Extremely DISAPPOINTING.  My family and I used to go here at least 1 a week because it was so close to home and it had pretty decent food for a a good price.  Unfortunately, the service has sent us elsewhere.

The first strike was when my entire family went in for dinner and there was 6 of us total the table.  My dad got the bill and stamped all over the receipt in red was " A 22% service fee has been automatically added" 22%?????? Are they serious? I feel 18% is the standard automatic service fee these days.  The next time we were in, we asked the waitress that we LOVE and she was completely surprised and said that was not usual for Mamma Marias.

The second strike we got the same waitress that issued the automatic 22% service fee.  I picked up dinner for the 4 of us and the bill came out to be $74.  A week went by and I was looking at my credit card charges.  The waitress had ran my credit card through twice, which is completely understandable, it happens, however the two charges did not even match what I had signed for.  Luckily, I kept the receipt!  I explained to my dad how weird the double charge was, so he decided to go into Mamma Marias to speak to a manager.

Which leads me to the third strike.... the manager was so extremely rude to my dad.  He basically called my dad a liar on both encounters and said that their cash register won't even allow a 22% service fee??   A good business man would have told his customer that he will look into the receipts, follow up with the server, and get back to him.  Not this guy!  My dad was so embarrassed that it had gotten to this level that he told the manager he had lost all of our business and we will go elsewhere.

I wanted to at least share this, so that anyone that goes there is careful when it comes to paying the bill!!

Taking a star off because four of us decided to come here for dinner and my was it busy, no open tables so we wait and wait and I even went to the washroom and no one greeted us! The waitress, the busser, even the bartendar walked past us without a single sign of acknowledgement. Extremely rude. I understand you're busy, but we're customers also. Get a host for the so called host stand you have.

We definitely didn't stay for dinner.

Any place that takes our entire family (20ppl) last minute and makes us feel like were part of their family. Wins my vote for a great place to be!

Every time we go into this place we end up knowing other diners from the old country, last night was no exception my parents ran into 4 ppl from a little town in Sicily that they have not seen in 45 years. The happy tears were flowing!

The food was as always great! Fried Calamari excellent as it is supposed to be. Fresh Italian salad crispy and crunchy. Then a whole bunch of pizzas all old style, old school Italian.

The owners are great, service was amazing!

Nothing better than being around folks who appreciate La Famiglia!

Mama Maria's is a definite solid for pizza.   I have also tried a few of the pasta entrees...a good frutti de mar for under $20.   This place delivers the goods here as well.   The staff is attentive and not overbearing.   Nice prices on the vino too!   Bring the kids and enjoy a nice Italian meal that won't break the bank!  Parking is a little cramped...but you always seem to find a spot.

I stopped in here for some din din one night with my bf and my Ps.My dad had eaten there with some friends previously and thought I would like it.

When we entered we were nicely greeted by the owner or who I assume was the owner. We got kind of a crappy seat by the door which mainly sucked because it was freezing out and you know how that goes you warm up and then someone opens the door and your frozen again.

I ordered some merlot that was actually very tasty for a house merlot. The menu had the usual Italian dishes and pizza. We skipped apps and went straight to ordering. Our waitress was not the friendliest but maybe she was just having a bad day. I ordered Shells with garlic, oil and broccoli, my bf got the manicotti which is his favorite dish so he was excited to eat! We munched on bread and oil while we waited, it was ok.

When our meals came I was a little shocked at my BFs dish it had 2 flat tiny manicotti with no side, no veg, pasta nothing! He ate that in 2 mins and then picked at my tastelss meal cause he was still starving. My shells were swimming in more of a 80% water 20%oil pool, very weird. My Ps were disappointed too.Their measl were virtually tasteless. We did see some people who ordered pizza and it looked really crispy,we stared and wished we ordered a pizza instead.

Oh yea one thing that I did love about Maria's was that they brought you a carafe of water with lemon.I love that since I drink a lot of water and the bus boys never can keep up.

I wish I had a better meal here since it would be a nice close family ran type place to frequent but that just isnt going to happen for me.

My dad and I checked out this place when it opened years ago and have become true fans on their pizza! Service in their dining room can vary, but the food worth the wait!

The quality has gone down. The pizza uses cheap cheese and the sauce is fair. The prices have gone up.
The dinners are a total rip-off because of the small portion size and poor recipes. Sandwiches are the only reason why I didnt give one star.

Did not like their thin crust pizza at all.  It was awful.  Cheese and toppings fell right off the slices.  Sausage tasted weird sauce had no zing to it.  I only forced myself to eat cuz I was starving from work. YUCK

A coworker took a group out to this restaurant for lunch. He's a local regular. I keep intending to order something else but we keep coming back for the pizza. The crust is perfectly thin and crispy. The service was very courteous. I've only been there for lunch. I'd love to come back for Dinner. I wasn't expecting the white table cloths and the full bar. As a long time Chicagoan, I thought there wasn't civilization in the Western Suburbs.

Place makes a decent pizza. I had 2 different thin crust pizza's from Mamma  Maria's, a spinach, mushroom, sausage, and onion and a tomato sausage. All the ingredients tasted very fresh and there was good coverage over the pizza. The crust is decent, nothing spectacular just pretty much tasted like you would expect. Cheese was cooked to perfection, with the majority of the pizza just on the edge of turning brown, and scattered browned cheese throughout. My only grievance would be the sauce, it is a little on the sweet and thin side, but that is a matter of preference, so if you like the sweeter sauces this place may be 5 stars for you.

In Bensenville for business, I found their menu in the hotel's local eatery guide and decided to try it.  I was very pleasantly surprised by exterior of the  building's welcoming appearance.  I wasn't disappointed when I went inside either.  Nicely decorated, somewhat modern, white table cloths and cloth napkins, well lit  with enough separation between tables to make conversation comfortable, plus the music was subtle, not too loud as is often the case in restaurants today.

We ordered the calamari with our drinks and both came quickly, the calamari tasted quite fresh and would have been enough for a meal.  You can build your own pizza or order one of about a dozen specialty pizza's along with build your own pasta dish.   I ordered a pasta dish from the menu, my companion a 12 inch pizza which he 'built'.  They had a good wine selection as well as several beers to choose from.  Our food came in about 15-20 minutes, was hot and very tasty with larger portions than either of us could eat at one time.   The main fault I could find is that they only had one server working the entire room.  Granted, it was Wednesday night and they probably didn't expect to be too busy.  However at one point, the room was full and she was running  to keep up.  Kudos to her, though, she did an admirable job.  Visit this restaurant if you want a traditional Italian dinner with freshness and flavor.  It was a pleasant find for a mid-week business trip.
