As soon as we found this place in Maui, we didn't go back to the super cheesy tourist places you can find all over Maui.   Super huge portions of delicious meat and sides + friendly staff...

YUMM

Everytime I'm in Maui and I stay in Napili this is the place I could eat every night! I always get the Teriyaki Citrus Chicken which is super tasty!

I doubt you will be disappointed!

I wasn't expecting great BBQ ribs, as they are in HI and a strip mall, which means, it's HI and there probably isn't any BBQ or old old dirty smoker about.

I was surprised by the chicken though, and I would go back for that alone.

I grabbed a combo of ribs and chicken to go, sat on the beach at the Hyatt Maui and enjoyed the sun, fresh air, the views of Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe islands and the food.

The rotisserie chicken was awesome... so Moist, not too greasy, so tender and the meat tears off with ease.

The ribs were just ok.  You can certain tell that they aren't smoked, as they don't have the bluish pink hue that a smoked rib typically has.  The meat was a bit dry for my taste, though not over-cooked!

The mac salad was ok, very plain, not a lot of lingering flavors.

OMG, sooo good!!  I love coming here after spending the day at Napili Bay.   The ribs are awesome, the meat falls right off the bone and the sauce is so flavorful.  You also get 2 sides to go along with the ribs, I always get the rice and mac salad.  Lunch for 2 is around $20, which is great and you can head in there right off the beach.  LOVE that.  I've also had the spinach lasagna and that is fabulous as well.

Oh man.

This could be my bad for going to a rib/rotisserie joint and ordering a vegetarian meal, but how can you screw up spinach lasagna?  Use canned spinach, that's how!  After we ordered 2 spinach lasagnas and some salads to go, we waited five minutes, heard the microwave bell ding, and out comes our to go boxes...Nasty, never again!

I will say that the staff was very friendly and customer oriented.

Cash only.

This is our second jaunt at this place.
Ribs are a little on the dry side but flavor of the sauce very good.
It's dry-type prepared, not like they were sitting out for a long time.
I've been to the Reno rib festival and most of their ribs are juicy and have a little juicier.

This is a little place in a strip mall whose back is facing the main drag that connects lahaina to kannapali to kapalua in the city of napili.

They have melt off the bone pork ribs with a slightly tangy/sour sauce covering them,  A quarter rack is about 4 ribs and is adequate for lunch.  It comes with rice and your choice of mac salad or beans,

I got to figure the beans don't sell well because after all it is Hawaii and Mac Salad is the other option and well the Mac Salad here is very tasty!  Better than most mac salads on Maui.

Wifey has the pot roast which was also tender and had a hearty brown gravy,  It was very good on the rice.  Add in a fruit juice and you are set.

This is mostly a takeout place but the food was served promptly and we enjoyed our lunch at the tables out side the restaurant.  Service was great and fast

Visiting Maui with the family and decided we wanted to eat in for the evening.  Did not want the hussle of going out to eat in Downtown Lahania.  Decided on the Citrus Teryaki Chicken.  That was great....very moist and tender, even the breast.
The baby back ribs were very tender as well and fell right off the bone.  The BBQ sauce is nothing to write home about, however I am not a big fan of lots of BBQ sauce on my ribs so that was great.
The baked beans have good flavor as does the macoroni salad.  Definitely recommend for a low key evening.

Yum!! We went here on our last day in Maui and I was not disappointed. I got a combo meal with ribs and chicken and it came with the standard rice and mac salad. I loved it!! The chicken and ribs were both delicious. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich and was happy with his choice as well - he especially liked the beans which to me tasted more like chili kind of. :)

Check it out!!

Wow! This place is amazing!! I haven't left the island yet but I felt compelled to let everyone know that this BBQ place is fantastic and resonably priced. Had the pork baby back ribs, portugese soup, beans, and mac salad. The ribs are so tender they fall right off the bone. The soup was amazing with big chunks of sausage, beans and veggies. After a day of snorkeling & swimming this place hit the spot. You should work up an appetite first because the portions are big.

Hmmmmmm....
Had the..
... half rack of baby backs....very tender...fell off the bone...sauce a bit much
... kula greens salad with oriental dressing...not extremely fresh looking but qualifies as greens (maybe because we ordered at 7pm?)
... pot roast - very tender meat - very salty overall
... baked beans - very sweet but overall very good
... cole slaw - finally, something not overseasoned - done great
... rice - great with the pot roast gravy!

I appreciate the fact that for a decent price this place at least prepares their meat correctly. I picked up the baby backs by the bone and the meat came off cleanly.  Love it.   I've been in fancier establishments that have not learned this yet.  However, the gravies are bit overwhelming.   If they could ease up on the salt/flavoring some and let the natural flavors shine through I would score higher.

Great for a quick bite for me but  next time I might wait to shell out some bucks for a higher end place.

Cash only.

We came here right before we caught our flight back to Oahu. I wanted to eat just a little something and after reading their menu I really wanted to try their Portuguese Bean Soup. We couldn't decide what we wanted to so we ended up getting their Beef Stew, Portuguese Bean soup, and Chili (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) All three were very good. My personal favorite was the chili, super tasty and I just love it when they put corn in chili. The beef stew meat was super tender and had a little bit of a curry taste to it. The Portuguese soup just made you feel really good, especially when your eating two other pretty heavy dishes.  When we come back to Maui I'm definitely hitting this place up again.

We stopped here to pick up a rack of ribs and a whole roast chicken for dinner.  The chicken was huge and quite tasty.  I believe the counter person said that they brine their chickens before roasting which made the chicken moist and flavorful.  The ribs were tender and also flavorful as well, however, these are not BBQ ribs in the traditional sense.  After visiting several different restaurants around Maui on our last trip, I have come to realize that ribs in Hawaii can take many forms, none of which resemble BBQ ribs like we are used to on the mainland.  This establishment does not purport to be a BBQ restaurant so in fairness for this review, we enjoyed the chicken and ribs, and had enough left over for the following day's lunch.

I bow down to Mama.

WOW, living in Oakland I had no shortage of tasty ribs, but these were just perfect. The sauce was so smokey good that I could drink it straight up. If you know Ribs you know these were slow cooked the right way. Oh so tasty. Helps probably a little bit that I picked these up to go to eat on the beach with my new wife...but still. I did find the sides to be lacking in variety and flavor. I'd like to see some Mac n Cheese instead of Mac Salad. But that's just me.

Delish! We were starving after Kapalua Beach and we wandered into the Napili Plaza. Ribs sounded good to our grumbling stomachs. This is not the typical sit down restaurant, its more like a fast food restaurant style. We ordered at the counter: a bbq pork sandwich with beans and chips and a 1/4 ribs with macaroni salad and beans, along with a small drink, the total came out to be $20. We had to wait to pick up our order and find a table, either inside or outside. Like the previous reviews, the ribs were tender and the sauce is poured over the ribs rather than simmered in the sauce. The trade off is you can really taste the pork and the sweet sweet tenderness, but the sauce can be overpowering to some people. The bbq pork sandwich reminds me of a sloppy joe and it was delicious as well!!

Although everyone raved about the ribs, we were Kalua porked out, so we went with the very moist chicken. Better than average and generous portions. Not a fan of the Portugese bean soup, but all the other sides were devoured.

Don't confuse this place with Mama's Fish House, where it costs $100 to have lunch. Mama's Ribs & Rotisserie is the polar opposite. A tiny, nondescript storefront in the Napili Plaza strip mall offering a simple menu of Portuguese bean soup, steamed baby back pork ribs slathered in delectable BBQ sauce, chicken teriyaki, beef pot roast, chili, baked beans, and salads. This is local-style plate lunch done right. There is zero ambiance inside, but they have a few tables set up outside, too. If you take your meal to go, make sure you grab plenty of extra napkins.

Yummy ribs. I got the 1/2 rack of ribs with macaroni salad and rice for $13.50.  Good deal.  The ribs are nice and tender.  The sauce is good, not the best I've had, but the tenderness of the meat more then makes up for it.  I had a taste of my buddy's beef stew and that was really good.  I wish I bought some of that too.   This place is at the end of a strip mall.  You won't impress any dates bringing them here.  Nonetheless, this place is great for the price.  My cravings for ribs has been fully satisfied.

8 a.m:  High Surf Advisory in the NW Maui area.  My teen boy Pat is champing at the bit to get back up to the beaches north of Kapalua.  We go back to D.T. Fleming since I don't want to leave him at the unguarded beaches (I know he'd have been fine, but he never gets out of the surf or takes breaks anywhere so I didn't need that motherly worry!)
9 a.m:  Pat gets dropped off.  Mom is jealous since the surf is lookin' great for boardin' but 5 year old wild child needs monitoring and even the whitewater isn't safe for little guys.  So, we take off to calmer waters.
10-11:am:  Little guy and I go to Kapalua Beach for less chop in the surf.
11-2:45:  Back at the pool at the Kahana place where we are staying.
3:00:  I'm getting nervous since boy Pat has the metabolism of several horses and I know he has not left that surf and is running on empty.
3:15:  Finally, I get a "Hey, Mom??" phone call
3:30:  We're packing into the car for the pickup
3:35:  Another "Hey, Mom??  Can you pick me up now?" hungry phone call
3:45:  Pickup
3:55:  Arrive Mama's
3:56:  Order ribs and combo plates.
4:05:  Back at Kahana place and scarfing down a very late lunch

Mama's, we sure love you!
Food:  4.0 stars.  Even Pat conceded that I make the world's best ribs; but these were pretty darn good and a huge serving.  Roast chicken was kind of uneven and a tad salty, but still a big serving and hit the spot.  Great  baked beans, creamy macaroni salad and HUGE scoops of rice.  Good plate lunches.
Service: 5.0 stars.  Fast!  Just like my boys' metabolism!
Ambiance:  5 stars since I spotted one of those cute local lifeguards from the area catching a late lunch there as well.  Do you think I really noticed much else about the ambiance?  I think there were tables....yeah, he was sitting down, so there had to have been...

Overall, a sweet deal in overpriced Maui.  I know my boy Pat will never forget you!

Looking for bottom line strip mall to-go or fast food eat-in with local eats, then you've hit the jackpot.  Fast and clean, they were blaring Ragge when we were there. Had a pulled pork on a bun with beans and a bag of chips for around eight bucks, needed a little more sauce.  The ribs were OK but methinks just boiled with bbq sauce lathered on, didn't taste grilled or actually bbq'd.  $22 for a full rack of about 12 ribs.  Oh well, we were looking for cheap and funky and that what we got.  For same price or even a little cheaper, Aloha Mixed Plate has it way beaten.
