Mama Pita Mediterranean Grill

We came back after a long absence but with a Groupon coupon. Always enjoy the platter with choice of chicken, kafta, steak or veggie. Served fast if you know what you want to eat. Come hungry or be thinking of leftovers. If no parking out front there is plenty of free parking in the garage to the rear (south) of restaurant. UPDATE May 2016. Still a great place to get a quick fix of Greek food. They have continued to provide excellent service and food even without a coupon. Added another star to rating.
I was treated unbelievably by this establishment today. Let me preface by the fact that I WAS a regular at Mama Pita. I would go once every other week, sometimes every week. I'd recently been diagnosed insulin resistant and put on a low carb diet. So, the last time I went to Mama Pita, they let me sub all the carb sides (potatoes, falafel, beans or rice, as well as no pita or tortilla) for some baba ganoush in order to get more protein and have a full meal without spiking my insulin.
Today, I went in and asked for this substitution, they said it would be extra. I explained that they've done it before and about my dietary restriction, and she grabbed her manager. He said they could substitute more salad (I already had 2 servings on my plate). I explained my dietary restriction and that baba ganoush has more protein and less carbs than more salad. He said there was "nothing he could do" and that it would be $2 extra for a freaking small saucer-cup sized serving of baba ganoush. What the hell?! This is despite the fact that I was already being charged full price for my meal despite not getting a third side and not being able to have the pita included.
I know for a fact there was "something they could do" given that a) they've done it TWICE before and b) this isn't a chain establishment.
I told him fine, and it sounds like I won't be coming in anymore since they're unwilling to help a regular customer out. His response? "Sorry" and walked away back to the kitchen. Alright man, be "sorry" all you want without putting the customer first.
"Sorry" that I'll be taking my business to Zoe's across the street from now on, where they put my dietary health restrictions first without bogus up-charges and lackluster attitudes. It would be one thing if they had never done this, but they let me substitute TWICE before no problem! And $2 for a saucer cup of baba ganoush?! Unreal.
You just lost a regular that used to rave about your place. Oh, and the salad lettuce was brown today (see pic).
Worst Mediterranean food I've ever had. I could not believe when I was tasting each side dish.. I was stunned that every side dish tasted horrible. The falafel and potatoes had a bad aftertaste. Like soap. I'm wondering if they ever change out the frying oil? The tomato and cucumber salad tasted days old, and the hummus tasted like they puréed chick peas and green peppers together. So odd. They also shorted us an order of falafel. The ingredients and combination of spices was all just so strange. I have never tasted one bad thing after the next... Even the pita was like a flat tortilla with spices in it. Mediterranean food is some of my favorite, so I've tasted a lot of different places. But I will not be returning here again. I cannot understand all these good reviews. My husband and I are completely PUZZLED.
Mama Pita. Garlic for days. Falafel YUM.
The girlfriend and I drove by Mama Pita on our way home from church. We checked on Yelp and quickly turned around to go try it out. We walked up to the counter and told the guy it was our first time. He was really nice and explained what everything was and what went well together. I ordered the plate, where you can choose two hummus/dips (I got garlic hummus and eggplant), two side items (I got greek salad and orzo), then a protein with a base (I got falafel with beans).
The garlic hummus was more like eating a bucket of puréed garlic - so much so that six hours later the girlfriend required I brush my teeth before giving her a smooch. The eggplant was pretty normal, but had good texture and was a nice break from the garlic. The greek salad was well dressed and I could've eaten a whole plate of it. The orzo and beans were a nice base for the other items on the plate. The falafel was BOMB. You'll immediately forget that you are eating green balls of fried chick peas once you taste it. I tasted the chicken (which they grill kebab style) off my girlfriend's plate, and it was really tasty and well seasoned, but I'd get falafel again if I went back.
Also, the "pita" is not the pita you're imagining. It's basically just a mediterranean tortilla. Strange for a place with pita in the name.
garlic bucket hummus = no kissing for the rest of the day
inside smells like rotten egg (why?)
pita is not pita
4/5 would eat green balls again
There falafel is so good. Delicious wraps and they are huge you could totally share! Yummy salads and chicken plate. The fresh brewed tea is also delicious. Outside sitting area is small but the one negative is that it smells like rotten egg inside and is noisy. But if you can get a seat on the small patio or take it to go YUM!

I used the Eat24 app via Yelp to order takeout after a hot run over at the nature preserve down the road. I ordered ahead of time because I wanted to get in and get back to my hotel with making anyone pass out after my sweaty run. When arrived 15 minutes after placing my order the place was nearly empty except one couple eating in the corner. I went up to get my order and the employee was perplexed. He then grabbed my order off the printer and started preparing it. I only had to wait 5 minutes and it was probably more hot and fresh but I was still annoyed they forgot to make my order. The food itself though was effing delicious. I got the chicken platter and a side of falafel. It came with one kabob with chicken and grilled veggies, salad, pita, and your choice of two sauces. I got the beetroot hummus which will change your life and the baba ganoush. All of that food and I only paid $10.72!! Very impressed with the quality of the food.

Simply put, delicious and healthy Mediterranean food at a decent price. It's Chiptole style in the sense that you get to choose your "type" of entree and then pick ingredients as you choose as you move down the counter. The decor is nice and service is friendly and fast.

Solid 4 stars. I work in the Shops at Legacy and eat here often-- at least once a week. Always enjoy my meal and if I order a platter, it is more food than I can even finish. I usually bring the dips and pita home as a snack for later on. Yum! Everything I've had is good, but my favorites are the fattoush (salad), taboulleh, and chicken dipped in their garlic sauce. Tzatziki deserves a mention as well. Healthy, delicious, and a pretty good deal for the amount of food they dish up.
I came here for a quick lunch before I head to a meeting. I ordered the Kafta with carrot tahini, tzatziki over rice. The Kafta is dry but the sides were good. I also ordered salad and tabbouleh which were good. Also in my opinion they should have baked the pita bread little more. Overall I think it is ok, but I think you should get more meat for the price you pay.
Located in the Shops of Legacy, this is one of the area's cheaper food options. I had a chicken plate with salad and rice. Chicken was seasoned well, the rice was okay, but the salad was awesome. As a whole, the food is an Americanized version of what Mediterranean food should be. For the price of this restaurant, I would have expected two skewers of meat, instead of one. I felt slightly robbed. My only other complaint is that the pita bread is not pita bread. It's a tortilla that tastes like grocery store bread I could get at Kroger. I don't know why you would put Pita in the name of the restaurant and not serve pita bread. Overall, I wouldn't come back on my own, but don't mind coming here with someone else if they wanted to come here.
This is my fave go to place for low carb protein filled great flavorful food when I'm not in the mood for chipotle. The kebabs are flavored right (all of them), the taste is consistent and my only gripe is the small portions of certain items. These guys need to go franchise and I would love to grab one as they have the right recipe for success. Parking is the big problem for patrons, even with the few dedicated spots. The price, taste, quality is spot on. consider yourself fairly warned FADI'S!!!!
Super tasty! I came here on a Thursday with some colleagues a short time after noon. Like others have mentioned, it's kind of like Chipotle, but with Mediterranean food.
I chose the wrap. One of my coworkers said the beet hummus was amazing, so I went out on a limb and tried it. SO DELICIOUS!
Service was good, food was delicious, and the price point was also good. I would highly recommend this establishment.

Mama pita is a healthy spot to grab a quick bite. The falafel and hummus are very tasty they are what I normally get.on their plate meals the offer a tortilla like bread which I do not care for. If you dont know if you will like something they will give you a little taste to help those who are afraid to try new things

Mama Pita recreates that experience in Plano that would combine with the same attention to quality and detail, but in the increasingly popular fast-casual setting.
