WARNING! stay away from the bumper boats! nah really, they were fun, but you'll get soaked...
we went last weekend for miz fuzzy navel's birthday bash. it was all good fun till i got trapped by a horde of kids with squirt guns. and guess who was leading the charge? none other than my very own hunny. nothing like getting drenched head to toe with chlorinated water. yum.
but perhaps the soaking was in return for my crazy driving on the grand prix track. go carts are fun! and once i sussed out how hard they were to flip over, i gave miz sy a bit of a bouncy ride...
mini golf was more fun if you use your feet and two clubs, and the arcade was a little overwhelming but mostly cool. miz sy and i used our tickets to get rings made of string to commemorate the august occasion. (our friends were much kinder and gave their tickets away to some rabid children who were eagerly learning about the fun of gambling at an early age.)
the kids working there were surprisingly helpful and nice (it's gotta be kinda a crap job, eh?). not sure i'd go again, but it was a fun way to while away a midlife birthday...

Ohhh, ho, ho...I did not review this place??!
Well, let's make it short. This place sucks on service, sucks on fumes, sucks on course, and damn chirren (without parental supervision) everywhere! :P
It's a waste of money and time. I want my clean lungs back, thanks.

This place just isn't quite as fun as it was when I was a kid. Maybe that is because it hasn't been cleaned or renovated since I was a kid?
The grand prix cars are fun. I give them credit for that. The putt-putt courses are sub par-par. They could use a bit of repair, but are still fun every once in a blue moon. The bumper boats are worth a try if it isn't cold. Don't go if it is cold because there are always kids that want to spray everybody with the provided squirt guns. I have not tried the batting cages.
The indoor arcade, food stand, and overall service is what is really lacking. There are actually two buildings. One that is part of the lobby for the grand prix cars and one that is in the main castle. I waited for 15 minutes one night to get a manager to fix a game for me where I won the prize but couldn't collect it. I finally gave up and left because there was not a person in sight that worked there. We also had a jacket "go missing" while we were playing a game, so be mindful of your stuff. It never turned up in the lost and found. Don't eat the food.

$20 for unlimited driving on Sundays after 5:00! Sounds good! Unfortunately, the start line is slow moving and you have to take a break every 5 laps.

The activites are solid--mini golf, arcardes, and go cart racing.
The staff is helpful, and nice. I especially want to thank Loa who works in the arcade. She is THE nicest employee ever--gotta add a star.
When I went (Friday at noon) the place had the perfect amount of people--empty enough that I didnt have to wait in line for anything, but not eerily so.
Arcades?? Random games that can potentially spew tickets?? Can exchange these tickets for useless crap?? Grand prix cars?? Batting cages?? Golf??
I don't like the:
1. Long lines.
-Not into the crowds, D + B gets people in n' out quicker.
2. Cleanliness.
-The place and the grand prix cars could use a good scrub from
Chlorox wipes.
3. Cost.
-It's a lil' too pricey for me...
Final Call:
Lots of options to play, all sorts of activities. It's expensive though, once in awhile is okay. If you do go, roll with a group or with a fun date...at least make those hard earned dollas count!
I will NEVER come here again. This place is for children ONLY or adults that have children with them. Oh, and of course the high schoolers, who like to practice their driving skills on the go carts.
I came July 3rd and it was effing busy! I had no idea it would be this busy and when I went to get in line for the go carts, they told me I needed a NUMBER. I went back in and the numbers were RESTARTING --meaning I would have to wait an hour and a half! Hell no! I went to the manager to exchange my unlimited go carts for the package without it and he rudely told me, "When you bought this from me, the wait was only 15 minutes". Uhhh.. and how was I spose to know this? He didn't even MENTION this upon sale. AND he didn't give me a damn number like everyone else had. AND I want to do whatever activities I want, as I please, ok!?!?!??!?!?! Anyhow, after some verbal exchanges, the rude manager guy gave me an exchange (not without attitude, of course).
God, never again! Even when I have kids, I don't think I'll come back. Ugh.
Do you believe in magic? I do now... because:
Deal or No Deal - the game. 200 tickets was the max you could win...and I picked it twice. OH the GLORY! Kids swarmed around as the game spewed my seemingly non-stop mound of tickets! I looked so baller.
Batting cage - just press the blue button... the game will keep going... even when your time is up it'll keep shooting balls. Blistered hands and aching ribs, I continued to swing the metal bat ball after ball...and when it looked like it was over... i PUSHED THE BLUE BUTTON and it was back to another full set. Dude...it's magic. Ouch ...
Prizes suck ... ski ball eats tokens ... but the staff is nice and will refund you if it happens. (if it's a reasonable amount) Kinda wish we went on the go-karts...but I was hurting after the non-stop batting cage. Next time!
I had fun... I think it's better than Scandia.
I always have a ball here....
The Go-Karts scare the crap out of me, but they sure are fun!!! The track has nothing but twists and turns, so once I stop being a scaredy-pants, I'm sure I'll like them even more!
They have mini-golf, bumper boats, batting cages, and hecka video games! Hecka video games = tickets, tickets, tickets!!!
The thing that SUCKS about this place, the mini-golf could be more exciting... A lot of the holes are just the same thing repeated.
Also, EXPENSIVE! Maybe I'm used to the Jersey Shore, but it seems a little... inflated.
Anyway, I always have fun... In fact, last time I went, I refused to leave till I won 4,000 tickets and traded them in for Nintendo Monopoly!!! Only took a few hours and $30!! haha...
Brought here by some friends to play mini golf and race cokarts - yes, my adult friends. Cheesy activities like this are often tons of fun, but this place is just so-so. We bought some summer fun pass where you got 4 laps around the track, 20 arcade tokens and a round of golf. The golf course kind of sucks - most of the holes are the same and only like 3 out of 18 had a unique design that made the course a little more interesting -I've seen way better. The gocarts are cool - but pretty overpriced and you have to stop after each lap and give them a new ticket - the one in Burlingame is better. The arcade here SUCKS! It is way overcrowded - the machines are like on top of each other and there aren't too many cool games. They have guitar hero and a handful of cool ones.
Their go karts here are slow and always break down. Their is a long line every time I have been here. I will give them credit because they have a decent mini golf course. Besides the 14 year old wanna be gangstas that get dropped off here by their Mommy's and daddy's, it is a decent place to come with family or friends.

The selection in the is arcade is okay. The mini-golf and go-kart driving is pretty fun but you have to do it in a large group. I am usually here to de-stress in the batting cage. At one time I was able to hit a 80MPH cage = a lot of stress = a lot of time spent here. But now, I am lucky to hit the ball in the 40MPH cage. They have games for kids to win tickets for prizes as well.
This place cater to all ages!
Hubby wanted to go carting so we packed up the family and made a trip. Come to find out my biggy is still to short to cart, we ended up at the miniature golf side of the park.
We felt so damn rushed at the holes! There were too many people there rushing us through the course. Mind you we have two little boys to try to mentor in golf technique. Apparently a bad idea on a Saturday.
There's also an arcade, batting cage and a water bumper cars area. I'm going to be back for the go carting and water bumper cars but no mini golf for us.
We only went for the Grand Prix karts but the experience was well worth it. Right now they have a special; on Tue Wed, Thur, you can do as many laps as you want for $25 (which is the normal price for 10 laps). We went on a weekday around lunch so it wasn't very busy which meant we got to go back to the starting line right away.
The format for the grand prix track is you pull up to a starting line and wait for the light to turn green before you go. You drive around the course (which is about a minute long) and once you pass the finish line, you slow down and either pull into the pit or get in line to go again. This is great for people looking to race against the clock instead of people. The starting line won't start you right after another person so you'll be on your own section of track with no worries of getting passed.
The track has a lot of turns but allows you to get on the throttle a bit. There are no barriers and only a rumble strip and grass to slow you down.
For the helmets, they have head socks of some sort next to the helmet rack but we didn't see them until it was too late. The plastic shield on the face are a bit worn out but provide enough visibility, though mine came a little too close to my face to be useful (rather it gathered delicious moisture from my breathe).
After about 14 laps I was exhausted but for the special you could leave and come back later and blast down the track as much as you want.
My best lap time was 55.062s. I'd only go back if other people went with me and were competitive. We didn't check out anything besides grand prix.

fun to relive your child hood vicariously through a 20 mph go-kart.
batting cages, motor-propelled water tubes, mini-golf and video games. what more could the child in us desire?
excellent monday - friday deals.
food is expensive and of low quality, pack a pb and j.
and yes, they have beer.
Whenever I go to arcades I feel funny like i'm too old to be doing this stuff. Anyway the games are outdated and boring. Golf was so lame I didn't even play. Go carts you cant even race them you can only drive them in laps/circles?
This is speaking purely as an adult reviewer reviewing this as a place other groups of 20 and 30 somethings looking for a fun night of nostalgia, and maybe the whole thing would be much more enchanting with a pack of children, but I like to think my childhood memories aren't quite so deluded as to think it would still hit par for amusement centers even to the child's perspective. I don't know, though, so feel free to take the following with a grain of salt if you are a parent looking to take your children here.
The prices weren't unreasonable. There was enough there to have some kind of fun, but for the most part, it was very underwhelming. The mini-golf course was the same thing again and again, with little inspiration or challenges. On top of that, a lot of the turf was torn up and otherwise in bad repair. The arcade was dominated by ticket-garnering-machines and really only had a handful of games, all of which were old, some very, very old. It was stuck in the middle of an industrial park literally up against the freeway on its west side, so if you weren't staring at cars speeding by, you were peering at grungy chemical towers. In summary, Malibu Grand Prix one of those washed out facets of Americana that are okay to go out and spend an evening with good friends laughing about, but depressing if you stay too long.
The park is divided into two, one side with karts the other with mini golf. This review is dedicated to the first half, Malibu Castle and Games is the title of the other review).
The go karts are pretty decent, not Skip Barber quality racing nor are they like driving at Boomer's. There are two tracks, one for the smaller karts and one for the big karts. Both are windy and loads of fun.
You can take your kids here and let them go on the kiddie karts while you drive the more fast, more intense big karts.
The arcade is right next to the driving tracks and the games are alright. My favorite is the Star Wars game, where you sit in front of a giant tv screen and place your hands on two controls that you use to steer a windboat-type-plane. It's a two player racing game. They also have a multitude of shooting games, which I reluctantly played when I brought my Marine friend here.
If all you want to do is drive really fast on a windy road in a small open car that you know will not tip over, this is your place.

This place is fairly fun. Go place to go for a nice date. They have everything from a small arcade, race track to miniature golf. Just a place to go to when one wants to get out of the city.
The arcade sucks. The games are old and the machines are almost always broken.
There are 2 race tracks. One requires a license because it is a bigger vehicle. You get put into a car and run around the track for lap time. Since you cannot pass the vehicle in front, if there is a slow person, it will affect everyone's time.
The smaller track is actually more fun. Since the cars are smaller and less powerful, one can pass the other vehicles like on the race tracks. Some points there is no choice but to bump into the car next to you. A kindergarten version of GoKart racer.
The miniature golf is broken in many places. Often walking to each whole there is really no clear sign of where the ball should go. The lights are out so at night it makes it difficult. Even trying to see where the ball should go.
Came here right after the dinner @ Liquid's.
DEAL OR NO DEAL!?!!!?? That's the game to play here... besides shooting hoops of course =) EVEN more fun with silly/crazy/partially drunk sorority sisters!!!
Andddd the Batting Cage was fun. I didn't know I'm pretty awesome at "baseball." Too bad the stupid bat had no grip and my right hand ended up swelling up for 4 days. But yeah, never stepping foot inside this place again. I'm too old to be surrounded by 15-18yr olds, playing the same game I am. NO. I refuse.
D&Bs is where I rather be than here. But whatever, all fun and games right?!?!

the go carts, putting course and batting cages haven't been remodeled since they opened (20+) years ago. If you have kids, dont go there at night its not the best atmosphere.
The arcade room is WEAK but the batting cages and grand prix totally make up for it! Love this place!

I did a birthday party for my son and 2 of his friends, three 15-year olds and me, better than a typical Golfland in terms of add'l activities like the batting cage, bumper boats & go-karts,and fine for what it is, impromptu local entertainment for kids, but nothing much more.

4 laps for $15. Service there is bad, the training, getting your helmet, lining up for your car, it was all disorganized and the process inefficient. Somehow the cart was really uncomfortable too maybe my legs were too long not sure, just didn't like the driving experienc; the teenagers liked it though so thats what counts.

Too many things to mention. Just overall not well kept. Mini golf is in bad shape. So are the batting cages. And the go-karts are expensive. Once you get out there and see them..... it's such a joke.

I like this place. Dippin' Dots! Cold Icees. Skeeball. Good memories here. And I got to make some more great memories last week. There are a lot of really friendly people working here...others are just okay, but I've never received bad service here. The go karts are cool...you can blow off steam by driving recklessly without worrying about real life consequences. The wait can be pretty long. Go on a weekday so there will be less people and you can get one of their "summer special" deals. You don't really need unlimited bumper boats or mini golf, but it's still a good deal because the racing is over quickly and costs a lot. And wear closed-toed shoes or they won't let you in the go karts. The mini golf courses are nice and cute. It makes you feel like you're in Mario Bros. Bumper boats are so much fun! Getting soaked and soaking friends and little kids is good stuff. They've got your typical junk food. I had a funnel cake; it was okay, but not that good. Anyway, I've had a ton of fun here. Malibu is a great place for a fun day trip.
Warning: When leaving this place and driving a REAL car, remember you ain't on the kart course anymore and can actually hurt people! It takes a minute to adjust ;].
Ok being the germ freak that I am, the helmets grossed the living hell outta me. Thinking about all the sweat building and heating up in the helmets that have been worn by who knows who, ugh. When the employees explain the instructions, no one listens because they are speaking at 1000 words per second and we're too busy scooping out which kart we want. So that means clueless people driving at fast speeds in dingy karts = all bad. Super windy track, so if your tempted to be fast be careful, you might spin off! Besides that go karting is always a fun experience, but I would suggest a different place.

BOO on Malibu!!
I remember when I was a kid Malibu was like a mini-Great America experience only way closer to home. Well I must of had a really good imagination when I was a child because Malibu is horrible. The place is like a ghost town. We went there Friday the place was empty the games were lame. They need to call in extreme makeover ASAP. We left like 20 minutes later feeling shafted!

Great place to go for a work team event - although I do agree with some of the other reviews, there is a lot of waiting to go around the track.
Other than that - our group had a blast. The staff was patient and friendly and really made our event a fun one.
ACTIVITY:
-Type: go-karting, bumper boat, batting cages, mini-golf (I only did the first two with my friends)
-Price: Overpriced for the activities especially the go-karting
-Overall: Go-karting should be competitive, not just let one person go at a time, that makes it very boring.
FOOD:
-Type: Typical fast food (pizzas, burgers, fries, etc.)
-Variety: standard fast food
-Quality: didn't really eat here so couldn't say
-Quantity: didn't really eat here so couldn't say
-Price: didn't really eat here so couldn't say
SERVICE:
-Employees: kind and friendly
-Timeliness: in time, not too long
ENVIRONMENT:
-Location: clean part of area
-Ambience: comfortable, casual
-Decor: comfortable
-Cleanliness: food area could be cleaner
OVERALL: Driving the cars were boring but the bumper boats were particularly fun.
-Would attend again? not really...unless all the friends desperately wanted to go play bumper boats.

I came to this place expecting a run-down version of Chuck E Cheese. In fact, it was in a lot better condition than I expected, and I ended up having a decent amount of fun.
This place compares favorably to Dave and Buster's in Milpitas, sans sophisticated bar, pool tables and shuffleboard. The games are generally new, and the whole place is pretty clean. For our group, the game that stole the show was "Deal or No Deal", where we picked the 400 ticket correctly a few times.
The main attraction, however, is their race track. It's pretty fun, however, the main drawback is that they don't allow you to race head-to-head against your friends. What they do is they time your laps, which is kind of boring. Most people (myself included) don't appreciate being able to shave 0.25 seconds off a lap by hitting your lines efficiently and entering and exiting the work zone better than your buddies. I mean, frig, I play Gran Turismo with my finger on the accelerator for the entire lap. If you don't appreciate the finer aspects of race car driving, then you'll probably find it boring (like me and most of my friends did).
The best you can expect is running back to your buddies holding a piece of paper, and going through and comparing lap times to see if you were the best. There is nothing better than taking the last lap of the day, and using that to crash into your buddies, knocking them off the track and getting you kicked out of the place, but you not caring since you'll never go there again and you got your money's worth anyway.

It's pricey but loads of fun. Being in a go-kart allows you to drive recklessly without having to worry about lethal consequences. I had my foot on the gas the entire time and never once touched the brake pedal. It's the perfect place to host a kid's birthday party too since they also have miniature golf and arcade games. This place provides enough entertainment for an entire day.
But the batting cages get 4 stars...
Agreed w/ other reviewers, this place needs to be renovated. I'm not one to complain about interior decorating in a public place but the carpet looks old and the gaming area is way too small when compared to a Chuck E Cheese. As a kid, these places used to look HUGE. The pizza is decent and you can't beat a pitcher of beer after a round of miniature golf.
But the batting cages are usually what I come here for. The speed levels go up pretty high, with the fastest being 80-85mph. Most amusement parks top out at around 70-75 so this is good (I played high school ball so I'm used to seeing stuff in the 80s). The bats supplied by the park are decent - big barrels + leather grips - but I usually bring my own. The last time I was here, the 80mph machine was in dire need of an adjustment as everything was chest high. There have been other times where pitches were low and away but no machine is perfect. It helps work on your patience, I guess. But if I'm paying by the pitch, I wanna swing at everything. Though not as glamourous as an indoor facility, this is the closest thing to SF, unfortunately, and it will suffice.
If you want to have all the energy and life sucked out of your body just take the Seaport exit in Redwood City and head towards Malibu with your kids. The castle is louder and grosser than I have ever remembered. You see families hanging out, kids having birthday parties, ghetto ass older kids who look like they are going to, " step to you" if you don't move out of their way and weird random men just sitting alone drinking pitchers of beer in the area they have section off for eating. I admit that even though the castle has taken a turn for the worse I'm a regular due to the mini golf that my son and I like to play. Bu it's just so run down now and everything is usually broken and after my afternoon yesterday I'm officially shopping for another germ infested kid place to hang out with on the weekends.
One star only for having the deal or no deal game which was fun.

My date took me here since we've both haven't been to the Malibu castle and Grand Prix before. We both got the special coupon they offered at Malibu Castle, where you get unlimited minigolf, bumber boats, and go karting after 5 PM for the price of $25.
The Grand Prix charged about the same price for ten laps around the track so I recommend getting the coupon since you'll be able to try other things as well and save money in doing so.
Although you can't really race against one another, there is a scoreboard that keeps track of your time after every lap. If you complete a lap under 60 seconds, you'll get some sort of paper (I got 61.2 seconds :[ ) but I don't know what the paper is actually for.
This is definitely a place to try go karting for the first time or if you're looking for a new track to race around.
The go karts alone are worth the trip. I had a blast, even though our stay didn't last long before closing. I was eyeing their height requirements and knew I was just shy of the 60" mark required to be a driver. Had they noticed, I would've had to get an ADULT to accompany me. I barely reached the pedals, but a padded back booster did the trick.
There are good deals to be had during the week (Mon-Thurs), the best time to go to avoid mass crowding, anyway. As cheesy as Golf N' Stuff from Karate Kid may have looked, these family fun type amusement centers can turn out to be good, leisurely fun for kids and grownups, alike...
Minus two stars for having to deal with tempermental teenage staff, a few inoperable attractions (e.g., batting cages), and awful food. Three stars for them not enforcing their rules.

I think the best time I've ever had was with the Texan. I drove him here on a lovely Sunday afternoon. We got the adult 20.00 special for 10 lips. I had the Texan put on a helmet and I thought I was staring at someone from the highway patrol. And I also asked for him to get the Highway patrol labeled car (HAHA). Just looking at him was turning me on. Think of my six foot tall Texan with massively strong legs, brownish blonde hair, muscularly built like a football player, and with a very distinguished and serious looking face. Oh man. So the rides are awesome and you get timed and will get a print out of your best times. They hold alot of birthday parties, but for Sunday morning, there was no one there, so we got to play airhockey and play basketball and race car video games. It's a pretty fun experience ...even for a couple of hours.
"Always remember to bring a towel!"--Towelie, South Park
I probably need to remember those words every time I take my 10-year-old mentee anywhere that is near water. Two weeks earlier, her guardian had packed her a change of clothes when I said we were going to Ocean Beach to look at sand castles. Good thing, too, since my mentee went running into the waves more or less as soon as we got to the beach.
"Hopefully, we will stay drier this time," I told the guardian today as she handed my mentee another bag full of extra clothes. "We're just going miniature golfing." Fortunately, once again, mom knows best and made us take the change of clothes, just in case.
We made the drive to Redwood City, and my mentee smiled and her whole face lit up. "Bumper boats!" she exclaimed.
So, once again, I was dripping wet, this time from my mentee firing her boat's water gun at me and chasing me under the fountain in the bumper boat pool. We dried off while we ate pizza, while I drove her a lap around the Grand Prix race course, and while we played one round of miniature golf.
There were several birthday parties going on. Of course, it is a great place for kids' birthday parties. Food service seemed a little off, and I know not to expect either great food or great service in amusement parks. However, there were several strange things that occurred. One was that the concession workers were lining people's food up on the pickup counter without calling people's order numbers, and without getting the drinks ordered to accompany the food, so that the food just sat there getting cold. The other was that the person at the churro stand, rather than wearing plastic gloves to hand people their churros wrapped in paper, was just handing everyone their churros wrapped in plastic gloves. Strange as that was, that turned out to be okay as my mentee put on her "churro enjoyment glove" and devoured her churro, mess-free.

I just got back from a day at Malibu. It was so much fun! We got the package deal, 1 round of mini golf, 4 laps around the track, 1 medium drink, 1 tix for the water bumper boat ride, and 20 tokens you can use at the batting cages and/or the arcade all for $28.95. Great deal!!
We didn't want to get wet so we asked what we could trade the water ride tix for and they gave us 20 extra tokens for each person! We started with a round of mini golf, you have 3 courses to choose from. All are fun! Then we took our 4 laps around the track. Afterwords we really wanted to play another round of mini golf so we paid additional for another round and by this time it was dark so the course was all lit up which was cool.
We then took our tokens straight to SkeeBall. Won a bunch of tix and went home with a plastic boomerang and fun dip candy. Can't beat a day at Malibu. It's good fun for all ages!

Fun for the kid in me! The managers were super nice, I called asking about coupons and since they didn't have coupons up on their site, they said if I asked for the manager, they would give me the buy one attraction get one free coupon. Sweet! Ended up, we got there and there was a slight wait in the line for mini golf, and they gave all four of us free golf! That's what I call excellent customer service.
Then, when we returned everything, they gave us 6 free tokens to play. The arcade, also had this awesome game called deal or no deal, just like the TV show. It's addicting and super fun! This place is a big cramped on Saturdays, and you definitely want to wash your hand frequently, but overall, it was a fun place. I think Golfland has better mini golf set ups, but this place was good too.
