they are fantastic!!!
