This is my favourite fresh seafood restaurant!  The property is beautiful in every way (the sunset landscape, the plants, the building, the tables, the lights).  I love how the menu mentions who caught each of the fish.  Yes, ok it was the biggest splurge on our trip but well worth it.

We shared the Lobster Guacamole with Baked Breadfruit and Yam chips.  It was a generous portion of lobster on top of the guacamole and oh so good.

I had a whole fried fish stir fry (forgetting the fancy name) which I've never ordered in a fancy restaurant but oh it was worth every bite.  The sauce.  The boy had macadamian crusted mahi mahi with lobster and crab which was also delicious.

What else can I say - the staff was so friendly, the drinks were also tasty!

If you're in Maui and can budget for a delicious meal which will cost the same as any excursion you do, come here!  It was well worth the memorable experience.

Mama don't let your keiki grow up to be paniolo (esp if they can run a restaurant like this).

I have friends who come out to Maui about once/year.  I've joined them twice now, and both times we've gone to what I believe is their favorite restaurant on the island.  I know it's mine, and for good reason.

A fish, a fish, a fishy OOOOH!
Oh, fishy, fishy, fishy fish!
That went wherever I... did go!

With all due respect to Monty Python, I've never had fishy-fish here, just ultra fresh, perfectly prepared, flavorful and well presented fish.  I wish, I wish, I wishy... oh never mind, but I do wish that we had something close to this place here on Oahu.  The restaurant is on it's own quiet little palm tree-lined beach and has big open windows with screens allowing a light Hawaiian sea breeze to caress you while you dine. (I've not been there when the wind was strong, but I assume they can close the windows or otherwise block the stronger winds.  Either that, or they keep in close contact with Lono, the Hawaiian god of, among other things, wind and rain).

It's been about a year since I was last there.  I have had the seared ahi sashimi which was some of the best I've ever had.  I've had the ahi and the mahi mahi as well.  How fresh is the fish?  They print up new menus every day, and on the menu, they tell you the name of the boat which caught the fish you're thinking of ordering (do it).
I have recommended this place to many people and I've yet to hear from anyone who didn't like it.

I have not had any of their non-fish entrees, but they look and smell wonderful.
Believe everyone who tells you to make a reservation.  If you don't, I hope you enjoy standing and watching other people pass you by, as you grow hungrier and hungrier...

Yes it's expensive.  It probably isn't going to be a place you're going to go to every day or even once/month, but more for those special occasions like when you visit from out of town, or have those out of town visitors.

I had my last meal in Maui here and it was amazing! Everything from the service, the atmosphere, the food, drinks----all extremely wonderful.
Definitely try the chocolate pie!
Words just cannot describe how this place perfectly ended our stay on Maui.

This is the 283 review of Mama's.  I'm pretty sure that number exceeds the population of Paia, so you can assume that this is a restaurant frequented by people who are visiting.  I couldn't bring myself to say "tourists" because it's not one of those places.  Ok, it's definitely one of those places, but the food is really good.

The best Ono I've ever had anywhere.  If my Mama cooked like this I'd visit her more often. Or if she lived on Maui.  Or if she could make a great Mai Tai.  Or if I could just drink a lot of Mai Tais while I'm there.

One of the stars I gave to The Road to Hana was for driving us by Mama's.  Mama's is also on the list of places that everyone will tell you you must go to, but it's their way of making up for The Road to Hana.

This is a one of those places you have to go to when you're visiting Maui. I would say come here once if you can but go at lunch time as the prices are much more reasonable. I came here for a sun set dinner with my wife and we enjoyed the ambiance and the picture perfect location. Mama's fish house offers free valet parking and a very picturesque local. The decor inside is very tropical and almost reminds me of a set from a Disney movie.

Service was on par for a high end restaurant and the food was good. I actually don't really care for fish and thought it was a little expensive for fish. I had the wok fried Moi ($52 dish) and it was good but it wasn't 52 dollar good. I told my wife that for 52 dollars I would much rather have nice piece of steak. Anywhoo...my wife's dish was REALLY REALLY good. She had the macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi. I had one bite and was ready to throw my dish away and have her. It was super flavorful and had a good combination of fish and nuts...and lots of butter. We had their most popular dessert which was the banana macadamia crisp served with vanilla bean ice cream was also extremely good. Over all great experience but don't think i would go again because of the price.

Of all the restaurants we tried during our Maui vacation, Mama's was by far the best. It is totally over the top Hawaiian, and I loved it. There is no mistaking where you are, unlike some of the other restaurants which, while undoubtedly beautiful, could be almost any tropical spot overlooking a beach. Let yourself get wrapped up in the kitschiness at Mama's: take pictures outside before dinner, look at all the decor on the walls as you walk in, pick up some glass goblets on your way out to remember your experience (they'll throw in some colorful little umbrellas for you!), and, by all means, follow these ordering rules:

Drink: Mai Tai (This is unlike any other mai tai you'll have on the island. It isn't too sweet and you won't feel like you're drinking pure syrup--there's actually a bit of a citrus flavor to it.)

Meal: Macadamia-crusted, crab and lobster-stuffed mahi mahi (Heaven on a plate. If you only have one macadamia-crusted meal during your time on the island, have this one.)

Dessert: Banana crumb crisp (Think the best hot apple crisp you ever had but with bananas instead--so good we actually ordered another one before we even finished the first.)

Everything you hear about this place is true. Mama's does not disappoint.

Simply Awesome!!!!

Twice last week my wife and I enjoyed our favorite Maui restaurant.  Mama's always provides a great meal with the best prepared seafood dishes anywhere!  If you are coming to Maui, this is a must stop!  Great apps, great fish dishes, good waiting bar in a fantastic location.

The food is great  and the location is perfectly dreamy, but the price!!  We started off with lobster guac- YUM!  We also had the tuna sashima combo-  the fish was top notch.

For dinner, I had the Upcountry style Ono- wow, wow, wow.  My husband enjoyed the fried fish, but he did not offer up the wows like I did.

I am glad we went, but I it was hard getting over the sticker shock (our fish dinners were $46 each).  Again, the vibe and location were great!

I've been to the Big Island once and twice in Maui. Out of all the restaurants I've been to in Hawaii, this is the BEST seafood place ever!  Everything is fresh! Fish just melts in your mouth, it's amazing! It's PERFECT! I love that they change their menu daily. It's whatever the catch of the day is. They also have their regular everyday menu.

You need to make reservations. And when you do, make sure to ask to be seated by the window. Mama's Fish House is located right by the water and the view is just absolutely gorgeous!

I ordered the Mahi-mahi stuffed with lobster, crab, Maui onion and baked in a macadamia nut crust. And my boyfriend ordered the Ahi, Ono and Mahi-mahi sautéed in Panang Curry and coconut milk with Mama's mango chutney, heart of palm, macadamia nuts and jasmine rice. It was superb!

Having been there twice before (8yrs ago & last year), the food and service never failed me. I highly recommend it!

I think this place is an overall great spot scenic wise and the food you get with it!  This was my first time in Maui, so this was a perfect spot to visit and say you've seen the beauty & tasted the wonderfulness.  When you first walk to the restaurant, your view is already overlooking the cliff into the gorgeous ocean.  I really like the decor of the place, as it felt very tropical and resort-ish.  I sat outside and was lucky that it was a perfect warm afternoon :)  Stop by during lunch, as I imagine it's cheaper and don't forget your cameras!

Now the food.  There is a lot of yummy things on the menu, so it's hard to choose what to order.  We had a lovely waitress who explained everything wonderfully and made everything sound so good! I guess you can't go wrong with the fish? We started with cocktails. The Ho'okipa Sunset was perfect!  And it looked so pretty in the cup! LOL! Everyone at my table ordered something different, so we got to try more.  The stuffed mahi? with the lobster was good.  The kahlua pork fried rice side dish is yum! The steak on the menu was surprisingly juicy and just looking at it made my mouth water (ok, I was really hungry).  Oh, and the french onion soup looked delish.  They gave everyone a complimentary soup taster that was kind of cute.

Now save room for dessert guys! I recommend the Black Pearl and the Kuau Pie. I'd go there just for dessert. The end :)

What a disaster.  This place has become a serious tourist trap since I last dined there 9 years ago (I enjoyed it back then before all the hype and remodeling destroyed it).  Inflated prices, bland/average taste, dismal service.  Avoid it!
Go to lahina grill for example for a special meal.

This place was recommended to us and was our first stop here in maui on our honeymoon.

High points:
- Amazing atmosphere ( right on the water ,clean, lush and tropical, tiki torches to light walkways and thatched roofs, this all made me feel like i was in hawaii)

- Great service ( everyone greated us with a smile and did everything they could to take care of us.  When served shrimp with it's head and everything on, we asked to get that taken off and it was gladly done and with a smile)

- Food (well prepared, and delicious, i had a traditional leaf wrapped pork and fish dish, and my wife had a little bit of seared pork)

- Drinks (were unique and potent and delicious)

Low points:
-Price (for two we looked and spending over a hundred for a modest meal)

This is a great place, and i wouldn't have passed it up even if it was expensive.  My only qualm is that for the price i wish that i would have loved this place more.  I probably wont go back now just because i have tasted their atmosphere and i can move on.

Good...but very, very overpriced and very, very overrun with tourists - especially the loud, obnoxious ones.

Glad we came here, we can say that we've been here and we never have to go back.

The only plus to this resto is that it's on a beach and that's about it.

So I never yelped about Mama's on my first visit in 2008, just went back again last week and it was like a whole different place.

in 2008: Loved it, romantic, food was excellent- flavorful, had a good balance between Asian and French tastes on the dish I had gotten,  desserts blew me away, service over the top. About 30 a person for dinner and dessert without drinks.  Cocktails were close to $10 but not NYC prices. Would have given it 4 stars in 2008

in 2009: A-OK, service was slower, food seemed blander than what I had remembered- lost the Asian flare I admired.  Prices had gone up across the board, so without drinks you spending about $40 a person, and cocktails were now $15! And the food and drink was definitely not better than before.  I have to admit the desserts still rocked we had this cake with macadamia ice cream! When I got up to leave, I was thinking ok I will give this place 3 stars that was until...

...we got our rental car there were at least 40 white cockroaches all over the car and the valet had hit the bumper against another car.  No apology for the bugs or damage to the car was given.  Even called the restaurant manager as suggested by the hostess and still have not heard back.  We had to wack away all the roaches ourselves and kept finding them until a couple days later.

Thank goodness we got loss damage waiver on our rental!  We will never go back even if we were paid to go.

Hell yeah Mama! I'll come and eat in your kitchen ANYTIME. In fact, I loved your food so much, I'm going to dream about it when I leave this beautiful island. Sure, you make me fork over a day's pay, but it's worth it. The beach in front of the restaurant is beautiful, the tables are comfortable, and the food feels like it's coming from a home cooked kitchen. Simple and fresh, soft flavors. The lobster guac is to die for. Not to mention the Kahlua pork fried rice is something I will crave forever.

Gotta love Mama's.

It took our server awhile to take our orders after we were seated; but I didn't mind it, we were enjoying our drinks and watching the sunset.  We had the macademia encrusted mahi mahi and an amazing bouillabaisse.  We also ordered the lobster guacomole, which was also very good.  For dessert, like everyone else, we ordered the black pearl, it was delicious.

I agree with other reviewers that this restaurant is a little pricey, but what isn't on this little island paradise?

Wow, surprised at the number of reviews for this place..

Completely and utterly overrated.

Tourist trap/hawaii trap, 50 dollar entrees for the most part, unsatisying portions, subpar service and just not tasty food sum up this place.

It's Beachside!

Whoop-di-do...  EVERY restaurant in Maui is beachside.

16 dollar cocktails.. ouch..  You're not getting drunk here

This review is based on all the people dining with me.  No one was happy with their dish.  The flavors were not very complex.  The fish/seafood portions are quite small. The only thing we agreed was that the amuse bouche which was a spicy chowder was very good.   We've had a lot of the nicer seafood we can get in the Chicago area, so maybe our expectations were a little high.

I think the service should have been much better since they were marketing themselves as an upscale restaurant, there were frequently    unused plates overflowing the table

Left here very hungry and mildy bitter, but hey, its beautiful MAUI! ::grumble, grumble::

As everybody else noted, you definitely pay for it, but the service, food, ambiance and view are exceptional!  I was a little worried that my expectations were set too high due to all the favorable reviews on Yelp, but the great rating was spot on, and our party of 7 was pleased with the whole experience.

I had the macadamia crusted mahi mahi stuffed with lobster and crab which was so, so succulent.  Hubby had the ono and he kept raving about the "melt-in-your-mouth" fish.  Somehow, it seems that the delicious food, coupled with the view, just made the ambiance cooler, the night more enchanting and the conversation wittier.

I highly recommend this place, but if you do go, definitely make a reservation.  Aloha!

Overpriced fish, overpriced pupus & overpriced cocktails and wine.  Did I mention OVERPRICED. Fish is prepared mo betta at Lahaina Grill at a better price. LG is my splurge restaurant on island. Sorry to talk stink about a mecca that many seek......I just don't think this is the nirvana. I noticed the comments about the gorgeous sunset.........problem is the sun sets on the west side of da island.....not the east. Maybe mo betta sunrise.

I came here last night with my wife and kids.  When we arrived, the place was packed.  I asked for a table with a view of the ocean.  I was told that there were several couples waiting as well and the wait could be an extra 30+ minutes.

During our wait, we took incredible pics of the sunset and the ocean.
Maui sunsets by the ocean are just fucking romantic!

10 minutes later, we got our table......it was a pvt table at the front of the restaurant with a great view of the ocean and skyline.........I did not know that I was carrying my VIP card that day!!!!!

For starters, we ordered the guacamole with lobster, frec onion soup and fish soup.  The guacamole/lobster was served with chips (think fried won ton chips).    OMG, it was sooooo good.   The soups were tasty..........the fish soup had a ginger flavor...yum.

For entrees,we ordered the ahi, kaluha pork with mahi mahi and fried bananas and their special deep fried mahi mahi filled with lobster and crab.

All three entrees were simply excellent.  Each dish involved unique distinct, island flavors.  The juicy pork and mahi mahi had a special coconut sauce and hot sauce on the side.  The deep fried mahi mahi with lobster and crab was of course delightfully fattening (think fried fish with lobster/crab with cream sauce).  The ahi was so fresh and cooked perfect....slightly seared with soy sauce.

For desert, we tried the banana macadamia nut crisp (think struedel with vanilla ice cream) and maui pie (think chocolate mousse with caramel and chocolate crust).

One meal, soooo many types of flavors to eat!

The service was OUTFUCKINGSTANDING!!  Again, did I wear my VIP card on my chest????

I think we had three servers that were assigned to us.........exclusively.

Memorable sunset view...........food and service.

It was like Disneyland.........all the folks there including us were all happy with smiles!

This place totally lived up to its reputation.  The fish was incredible and so was the service.  We went for lunch to avoid the crowd and it worked out really well.  We didn't have a reservation and were seated right away.  Plus, we didn't want to be driving back to Kaanapali at night after a huge meal.  Yes, Mamas is a bit pricey (Lunch for 2 was around $140) but it really was worth it.  The fish was so fresh and full of flavor, it seriously blew my mind.  We had their signature Black Pearl chocolate mousse dessert which is gorgeous.  We had a great view of the ocean from our table which I love.  I would highly recommend Mamas for a special treat.

I reserve my 5 star restaurants for the best of the best that deliver in all categories and Mama's does! I went to some of the best restaurants in Maui and Kauai over my 2 weeks there and this was my favorite. Hopefully this info helps fellow NYers who have unreasonably high standards for our food!

We booked a reservation (you must) for just after sunset and go there before --- this is strongly recommended! The view is absolutely gorgeous! Although we had a reservation, we still had to wait a short while (20 minutes) and I get the impression this is normal. We sat at a bar that is apparently there for people waiting for tables (they have 2 bars). The drinks are quite expensive (average $15) but they were definitely tasty. I think the Mai Tai was the most bang for your buck --- although the wine choices were great as well (my margerita was really skimpy ---- only complaint about the place!).

We got a table right by the window and there was a nice breeze. I kept telling my wife that I couldn't believe how the setting of the restaurant is so casual, yet it is so elegant at the very same time. Our waiter was fantastic, sorry I can't remember his name.  He gave great descriptions of everything and made solid recs. We had the lobster guacamole and oysters to start which were delicious. I had ahi and my wife had opah and both were fantastic! The presentation was great. We also had a soup that was amuse-bouche which was superb (tomato soupish). I can't wait to visit again! Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert but got a local pot of coffee from their nice selections and were very happy!

Not many times would I say it, but this was expensive and worth it!

We went here for lunch twice while staying in Maui, it was that good.
I had the sashimi and pork tenderloin, both were incredible. The next visit I had the lobster guacamole and mahi mahi, again, amazing.
The mahi mahi was extremely rich and even though it was already a small portion, I wasn't able to finish it.

The beach views are beautiful and the restaurant is very relaxed with friendly service.
I will definitely go here again and again next time I'm in Maui.

Beautiful ocean view..
Child friendly. Good food.

My favorite part of dinner was the black pearl desert and the dolphin cookie on the vanilla bean icecream for the kids! The aka fish I ordered was not amazing melt in your mouth like promised. The guacomole lobster and chips was good but they charged $2 if you request more chips.

I didn't think it is worth the $150 bill for two kids under 6 and two adults. We didn't even order drinks! I love sensei or roy's more...but the view & service is worth it!

We had a fantastic dinner her during our stay in Maui. I mean the view itself is worth it, but I'm from landlocked Austin so others may not agree.

Our food was excellent! The lobster stuffed mahi mahi was amazing and so was the ono I ordered. We also had a salad with hearts of palm for an appetizer which was also impressive. The service here was very good and the meal was pricey but it was worth it. We had 4 drinks, two entrees and appetizer and dessert for around $150 before tip. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Maui!

Any place with this kind of hype and the aura of a tourist trap makes me a little skeptical, but mama's lived up to its billing for the most part.

The ambiance is great, nice authentic Polynesian decor. Dark beautiful wood everywhere adorned with beautiful flower arrangements throughout the restaurant. Throw in a nice ocean view and you have the makings of great setting to dine in.

Our service was great. The server was very friendly and helpful. Any questions about the drinks and the food were handled with confidence and ease.

We started off with a round of drinks. Yes, they are expensive. But damn are they good. My girlfriend's mom was especially impressed with a coconut milk with apple mint concoction she ordered. You can really tell a lot of care/experience goes into the drinks, very well made.  We got the crab cakes for an appetizer. It was good but not anywhere near the best Ive ever had. Entrees: I got the crusted Ahi with kalua pork rice. Good but not spectacular.  My girl ordered the panang curry that had ono, ahi, and mahi mahi in it. It was very very good, I sampled it quite a few times.

Most of the entrees are in the $30-$50 range so be prepared for a healthy bill. All things considered, the price isn't that bad though. This is what fine dining generally costs. Would the same thing be cheaper if it wasn't on Maui in this beautiful setting? Probably, but then you wouldn't be on Maui in a beautiful setting...

The food is a bit pricey, but it was excellent.

We shared a crab cake appetizer. The cake was meaty - very good. Lightly breaded. It came with a fresh mango salsa which worked very well with the crab. I usually come away from crab cakes with a heavy feeling, but Mama's light crab cake will leave you feeling ready for more - which is perfect for an appetizer.

I got a seafood medley soup - the name escapes me at the moment. It was basically a light tomato and basil soup filled with whole shrimp, mussels, and pieces of octopus. Very good. Reminded me of the Chinese-Korean dish "jjambong" in terms of overall look - though instead of a spicy red broth, you get a very mild, smooth red broth. I was happy with it.

Drinks were expensive but tasty. About $10+ for a cocktail.

Service was great.

The view is spectacular. There are wide open windows pointed towards the ocean. I mean it looks like the rest of the island which is to say it looks awesome. Nothing like eating an expertly prepared dish overlooking blue waters, clear skies, and white sandy beaches.

It seems opinions vary widely on Mama's Fishhouse. Luckily I had a great experience here.

For my 400th Review I decided to review one of my favorite restaurants ever. Mama's Fish House.

If you have not had the pleasure of dining at Mama's Fish House you are in for a treat. Mama's is located just off the beach in Paia. The views are TDF and so is the food.

We ate here on Father's Day (Daddy's choice for his special day). The decor is undoubtedly Polynesian complete with tikis and tropical artwork. I loved all of the fresh tropical flowers. So pretty! I was so happy that we had our lunch on the outdoor terrace. Beautiful views of the ocean and beach added to the ambiance. There is something about dining al fresco that makes food taste even better!

Service was impeccable. Our waitress knew the menu inside and out and provided excellent recommendations. We all loved our entrees. I ordered the u'ku with haiku tomatoes, capers and curry rice. OMG! The fish was so mild and flaky. It practically melted in my mouth. The tomatoes and capers and curry rice provided the perfect flavor accompaniment to the fish. Not only was it delicious but it was healthy too. A must when everyday is bikini day! ;)

After our yummy meal we took some time to enjoy a walk around the grounds. Tikis and torches abound. My little nephew loved the big canoe outside. He made sure he got the chance to climb in there and pretend he was a pirate. We even saw a kite surfer surfing the waves! So cool!

Mama's is definitely one of the best restaurants I have ever dined at. If you have the opportunity to visit, I would highly recommend it. Bon Appetito! ;)

This is our second visit in 6 months. We stayed North of Lahaina but it's worth the drive. The mac nut encrusted fish stuffed with crab is amazing!  You have to go there just for that!

The staff is friendly and when the food comes out, everyone is served at the same time and presentation is definitely worth the price you pay. As with everyone else, greeted by the owner is a plus and the free valet parking is a great nice-to-have.

Expensive, yes.  Overpriced, nahhhh.  Everyone on the island of Maui recommended this restaurant as if it was the one place on the island you HAVE to try.  Well...it really is.  The atmosphere is amazing...we went on a rainy night and it was still a perfect evening.  Every bit of the food was incredible from the sashimi and ceviche appetizers to the entrees and even dessert.  So yeah...it's expensive, but you're already in Maui, and if you're gonna spend that kind of money on dinner, this is the place to do it.

This restaurant is a must visit if you're staying on Maui! If you get there a little early for your reservation the beach outside is great for watching the sunset or observing the windsurfers.  A nice place to take photos!

The restaurant has a relaxing, hawaiian like, ambiance.  Dress formally or casually with flip flops and shorts; either is welcomed here.  I always get the macadamia nut mahi mahi stuffed with crab. So flavorful and well presented! I also tried the cold mango soup which was perfect and satisfying after a hot day. The only negative I have for this restaurant is the steep price. The prices have definitely risen over the past few years and will now cost you around $50 an entree.  Although the food is great, I think it may be a little overpriced now. Nonetheless, aside from the price everything about this restaurant is perfect.

A MUST STOP ON THE WAY TO THE HANA HIGHWAY!

A coworker recommended this place so we trusted her and went. What a wise decision! This place has a great view and the food is very good. We went in 2006 and I had the macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi. I don't remember if it was stuffed but i remember the buttery fish and the delicious sauce - to me it was a plate licker!

I regret not trying a dessert because it is famous for it's desserts!

Here's my experience at mama's.  I was on an island wide crusade for the best Mai Tai on maui. I pulled in to Mama's, ordered a Mai Tai and steak pupu.

I had to laugh at the 54 dollar mahi mahi caught by "Ron", what a joke. My Mai Tai arrived and they didn't let the sanitizer settle and it tasted like saccarine sweet windex.

I took a sip and pushed it back across the bar. My steak pupu showed up and I started to eat it until a cockroach clambered out from under the lettuce and took wing. I waved as it left as it seemed the freindly thing to do since we just shared a meal.

When the bartender asked what I was waving at he literally cringed when I said " my cockroach freind". I paid the tab $54 dollars for a Mai Tai $16 and staek pupu $19 with tax and tip. Good bye mama's fish house. I will never be back.

A Maui friend recently said Mama's has lost its advantage.  I don't agree.  It's still fabulous.

The views and service and fresh fish I've commented on before.  Again, it was all there for us on this latest visit.  And the food continues to be outstanding:  We started with an amuse of ginger and Kula vegetables that was delicious and brought out the ginger flavor.  We shared their shrimp won tons with macadamia nut dipping  sauce - also delicious.  For main courses we had Moi and Mahi Mahi.  The Moi is a seasonal ocean white fish, very tender, served whole like a trout.  It was wok fried with stir fried prawns, Kula vegetables, mangos, lychee, and a black bean sauce.  The preparation added another flavor to the tender white meat fish.  Very Hawaiian, very enjoyable.  The Mahi Mahi was stuffed with lobster, crab, and Maui sweet onions, then baked in a thin macadamia nut crust.  It's a dish we seldom pass up, and have never been disappointed.  It always makes you pause, close your eyes, and just enjoy the flavors.

I still recommend Mama's as the one must-go-to restaurant on Maui.  The oceanside setting cannot be matched.  The service is always good.  And the menu choices are always remarkable.  Go to Lahaina Grill for the best foodie experience on Maui and Hali'imaile General Store for unique fresh ingredient preparations.  Go to Mama's for the best Hawaiian food and the setting.

The food here just wasn't that great, especially for the price.

We were told that this was the go to restaurant in Maui so we decided to save it for last. The restaurant is massive and must have over 200 tables. The location isn't tough to find but isn't really near any resorts. The walls are lined with all the celebrities that have dined there.

The service was okay but not nearly as good as what we recieved in Weilea. We didn't get drinks because we had a long flight but we did order the lobster guacamole and French onion soup. The guac was on point but I would avoid the soup, it wasn't close to being worth the 14 bucks.

My entree was incredibly disappointing. Our server recommended the Mahi Mahi with crab meat, lobster, and a macadamia nut crust. While the lobster it was topped with was good I thought the fish itself was utterly atrocious. It had pieces of macadamia nut inside the stuffing which gave it a texture I absolutely hated.

My wife got the Panang fish. This was really really good. It had three different types of fish, the panang sauce, and then rice in the middle. I was going to get this but we didn't want to order the same thing... Oh hindsight.

If I could do it all over again I would skip this place and go to Nick's in Weilea. But, I guess this is Maui's staple.

Oh, i do recommend the Pride wine from Napa. Apparently the guy's cousin at the winery is an owner.

The food here is great. You are paying for the view, service and of course the food.  With all that taken into account, it is worth it. I had the macadamia crusted mahi mahi stuffed with lobster and crab - so damn good.  My wife had a fish special with a sweet sauce, also very good.

We also saw Carlos Santana here, added to the coolness of this place. If you are in Maui, try this place.
