An awesome location for some seafood and people-watching in the Canton neighborhood. However, rumor is that outdoor seating is highly requested, so I recommend making a reservation.
You name your favorite seafood dish, whether it's raw oysters, seafood chowder, blackened tuna, shrimp salad, etc., etc., etc., this place has it. Their menu can seem a little overwhelming at first with so many options, but don't worry the staff is super friendly and willing to give you a few suggestions. I came here with a big group, all ordering something different and everyone was happy and satisfied, so that says something right there.
I'm not going to break down every meal, but I will tell you that if your in the mood for a sandwich, go with the seafood club. It's huge and you'll need a doggie bag. Nice thick toast, mayo, shrimp salad, crab cake (or fried oysters) and scallops topped off with cheese and bacon. Pretty much everything awesome ever, in one sandwich.
Some other tips, the salads aren't your normal wimpy salads, they're "man" salads and the Mac-n-cheese is not to be missed just because it's on the kiddie menu.
It is hard to find a better restaurant in Baltimore. The crab cakes are the best in Baltimore and their cole slaw is something ridiculously awesome. The seafood chowder and tuna tar tar are also some incredible dishes that they offer.
The only thing that i've tried here that I was slightly disappointed with was the calamari, it was entirely too breaded and the sweet and sour sauce that comes with it doesn't seem like a good match.
My only beef with this place is that there is always a wait to get a table and the bar is entirely too small for comfort. We go to Mama's at least once a month.
Well call me a Mama's boy from now on. Nice food and great service. The place was packed on an early Saturday afternoon and we sat at the Oyster bar.
The Oysters were fresh, the tuna and soft crab sandwiches were excellent. Interesting drinks (e.g. my wife had yummy grapefruit/vodka drink) and the ambiance was great as well.
Was Oscar Wilde was in charge of decorating the 2nd floor? VERY fun decor including antique oyster plates on display. love it! the food and the staff are great too!

Okay - Mama's totally disappointed me this time. After choosing to come to typically reliable Mama's over a new spot...they screwed me.
If it's possible to get salt poisoning - that's what I had after having a lunch of seared scallops from here. I had to cut off the seared surfaces of my jumbo scallops because of the overseasoning. My suspicion is that they used wet scallops, instead of dry - a big no-no for searing. Because wet scallops are soaked in a salt solution for preservation and plumping purposes, they are also cheaper. On the other hand, wet scallops will not sear properly - unless, you coat each side heavily with dry seasoning to make a crust. It's either this - or the cook got heavy handed with the old bay.
The result: me sitting in a nearby coffee shop for an hour after lunch, unable to move because I felt so gross. After a ton of water to rehydrate and coffee to clear off my taste buds - I decided that I would avoid going back to mama's again. This makes me so sad because I've had such great experiences here before, but this was what I classify as an unforgivable culinary disaster
Furthermore, I really didn't appreciate the waiter using an overly aggressive tone while correcting me with, "PAN seared scallops?" when I ordered "seared scallops." What a redneck.

This place makes me realize how underrated and neglected the baltimore restaurant scene is.… Read more »
Really good stuff all around. I had the filet but I got to try some of the scallops and those were where its at. I went here with my family and everything that I tried was awesome.
I hope to get a chance to go back and eat here soon. The atmosphere was really good and even though it was slammed, the service was good.
Call me a Mama's girl--because I'll never love another the way I love you, Mama's. I'll go so far to say I'm considering relocating to Baltimore primarily for the perk of being within closer proximity to Mama's. It's that magnificent!
Ambiance - 5 stars. Standard-laid-back-nothing-to-prove-chill Baltimore scene. Situated on a sweet little corner of Canton Square - this place is vivacious.
Food - 6 stars. I said it. This is the best food seafood I've ever tasted. I sampled a little of everything. The Pan Seared Scallops take the cake. You can order them as an entrée or as an appetizer. As an appetizer, you receive three plump scallops atop a potato cake and creamed spinach. You'll be licking the plate clean, I did. In the words of my dining companion, these scallops are 'better than kisses'. The Seafood Skins are LOADED with scallops, crabmeat and entire pieces of shrimp, covered in melted cheddar and sour cream. The oysters rock here. I ordered 3 Conways, and 3 of whatever else the server recommended. A little lemon juice, cocktail sauce, hot sauce, Old Bay and sea salt and these suckers were money. The Mac n' Cheese is too good to pass up.
Beverages - 4 stars. Don't know whether to classify oyster shooters as food or bev, regardless I'm led to believe the Blue on Blue was conceived specifically for my consumption. Cocktail sauce, an oyster and 4 oz. of PBR in a tumbler, shazzam. Just remember to mix before shooting; otherwise you get a nice think chaser of straight up cocktail sauce. And PBR on tap is an automatic 4 star review in the beverage department for me, I'm partial.
Service - 4 stars. Service was good, no complaints, nothing extraordinary. I was too caught up in the masterpiece of a meal to really pay much attention to the service.
If you have an aquired taste for everything seafood this is the place to try out. Great restaurant and bar for locals known to the Baltimore City area.
They have a great menu including appetizers that could fill you up as a meal with Q-10 scallops the size of your fist and a killer crab dip.
Don't let the two story narrow restaurant fool you. This place gets packed, especially during the weekends and at night.
Best weekend activity is to bar hop the Canton Square area. Most restaurants have outdoor seating.
Everything was great!!! We went with a group (me particularly looking for good crabcakes) and everyone loved their dishes! Crabcakes were great, the fish n chips dish included a humongous fish with actual chips, not fries, even someone liked their filet, and the sides were awesome...the crust on the mac n cheese was nicely baked for a great crunch, someone mentioned the coleslaw was delish...
I am definitely coming here again and bringing any out-of-towners, as well! The downstairs is the bar area and upstairs is more of the restaurant area. It is small, so I would definitely makes reservations (even on a Monday night).
Very cool vibe. Only had a beer here but I loved the atmosphere and the food looked really good and fresh. The bar was packed at dinner time and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Definitely will go here next time I'm in town and get me some seafood!!!
I have heard the brunch is REALLLLLY good.
This place was fantastic!!!
I was so looking forward to Mama's on the Half Shell, after reading all the great reviews here...and I left feeling slightly disappointed. And now I feel guilty for feeling disappointed and not loving it, but anyway. I really like Nacho Mama's, two doors down, so I expected to love this place, too.
The BF and I came here on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch. I liked the atmosphere right away. We sat ourselves in the bar area and promptly ordered two Blue on Blues--oyster shooters with PBR and hot sauce. Really, really good, and each one was only $3. We thought this meant good things for the meal, and we were excited to order...except the server would *not* come take our order; she wouldn't even look our way!
We finally ordered the Oyster Po' Boy ($9.99), Fish and Chips ($14.99) and a side of Mac and Cheese ($2.75). The Po' Boy was fantastic. Four tender fried oyster on a very nice bun (homemade?) with coleslaw and slightly spicy tartar sauce. The fries were hot and crispy. Very nice! I would go back and get this for sure.
The Fish and Chips were...well, the piece of cod was gigantic, so you got your money's worth. The fish was slightly overbreaded, but was pretty good. But what do you think about when you hear "Fish and Chips"? British, right? I.E., Fish and French Fries. Nope. Fish and *Potato Chips*. It does not say this on the menu, so it was quite a surprise. The BF was very unhappy, and in the end I traded him my french fries to make him happy. I think the potato chips were homemade and had Old Bay on them. Good, but not what we expected, so it was kind of disappointing.
The mac and cheese was so-so; my version is actually much better and much less oily (cheap cheese, I guess), but it was respectable.
Lunch cost us over $40 for two entrees, two shooters, a beer and a side. No lunch menu, I assumed.
Would I go back? Hmmm...I don't get up to Baltimore that often, so I'm not sure I would make a trip just for this. The po' boy was really, really good, but I think I might prefer Nacho Mama's, in general. But I did hear the Bloody Mary's here were excellent, so I'd love to try one of those!
My best friend and I were visiting an old friend that now lives in Baltimore for the weekend.
During this visit, I was on a conquest to find the ultimate Maryland crabcake. Anyone whose anyone knows about Maryland crabs.
It was on my have-to-try-before-I-die list.
I looooved Mama's! It had a great feeling to the place. Almost like Irish Pub (obv I know how that feel is being from Boston) but it has a vintage ship look in an old building. Just awesome. Plent of seating. We didn't have to wait at all during on a busy Sunday afternoon rush!!!
We knew ,by our penny-pinching friend, that Baltimore is into saving money with the hottest new deals on cheap beers and food!(or is it just him????)
However, if you're so busy nickle and diming most of the time why not splurge a little on an upscale place like this!!! ..That's prob just the Bostonian part of me talking.
We sat upstairs, sporting some heavy hangovers.
We were quickly cured with the excellent service from a smart mouthed server that we loved!!
Our other friend couldn't keep his head up during lunch and our server gave him a hard time. It was funny. He kept asking him if he was going to be alright and asking how much he drank last night. It's a rule. You MUST rag on the person with the worst hangover!!! Flick their ears..pull their hair!
Ok so how was my crabcake you ask? Unbelieveable. Earth shattering.
Omg delicious. And not that huge of a splurge in price.
Totally worth the thorough searching of a good place to get a crabcake.
I would definitely go back here if in the area again.
No question about it!!!
I live in DC and my cousin was in town and wanted crab cakes. She'd never been to b'more, so I looked on yelp bc I wanted something out of inner harbor area. 4 of us went. Sat outside. Attentive waitress, great food, good atmosphere. Cool little area with several other restaurants and bars. Highly recommend it!
i love seafood!! these guys deliver.... very good and the service is awesome
FABULOUS bloody mary!! I love the pickled green beans - yummi. Even more fabulous mac & cheese, and great wings. I have no idea what they did to the wings but the skin is perfectly crispy and the meat is so tender and juicy.
Yum! Yum! Being from out of town, I searched Yelp for a good seafood place in Baltimore, and we decided to go to Mama's! It was well worth it. We sat upstairs, and the room was so historic yet cute. We had a great server, and the food was even better.
I'll def go back the next time we're in town!
Mama's is, hands down, my FAVORITE restaurant in Baltimore and one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Since I now live in Arlington, my only regret is not discovering this gem sooner, i.e. when I actually lived less than an hour away. A meal at Mama's is now a requisite of any visit home and the first place I recommend when making plans to meet up with anyone while in town. I've never done brunch here, but there's not a doubt in my mind that's its probably fabulous.
Pro's... EVERYTHING. Even the small size (aka limited seating and unpredictable wait times) that I would usually complain about is a pro here, because it adds to the intimate local-neighborhood-restaurant vibe. I love the decor... deep colors, velvet tapestries, Victorian window seats, dark wood, a fireplace, and old-timey photos and memorabilia featuring sea life and Baltimore. Looks and sounds like it should be formal, but instead is super cozy and just a really enjoyable ambiance.
The food, though... OMG, the food.
There is not a single thing I have tried at Mama's and not enjoyed. Yes, I like oysters - but I don't really love 'em and usually they're not close to my first choice on a menu. But here, I like them any and every way that Mama's make them. Fried or raw, on a sandwich or on a salad, drowned in rich stew or wrapped in sizzling bacon, they are amazing. My favorites are the Devils on Horseback (bacon-and-hot-sauce-heaven... if you are anti-hot sauce, go for the "Angels" version instead) and the Seafood Club (a ginormous whopper of a sandwich featuring layers of fried oysters - or crab cake, if you are a hater - and shrimp salad). The oyster stew is great. And so are the raw oysters. And so is the Po Boy. And so are any of the other seafood items that I've tried, particularly the rotating nightly specials.
Two of the best gems on the menu aren't even seafood. One is the Old Bay Wings (a must order... be careful to order the right ones since they offer two other kinds... which of course are also good but just not AS good). The other is the Mac and Cheese, easily subbed as a side dish in place of fries and served as a generous portion in its atery-clogging, unbelievably cheesy, bread crumb-topped glory. My brother's girlfriend never strays from the Reuben - although at first I gave her a hard time for ordering a deli sandwich, ever since trying I've kept my mouth shut because it, too, is stellar. Honestly, I've never had a bad meal here.
The bar area is always cramped despite stretching the entire length of the lower floor, but the people boozing there never seem to mind. If you do end up waiting for a table, definitely grab a drink at the bar. People looove to recommend the Orange Crush - I've never had it. They do have the most excellent Bloody Mary I've ever experienced.
TIP: Although the main seating is upstairs, There are a few tables on the first floor in the front of the bar and one more in the back... but beware, it can get noisy down there. These seem to work fine for regulars, but if it's your first trip to Mama's, I would highly recommend hanging on for a table in the upstairs dining room to get the full experience.
The only thing I can't speak to is Mama's dessert... because with Vaccaro's right at the end of the block, you've gotta make a stop there for an Italian pastry or gelato if you have even a tiny amount of space left in your tummy. Which isn't likely. Luckily, there's always carryout so you can save that napoleon or cannoli until after you've fully recovered.
If you like seafood or a place that caters to Baltimore dishes, this is the place for you. On weekends it can get crowded and loud and I highly recommend reservations (the average age also gets younger the later it gets). On a typical night I would say that the average age is about 30. On weeknights it is more of a local crowd and there is more elbow room to enjoy your fantastic meal. One note of caution- their crab cakes are disappointing- take a pass on them (all backfin with little or no lump and a little too much filler).
I recommend the mama's house salad, tuna tar tar appetizer, mac and cheese, and any fresh oyster they have when you go. The on tap beer selection is pretty good too with some local favs regularly available. They usually have a catch of the day on the daily menu - that is always a great choice- especially if you top it off with sauteed lump crab meat. Yum.
While you are there, be sure to take a look at the many pictures and items on the walls. You will find a picture of Babe Ruth's dad there (he was a local butcher) and many American Legion Post pieces that were found in the walls of this building when it was being renovated.
"There's four in our party, not three"
I came here with a three of my college friends, one of whom was craving raw oysters. This was my first experience eating oysters, and I thought it was good one. We ordered a mixed platter that came with 12 oysters, 4 of three different kinds. Our main entrees, however were not as impressive. My friend ordered a tuna steak medium, and it was overcooked.
I think was disappointed me the most about this restaurant was the service. I don't know if our server couldn't count or something, but she kept bringing us our plateware/silverware three at a time, and she would always have to run back to the kitchen to fetch one more. We didn't have enough of the little forks for our oyster course, and she never came back with them even after we requested them. She only brought us three plates, so we had to wait for her to get the last one. And to top that all off, when it came time to split the check, she said she could only take a maximum of three credit cards. Which is fine, I guess, but we all found it a little amusing. If I ever crave raw oysters again, I'd come back here, but not for anything else.
On a crazy culinary run through Baltimore, I found myself on the corner of O'Donnell and South Linwood Avenue making my way through the crowded space of Mama's on the Half Shell on a late Sunday afternoon.
Asked if we wanted to sit upstairs or down, we chose up because it looked less crowded. Choosing upstairs to sit is a much better choice if you want a more private experience. If you're there to socialize and meet people, hang out downstairs by the bar and restrooms.
We were in a rush as one of our dining companions had a plane to catch and we decided on getting a dozen raw oysters on the half shell. They offered three varieties - Bluepoint, Cotuit, and Malpeque, I think. At $18.50/dozen or $9.50/half dozen, it's a pretty good deal for a couple of people from Vegas.
After the first dozen, two of our companions had to jam but we wanted more oysters. And that meant two more rounds of oysters for us. The mignonette they served complimented the oysters nicely and it tasted so fresh! Yum yum!
We tried ordering their Steamed P.E.I Mussels ($7.99), but realized they had just run out. Figuring we had other restaurants to hit in Baltimore, we said adieu after three dozen oysters.
The highlight of this place is their oysters, of course. Their service could use some improvement though. When we mentioned that we were in a hurry, the waitress simply nodded and continued on to the next table without bothering to bring our order to the kitchen. We never got silverware until the second round of oysters arrived. (And that's only because I asked another waitress for it.)
The stairs in the back have a funky smell, so watch out. Not sure if it's because it's near the restrooms or what, but I almost wanted to gag as I proceeded down the stairs. (One of the girls in the restroom mentioned that the toilet stall she was in was having some problems with the flushing...as in, the toilet wouldn't flush.)
On the way out, I asked the waiter if they had a business card. He responded back that HE (personally) did not have a business card. And then I think he realized then I was asking about the restaurant and not himself! Duh! Another waiter gave me their menu to go since they don't have any business cards. This waiter was pretty nice about telling me when I should call for reservations for large groups and stuff.
Overall, I'd go back for more oysters on the half shell. They offer a bunch of other things like 8 oz filet mignon wrapped in bacon ($21.99) or blue cheese crusted ($21.99). You can get your classic seafood dishes here like fresh fish, crab cakes ($14.99), scallops ($19.99), and fried shrimp platters ($15.99). They offer a variety of sandwiches like Fried Oyster PoBoys ($9.99) and Tuna Steaks ($8.99). They also offer clams on the half shell and steamed jumbo shrimp ($14.99).
I'm a fan because I didn't want to stop eating my meal. Unfortunately, I couldn't take it with me, which made me very sad. One more reason to dislike hotel rooms.
Last Saturday night we (husband, brother, sis-in-law), and I went to Mama's for dinner. It was crowded, but a group hadn't shown for its reservation, so we were escorted right to our table. It must have been in the stars.
The guys had oysters on the half shell mix (three of each kind available) and they liked them well enough. The local ones were the best. The non-oyster eaters had the cheese and crackers that evidently are the before-dinner-snack. When was the last time you had port wine cheese and pepper jelly over cream cheese? (The pepper jelly was mixed into the cream cheese, but it was still yummy.) Why did these ever disappear anyway?
Now for the best part: I had the halibut wrapped in prosciutto over white beans with pesto. The halibut was about an inch thick, perfectly cooked (moist, flaky) and enclosed in wonderfully, crunchy, salty ham. The white beans were perfect as well, enveloped in a savory, basil seasoned sauce. The basil was enough for flavor, but in no way did it overpower the rest of the seasonings. It was about as close to heaven as I've ever had.
The others had either soft-shell crab (not very soft shelled) and scallops. Mac and cheese was a side, but it needed something to set it apart. Maybe a tad bit of bleu cheese.
No one had anything close to the supreme yumminess I had.
The more upscale cousin of Nacho Mama's, this place is solid in its own respect. As mentioned, great Bloody Mary's and excellent seafood pub grub.
I ordered the cream of crab soup they had for their special and it tasted like creamed salt. It was disgusting. However, their other seafood was pretty good. Their cocktail shrimp were plump and juicy. I also ordered a fish sandwich was also pretty tasty. Their seafood is fresh and there is a good selection.
If you want the biggest, most fresh Oysters on the half shell, then Mama's is your pearl. This is a great crazy bar too, so after hours its filled with lively people and drinks galore. You must try the Blue on Blue...a freshly shucked oyster with spicy cocktail sauce and PBR beer..soo good. They also have oyster shooters too which is a combination of a freshly shucked oyster with cocktail sauce and vodka. My favorite is the Blue on Blue, but they are all soo good. They have the best fried calamari and other great appetizers, entrees and of course the drinks.
My favorite is the Mojito..a classic but for all those who love Orange Crush drinks then they make a mean drink of that too. This restaurant is in the heart of Canton, so you can make your rounds if you like or just hang out and relax at Mama's.
There are 2 floors- downstairs has tables and is packed with people around the
bar-
Upstairs is an eclectic collection of local memorabilia keeps this very
Victorian room--
decorated with fringed velvet, dark wood and tasseled chandeliers--from being
stuffy.
Flanking the fireplace, tables with built-in window seats offer a bird's eye
view of
O'Donnell Square.
The staff was super friendly and fun! Then menu has a nice variety of seafood
and other.
They also have a daily special menu.
We went there for my birthday dinner with some friends. Only one of our party
had been
there since she lives in that neighborhood. It was the 1st for the rest of us.
Yes parking
was a bitch (I recommend either do the vallet parking or park somewhere else and
take a
taxi). We had to drive up and down the streets to find parking and found one in
a nice
alley just up the way. But the parking was worth it!
I started off with the
Fried Calamari
Seasoned flour served w/ sweet & sour tomato sauce. $6.95
Yummy- it was one of the best I have had in Baltimore- nd it was a HUGE plate of
it!
Then for dinner I had the
Scallops
Half Dozen; pan seared scallops w/ Mama's homemade tarter sauce and chipotle
lime
cocktail sauce. $14.95
YUMMY!!!- Also the best scallops I have found in Baltimore. The texture was
perfect!!
They werent chewy at all.
The Hubby and friend had
Fish & Chips
Fresh cod in a PBR beer batter fried w/ Mama's homemade tarter sauce and
chipotle lime
cocktail sauce. $10.95
HUGE- the plate was filled from every angle. The homemade chips were perfect!
Our friend who had been there before recommend the fries which were great. She
had
Half Pound Burger
Fresh ground chuck, Kaiser roll. $6.95
Look so good- She added chesse. It dodnt look greasey or anything. Looked
like one
right off our own grill.
The then hubby added onto his dinner some Mama's Mac & Cheese $2.50- This was
the
bomb! So perfect!!!!
They have homemade Dessert- We got the Strawberry Shortcake- HUGE Between the
4 of
us we didint finish it!
We got this drink- i think it was called- Orange Crush! So yummy! They
squeeze a fresh
orange intot he cup of ice and add vodka and triple sec (mostly soda water too).
Watch
out however because they are so good and great you will suck them down and not
relaize
how many you have had!!!
Overall with all the food, 4 drinks, and 1 dessert the bill came to like $86
which wasnt
bad. About $20 a person. We left with huge doggie bags!!!
5 stars now, simply bc they have the BEST bloody mary that ive had in the Maryland... and I'm a sucker for good bloodies.
everything on the menu is great, definitely my favorite place in Canton

You want oysters? This is the place to get them. (I've heard good things about Ryleigh's in Federal Hill, but I can only write 'em as I know 'em.)
Great oyster selection. Salty, sweet, big, small, Mama's has them all, just waiting to be shucked for your slurping pleasure. I'm told their Maryland crab and cream of crab soups are excellent, and the oyster stew as well, but baby, I'm in it for those slimy little mollusks! Why buy soup when I can bivalve?
Pretty much everything there is good! I usually order the Fried Shrimp Platter and have Mac n' Cheese as a side, which is really good. I also love the Crab Dip.
I like Mama's for happy hour and Sunday brunch. The raw bar and steamed shrimp are reasonably priced and the beer specials aren't half bad either. I'm not a huge fan of the dinner menu, mostly because I think its primarily overpriced bar food. That being said, the two standouts for me are the oyster po-boy and the grilled salmon sandwich. Both are excellent.
I actually really liked this place despite it being crowded and pricey (I guess because it's in Canton). My husband had a bacon cheeseburger (he can't eat shellfish) and it was really good... better than burgers we've had a other taverns/bars. I was shocked because seafood restaurants typically have pretty so-so burgers and such (from our experience). I had a crabcake platter with zucchini and mac-n-cheese. OMG the mac-n-cheese you HAVE to try it... the best I've had in a long long time. It was served in a little ramekin all baked with breadcrumbs on the top. It was obviously homemade and really rich and yummy. The crabcake was good but not the best ever - some lumps but definitely mostly backfun - still it tasted good enough. Can't speak of the desserts or brunch but we will be going back!
Ok I am writing this review as a person who doesn't care for seafood. Bear that in mind. :)
I took my family from out of town here and I must say that overall, the experience was great. We did have some problems and some good things so here are both.
Bad:
long wait- put your name in and then entertain yourself elsewhere. It is always packed and you may not get a seat at the bar to wait.
fried food- the fryer was broken which we were not told about until much later (whole other story!). All of the fried food that came out was not good at all.
Good:
Great service- even though the fryer was broken and our food took forever to come out, our waitress was excellent. Not her fault. Plus she comped a bunch of stuff because we hated it.
Food- all the things we got that weren't fried were excellent. I had a ruben that had chicken instead of beef (a rachel maybe?) so good. My brother-in-law and dad loved the fresh seafood platter and the oyster shooters.
I would definately reccommend going here! Remember to plan ahead because it is really popular and you won't get a seat for an hour at least...
For what the title implies it's as good as it gets! 3 Varieties of oysters, shucked in front of you, cold beer in proper glasses, and nice guys to explain the n00bs which oyster is which and the differences.
Good MD Seafood. Oysters are awesome but of the other dishes are lack luster. Always crowded Thursday - Sunday so maybe try going on a week night. Decent selection of beer on tap as well.
I like the food at Mama's and the setting and ambience, especially upstairs, is very nice. (Be prepared for a crowded and noisy dining room- part of it's charm.) However, the service has been spotty on a couple visits, including lunch yesterday: it took a long time to get our drinks and then one of the orders was wrong. Our server said there was a new bartender.....seemed a little odd, since we'd ordered named cocktails from their drink menu. In any case, the drink was promptly replaced with the correct order and our food order came up quickly. As much as I like their food (baby back ribs with fries are a winner; sandwiches are terrific) and the portions appear generous, the steamer combo plate offered tiny oysters, mussels and clams.....a bit thin for the price. Also, the choices from the raw bar are somewhat limited....they emphasize the steamed options much more than raw. The house salad was overloaded with cubes of salty ham and didn't have enough greens in it (though, as usual, the portion size was large- a good amount for two). I recommend Mama's, but be prepared for crowds on weekend nights and, if you are looking for value, the sandwiches offer better bang for the buck than the entrees do.
I would argue that it's one of the best seafood places in all Baltimore! Great atmosphere, food and drink! This place is still red hot, so expect long waits during core dinner/brunch hours. Make sure you have your whole party with you or you will not be seated! (only 5 of 6 here...sorry, keep waiting). No Reservations, but if you can grab a seat at the bar, you won't mind the wait! Definitely worth going to!
I've only been there for brunch, so I will just speak to that. It's possibly one of my favorite brunch places in Baltimore to date. The prices are enh, but I think just a bit above average for O'donnell Square. But the real gem here is the french toast. It is graham cracker crusted grand marnier french toast and every time I've had it, it's been cooked to perfection. It's mouthwateringly good. The service has been very average, however. I find that the waitresses I've had haven't been very pleasant, but food always came relatively quick. My husband raves about the bloody mary's, and he's a hard man to please in that department.
