Best D@#$ Pizza in Arlington - 5 Stars

You ever have a place that always turns out great food on a RELIABLE basis, and then kind of ignore it to try some new place you've just read about? Well, shame on you and shame on me.

Mama's has about the most distinctive flavored crust of any pizza joint around. And it's always good. So why do I stray to other joints like Domino's or Pizza Hut or (shudder) Mr. Jim's? Because I'm not close enough to a Mama's for delivery! That answer your question, Mr. Nosey?

So I usually just remember to pick some up whenever we go over to my mother-in-laws and its our turn to bring the food. $23.99 for a 20" Mama's 3 topping pizza. A lot of pizza. But then I always order extra so I can have my second favorite pizza--Leftover Reheated Pizza.

Now here's a valuable tip about Mama's Pizza. It makes a great reheated pizza, but only if you heat it in the oven. Don't even think about nuking it in a microwave. Pizza should be crisp and only a 400 degree oven can do the trick. Make sure to use the center rack as well. Don't overcook it, just cook til its warm throughout.

Convenience rules over loyalty in America, and I guess I'm no exception, so I'm making a New Year's resolution a little early this year.

RESOLVED: Do not take for granted the things in life that are tried and true or they may go out of business or divorce your sorry a**. (Actually, that's a combination of two of my most important resolutions).

Mama's is great for lunch! Their pizza buffet, salad bar, and a drink will only run you about $7. Not bad.

I think the pizza is good, but when you compare this place to something like Nizza Pizza, it just doesn't compare.

The staff has always been polite and friendly.

Almost as good as the pizzas  I use to make at the Mama's off of Greenoaks.

Very cheesy and buttery pizza.  Sauce is almost non-existent.  Almost more like cheese bread than pizza.  Not bad, but not my idea of pizza.

An Arlington Classic, the best pizza.
I don't like thick crusted pizza, but they have the best hot or cold left over from the night before it's all good.. and the service is good as will.

The pizza is pretty much the best pizza around. I've been going to the original one since I was super young.

One time my brother played happy birthday on his cornet for my grandma there when I was like 9. Crazy right? We used to get pretty nuts back when we lived in Watauga. But I digress.

If you can ever get one of the teenage girls working at the counter to stop text messaging and take your order, you will not be disappointed. We always get a hamburger pizza with creamy italian dressing for the crust. I eat here at least a couple of times a month.

Some of the best pizza I've ever had. Their weekday lunch buffet is a major bargain. Just pizza and a limited salad bar. But it's all about the pizza.

The crust is rubbed with garlic butter, so it's like eating breadsticks.

A very unique pizza. Pricey, but worth it. I've been eating Mama's Pizza since the 80's back at some of their Fort Worth, TX locations.

You won't be disappointed.

Great alternative to the "other" pizza buffet in town; however, there are only four pizzas and limited salad.  The pizzas are always fresh and readily replaced, as the pies last only a few minutes before being gobbled up by happy customers.  (There seem to be five toppings in rotation at varying amounts per pizza, and there are always four pizzas on the bar.)  Pricing wasn't bad at $6.50 a head, sans drink, for the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet.  Atmosphere is true to the home-grown-pizza-joint persona.

This Arlington classic was once located near UTA.  Your basic classic American thick crust pizza.  Make sure you try the Italian Salad which is piled high with shredded mozarella and pepperoni.

This review is partly for my brother, who only comes back into Arlington maybe 3 times a year.  As a child, he was a Mama's Pizza fanatic, and then they moved away.  When they returned about 5 years ago, he has never thought twice about ordering it at least once while in town.  The pizza is your basic mom-and-pop hand rolled thick crusted pizza.  It's a very well done pie, with a heaping mound of cheese and crust that can really support it.  A bit too oily for my taste because of the overwhelming amount of cheese, but nothing disappointing.  Because I went to high school not even 5 minutes from this location, the $7-even lunch buffet is a real treat.  I once went with about 15 friends for lunch, and they were constantly out of pizza for the next 30 minutes.  The buffet offers their fresh pizzas with a variety of about 5 different pies at a time.  Truly a pizza place you must visit while in Arlington seeing as there are no other really good joints around.
