6 reviews for Makino Japanese Buffet
I went to Makino with my friend for a lunch after a long drive up from Key West. The sushi was fresh and tasty, Our server was pleasant. The bathrooms were surprisingly clean.
I had a great deal of tastes that I hadn't tried before.
The dessert was fantastic with the chocolate and marshmallows on a stick. :)
"Sushi" and "Buffet" are two words that, when put together, make me nervous. Simply put, Makino rocks. The service is great, the buffet is affordable and the food is fresh and delicious. You have everything from a Hibachi bar to an ample variety of sushi and dessert. You can eat until you explode and you'll want to.
I miss this place! Since moving to Portland, I haven't found a place like it. The price is great, considering all the different varieties available! Service was always great and even on a busy Friday or Saturday night, seating was fast and everything was well maintained! Love it!
Makino's is our favorite sushi place. We eat here often and can say that we easily eaten here 50 times over the years since it has opened. I really have to give this place props because as much as we eat there, always bring friends and family, no one has ever had a bad experience or a bad meal! This is an all you can eat buffet, they have sushi, Chinese food, Hibachi and a BBQ grill. The food is always really good and fresh. The place is always clean. They have a great selection of sushi and rolls, seems like every time I am there, they have some old favorites and a new one or two to try. I love the Hibachi grill and the BBQ grill, they make ribs, squid and beef on it. I think they also grill octopus too, my hubby eats that. On the cold bar, they have salad stuff and peeled shrimp with the best cocktail sauce. They also have crab legs on the weekends. The service here is always extremely friendly; they keep your drinks refilled and always clear your old plates fast. You really can't go wrong, even if you are not a sushi fan, there is plenty for you to eat here.
Not bad.
The selection is somewhat different from some other Japanese/Chinese buffets in the area. You get the usual assortment of sushi plus some Chinese dishes.
They have small selection of Japanese style appetizers and salads, and the sashimi salad is tasty. You can also get lamb chops at the grills, which other buffets do not typically have.
The desserts are run-of-the-mill Asian buffet desserts with nothing of note, and most are not even Asian anyway. Japanese and Chinese cuisines do have fairly varied desserts -- however, they are not offered here. A better place to try desserts is Dragon Gourmet in Plantation.
The food was good, it is a japanese buffet with sushi and all that stuff, but the service is terrible, we've been there a few times and they just dont seem to get it beginning from managers to the bus boys, may be thats how they do it in Japan, but they are so rude and they other day we got yelled at by a waitress because our kid was by the little fish pool that they have set up in the middle of the restaurant.
