Review from Jessica P.
Atlanta, GA
I've had the pleasure of staying at the Maison Dupuy twice and I think it's gonna be my go-to New Orleans hotel. It is located just a few blocks from The French Quarter and the prices are always reasonable, especially when you get a package deal, like we did!
My second stay was MUCH better than the first one. Customer service had improved greatly (even with my comment below about the medicine hassle) and the elevators were working efficiently again.
The courtyard, pool and hot tub areas are beautiful! Nice gym.
The rooms are small, but very nice. The beds are super comfortable.
My only complaint is that, when I got food poisoning and needed some Pepto Bismol and Advil, they refused to bring it up to my room. I expect better service than that at a hotel of this caliber. So I had to drag myself downstairs to buy some and later found out that it was nearly $8 for two little packets of medicine. $8 for 4 pills? Seriously?
The gatorade was only $2, though, so I'm not sure why the medicine price was so inflated.
Also, the hallways are always freezing for some reason.
They DID reheat some leftovers for me, though. Very begrudgingly, though, I might add. :/
The restaurant was nice, too. Live music day and night. But I suppose I will review that separately. -

I stayed for 3 nights. There was nothing terrible about my stay at the Maison Dupoy, but nothing fabulous either. I probably would stay elsewhere next time.
The Good:
- Convenient location in the French Quarter.
- Comfortable beds.
- Most people working at the hotel were very friendly.
- Clean room.
- Mostly quiet rooms although when people we yelling in the hall you could easily hear it.
- You can check your bags for free before or after check in/out.
- Free wi-fi
The Bad:
- They wouldn't check us in to our room until after 4pm even though other guests were being allowed in.
- Towels kept disappearing and were never replaced. I don't understand why we couldn't have another wash cloth. Or why we never received more soap.
- You know how at nice hotels they surround the comforter in white sheets like a duvet cover? At this place, the only surround the bottom of the comforter and that kind of grossed me out because the comforter was all pilled. There also wasn't another top sheet on the bed which would have been nice, because the comforter was pretty warm and heavy.
- Lumpy pillows.
-- Rooms are older and it shows. We had a chair in our room that should be reupholstered it was covered in stains.
- No mini fridge in the room. With all that good food in NOLA it would have been nice to store some leftovers.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 1/30/2012

We came to New Orleans to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary and I'm so glad my friend recommended the Maison Dupuy!
The registration process was easy (I did research online, then called Pat in the reservation department and she was very helpful, answering all my questions and making my reservation).
Check-in was easy and the room was fine. Not huge, not brand new, but totally fine - clean and the temperature control worked. Nice view of the courtyard (though the windows didn't open).
Three things I loved about the hotel:
(1) The beds! We have a Tempurpedic bed at home and my biggest complaint is that I have trouble when we sleep almost anywhere else. (Well, I don't know how much could be chalked up to how much we had to drink every night, but I slept like a log!)
(2) Fahy's across the street - best Irish pub we've encountered since Galway! (Check out the review I posted.)
(3) Le Meritage - we had our anniversary dinner there and it was amazing. Charlotte took great care of us and Diego was charming and generous! It was the best meal we had in New Orleans (and that's really saying something)!
The location is really fabulous. You can really walk pretty much anywhere in the French Quarter. We walked everywhere, from the French Market to the Canal Street ferry to the Garden District. Then, when you get tired, you can always take a streetcar.
The staff at the front desk was always friendly and pleasant, whether it was recommending a restaurant or dispensing band-aids.
Definitely consider the Maison Dupuy if you're going to be in the French Quarter.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 11/28/2011

No heat unless the entire hotel reaches a certain temp. With a few basic changes this could be an excellent place to stay.
Location: 4 stars, excellent location, quiet and just outside the loud zone
Rooms: 1 star - no heat! The staff informed me that the heat only works if the entire hotel reaches a certain temperature. So we are here in January, it is 56 degrees out and our heat blows ice cold air. Called the front desk and they said ' you are advised to just leave the heat off unless it gets colder because the central heat does not turn on and therefore your room heat does no good'
Staff: 2 stars, very nice but not particularly good. When we tried to check in they had lost our reservation. This was rectified in about 20 minutes but just inconvenient. Two nights in a row they took all of our towels, cups and coffee and didn't replace them. We called and got all replaced, but just a basic issue.
Restaurant: 4 stars, excellent food and excellent serviceComment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 1/4/2012

Wonderful place to stay . Clean, friendly people and beautiful . The lobby was decorated for Christmas and felt so warm and homey. I can't wait to go back . Only a 2 block walk to Bourbon street . What a dissapointing hotel. I've never written a Yelp review before, but was compelled to do so after this stay.
I had only one night to stay in New Orleans, and my only requirements were an older hotel and one with a bath so I could relax. After paying a large sum for one night, I arrived to my "room with a view". No view, other than the otherside of a large plant. Old carpeting, and a bed with someone else's hair in it immediatly turned me off.
When I went to turn on the tap in the tub, I found a decent amount of mold in the water that began to fill the tub. Gross. I didn't even get in the water, and was so dissapointed. I took a washcloth and collected some of the larger peices of mold to show to the front desk. Not at all how I planned to spend my vacation.
Brought it down the following morning, the front desk apologized (was very helpful/polite) , took the washcloth, and left my number with the manager. He never called. I waited a few days, and left a message. Still no call. Called again, and finally was called back. He would only refund the $30 I spent on parking, said I would need to contact Expedia for a refund, and was completely unhelpful.
When I called expedia to have them try to get me a refund, he refused the refund to them as well. He said I "didn't bring it to anyone's attention" at the hotel, and said that "no one else had this problem" so that there was nothing he could do. Ridiculous.
In short, it was a dirty room, a dirty tub, and an unhelpful manager. I am so upset I wasted my money.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 1/3/2012

Courtyard is gorgeous. Hotel is convenient to everything French Quarter. The room fixtures show their age - not in an antique sort of way but still a great property.
Their one failing is their staff (other than the room service delivery woman who was wonderful). Train your breakfast staff to say "good morning", train your bellman to open doors and to offer help with bags. I tip ridiculously well but most of the staff in this hotel won't know it because they never tried to offer service or even a smile. Spend some time with your team, show them what to do or hire a trainer to do it for you.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 11/8/2011

My friend had her 30th birthday in New Orleans and wanted to stay in a historic hotel that was near the quarter that also had a pool- that was affordable. I wasn't sure we would be able to find "that" kind of place, but Maison Dupuy was everything we wanted and more. It was in a fantastic location at Tolouse & Burgundy, making it walking distance to everywhere in the quarter. We valet'd our car w/ them for the weekend and didn't need it back until we went home.
The service was excellent here and everyone was really nice. The rooms were not huge but they were plenty big and nicely decorated and the bed was really comfortable.
The pool was beautiful and was a nice little escape for the craziness of the Quarter for the afternoon.
I would absolutely stay here again next time I came to New Orleans.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 9/27/2011

We have stayed at Maison Dupuy on our last 2 trips to NOLA. The staff is friendly. We will be travelling to NOLA once per month for the next year and will probably stay at Maison Dupuy. They have been kind enough to cover our parking cost for us so far and I'll be calling to see if we can get a better rate since we'll be there so often. It is just off N. Rampart, so be careful when walking at night, and don't go any further toward Rampart after dark.

The bed was amazing and extremely comfortable! Loved the location and look....
The one thing that is keeping me from giving this hotel 5 stars is the check in process. I made sure of the check in time because I had somewhere to be at a certain time. I even called back to verify the check in time. I got there 30 minutes early and ended up waiting two and a half hours over my check in time! I had to just wait in the lobby and ended up missing the appt I had with friends.

First of all, the positives. Great location just far enough from Bourbon Street to avoid the noise and the beer stink, but easy walk to all the action. Also, the bed was incredibly comfortable. The housekeeping staff, the valet and bell staff were very friendly and helpful.
Now the reasons why I would not return to Maison Dupuy. The front desk staff was terribly rude and looked like they all lived in a constant state of either constipation or pain. If that is the case, I am truly sorry and they should seek medical attention for that. If not, take a class in smiling and learn to employ some good old fashioned southern hospitality. On the whole, New Orleans is one if the friendliest cities I have ever visited. Unfortunately it doesn't extend to the desk staff. Considering we were in town for the Second Line of one of their employees that just passed away, you would think they would have had a little more courtesy, but it was seriously lacking.
Secondly, the Wifi was down the whole time we were there. We don't stay in places without Wifi due to the nature of my husbands job. The fact that there was no Internet access was a grave inconvenience for us. When questioned repeatedly, the front desk staff stated "it's a courtesy only". We consider it a necessity. If we had wanted just a bed and a shower we would have paid a lot less and stayed elsewhere.
There was an old, non-operational minibar in our room. It was locked and evidently did not work to keep things refrigerated. When I called to inquire for a refrigerator, I was told housekeeping would bring one right up. 36 hours later after numerous phone calls, our fridge arrived, plus a coffee maker at the initiative of housekeeping. Both of these amenities are commonly found in a middle-of- the- road chain hotel.
As nice as this hotel appears, working wifi, a refrigerator/mini bar, and coffee service should really be standard fare, not things you have to ask for, let alone beg, plead and threaten to get.
So if you want a great location, great bed, and don't mind surly service, and a lacking of expected amenities, this might be the place for you. Otherwise, keep looking.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 4/14/2011

Per Janet H.'s review and the owner's response: we did reach out to management. Specifically, I called the front desk about the wireless outage for the second time and, when the answer was, "it's a courtesy sir," I immediately asked to speak to a manager because that is an unsatisfactory response. Unfortunately we were told management would not be available to speak until a certain hour very early on a Sunday morning, something like, "would 7 AM be ok?" We needed internet connection, so I said, "sure! as soon as a manager is available I'd very much like to speak with him or her." I was then told management would call. No one ever did call.
And, frankly, when you're dealing not only with the death of a friend but also helping his family deal with numerous aspects surrounding his death, including finalizing arrangements for the funeral, like making sure the band is paid, you're not exactly keeping "discussions with hotel management" high on your list.
So I do not appreciate at all such a backhanded suggestion by the owner. You not only disrespect my wife with your response and not only your your "valued" late employee but you disrespect everyone who ever pays to stay in any hotel anywhere.
This could be a great hotel with a couple of tweaks. The first one would be with hospitality management. That would mean someone running the organization who understands both hospitality and management. You can't even manage to write a hospitable response on Yelp.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 4/27/2011

My friends and I stayed in Maison Dupuy for a girls weekend we had 7/29/11-7/31/11. The hotel is in a "Great Location" an easy 5min walk will have u in the heart of bourbon st. "The staff was very helpful and friendly" our sink was clogged when we got there and they sent someone to come fix it within 30min. Im not a big fan of community pools/jacuzzis but the "Pool area was exceptionally clean and the water was sparkling" so I had to jump in. The "free wifi" had perfect service and was a great amenity
I was not a fan of the "cramped elevators" and our streetside balcony view room was a lot smaller than expected and had a horrible view.
The pros out way the cons and I would more than likely stay again when I come back to New Orleans.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 8/15/2011

We enjoyed the Maison Dupuy for its quiet location, its super-comfy beds, and its nice, warm central heating. As Chicagoans visiting during a New Orleans cold snap (highs in the 30s each day), we were surprised how few of the places we visited were adequately heated. By the end of the day (and sometimes the middle) we needed a place just to thaw out.
Located just a block from Rampart Street, you might want to keep your wits about you when you return home at night, but we were always home by 10:00 so no worries.

Our stay at the Maison Dupuy from August 28 - 31 was relaxing and enjoyable. The hotel has a historic charm and we're glad we made the decision to stay here. Below is a list of our pros and cons from the trip:
Pros:
-Great location in proximity to Bourbon Street, Royal Street and Jackson Square. If you get a taxi to the hotel, you don't have to rent a car and can walk everywhere.
-Amazing comfy beds and the AC works very well (which is super important during August in New Orleans).
-If you arrive before check-in at 4 PM, the valets will hold your bags and the hotel will call you when your room is ready (they called us at 1:00 PM to let us know, which we were very thankful for because it was 97 degrees outside).
-The hotel has a very lovely courtyard with a pretty fountain, a saltwater pool and a jacuzzi. The pool was interesting because you could go swimming without smelling like chlorine afterward.
-Our room was equipped with a Keurig coffee maker, refrigerator and flat screen TV.
-The hotel bar has great happy hour specials from 4-6 PM including $2.25 local Abita beer drafts (which made laying out by the pool even nicer).
Cons:
-After the second night we were there, we threw all of our towels on the floor and changed the sign on the door of our room so that the hotel staff would clean the room. We came back at 6 or 7 PM that night to find the room was never cleaned and the towels were never replaced.
-We were on the 5th floor of the building (top floor) and there was non-stop construction on the roof of the building, which caused a lot of noise in our room starting at 8 AM every day. We didn't mind this too much, but I would recommend requesting a room on a different floor of this would bother you.
-While the location is within walking distance to almost everything, I would have preferred to stay closer to Royal Street or the French Market than as opposed to where the Maison Dupuy hotel is located. Each time we went to a restaurant, museum, etc., we almost always had to go through or past Bourbon Street, which is dirty and smelly and full of strip clubs. Once you get to the French Quarter, you quickly realize what a tourist trip Bourbon Street is and will probably not want to really go there after the first day.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 9/13/2011

Gorgeous patio for a wedding but the breakfast is way too spendy for the quality. The breakfast is one step above a continental. It's a buffet with maybe 6 hot selections. Price: 23 clams. REDONKULOUS!!!!!! Then they charge you an extra 3 bones for coffee. Go almost anywhere else in even just a one block radius for a cheaper better breakfast. I was almost angry when I got the bill for this.
Now the hotel itself is b-e-a-utiful. The rooms are simple yet elegant. beds are comfy. Pool area is nice. Courtyard is gorge! Especially at night. The wedding I was there for was great. The buffet spread was sooooooooo good. If only the breakfast was the same. Other than the breakfast the hotel is fantabulous. The breakfast was just so redonky that the hotel gets a 3 *** rating for allowing the montstrosity to continue.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 12/14/2010

This was my first time staying in a hotel in the quarter, so going in I didn't really have any expectations other than the building is likely to be old and weird. Which was the case with Cupboard style bathroom doors, old water pipes leaving my hair smelling like the pirates of the caribbean and tiny rickety elevators.

Grabbed a pair of nights here for the very nice price of $90. For this price, the hotel is fantastic.
Located two blocks from the middle of Bourbon Street, this hotel is a 4-10 minute walk from the best restaurants and bars that the French Quarter has to offer. Did not drive anywhere after checking in.
The room is nice, the king size bed one of the nicest I have ever slept in. I would recommend getting a room with a balcony on the courtyard side if possible. However, I have no idea as to the price discrepancy.
The lobby and the courtyard are beautiful, a hot tub and heated pool with a splendid fountain in the center. Didn't try either of the lobby restaurants, too much local faire easily available.
Overall, if you can get a decent price, this is an excellent hotel. Nice staff, simple rooms, but great location and courtyard make this a solid choice for any jaunt into the French Quarter of NOLA.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 3/14/2011

I recently stayed at the Maison Dupuy Hotel, and was very pleased with the service and accommodations that were provided for our 4 day/3 night stay. Our early check in was no issue at all, and we were quickly provided a room upon our arrival, which was fantastic after and early morning flight.
The room was clean, very nice and well made, with a limited but nice view of the inner courtyard. While I would I have liked a Balcony or Street side view, I believe those were for single beds and suites, of which I was neither (2 bed room requested). Room service wasn't banging on the door at 8am, which was a nice change from most hotel stays. Typically, as we were leaving to start our day (around 10am) they were in the hall way of our room and would make sure we needed it cleaned as we left.
The complaint I would have, really doesn't overly reflect on the hotel to much, even though it still does (LOL). But it would be (1) The Small Beds. I realized at the time I reserved 2 doubles (only available) which were at a great price. And for 4 of us in a room (2 couples) it was nice to be close to the downtown area without spending a ton per person. However, it does become a little cozy once the drink induced coma begins. (2) The fridge/wet bar, or lack thereof actually. As we flipped through the little welcome book, we noticed a lot of pages referring to an in room bar (wet bar) which mainly caught our attention because we wanted a fridge for all the left over treats from the local restaurants and candy/praline stores. Our investigation led us to a blank spot, with obvious stains from a large object, just under the TV in the cabinet space.
While neither of these were a huge upset, it was something that kinda "plagued" us throughout our stay.
The food served from the Bistreaux, was very good, especially their Apple Pie and Banana Bread Pudding. They also provided room service to the hotel, which was a great bonus!
Like a lot of people have already said, the location is great! You're not so far into the French Quarter that you have a hard time getting to and from the Hotel, or an abundance of noise that keeps you awake at all hour of the night. But even with that, you're still a very quick walk away from the night life on Bourbon, the great many eateries, and shopping locations spread throughout the quarter.
Not to mention, easy access as far as location for driving yourself, or getting to and fro with public transportation.
If you're looking for a very nice stay at a more than reasonable cost, I'd highly recommend this location.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 1/12/2011

Booked for a long weekend with an average rate of $100, GREAT price for location. Our room was facing the street with balcony which was fine, sure if it was busier time of the year would have been too noisy.

New Orleans Birthday Trip = Sleeping in the French Quarter
In all honesty, 3 stars is pretty much accurate for the Maison Dupuy. Good but not great, classy not trashy, and pretty much A-OK.
Venue:
The Dupuy is classic French Quarter, from its archway doors to its second floor balconies it screams traditional. The downside is that also means traditional sized rooms, as in smallish. Granted, I'm not a huge person, I'm actually on the short end, and after living in Manhattan for years, let's face it, most hotels seem huge in comparison to your apartment. But, when you're traveling with a 6'3" giant, cramped spaces get quite annoying. The bathroom was small, as in two people were really one too many, and the bedroom only had narrow pathways around the bed.
We were on an inside balcony with a king bed, so I gave it to them, except for when I found out that the balcony was shared--with children. You may not know me well, but children only like me because they know I hate them. Like your friend who hates dogs but yours loves her, that's me but with kids. These little 4 and 5 year olds weren't a horrible problem, but let's just say we always kept the curtains closed just in case.
The room was simply if not tastefully decorated in golds and greens and whites, and the hotel itself is eye-catching with wood and gold on the inside and its large fountain in the courtyard. It even has a pool and jacuzzi. All the makings of a great hotel, but just lacking in something. Good maid service, maybe, or maybe it was helpful and courteous front desk personnel. The experience wasn't bad, and for as little as your paying a night, you shouldn't expect much more.
This hotel's saving grace it that it's not actually on Bourbon, but still close. After a night of trampsing down around the French Quarter and drinking my brain's weight in liquor, it was nice to not have to travel too far but have some peace and quiet. Optimal location, really, and if you're planning to spend a lot of time downtown and don't need the lavish of the Hotel Montelone, then I recommend it. Just don't expect the optimal high brow experience. Think of it as your city's local Hilton, good but not nearly as spectacular as they used to be.
This Maison is also popular wedding location, both for pre-chapel photography and early morning services. A grand total of 2 full wedding parties were staying there whilst we were, and 4 weddings took place. Beware, bridezillas galore.
Food:
We didn't try and room service, but there are two restaurants in the hotel: the French Quarter Bistro (see my next review) and the Le Meritage. Supposedly, Le Meritage has some great upscale dinning, but that's not what we went to Nawlins for, save for Commander's, so we passed.Listed in: Weekend Getaway: New Orleans

We have some airline mileage stored-up, and we didn't get enough of New Orleans or the Maison Dupuy in March, so were headed back in early May! As always, we're staying at the Maison Dupuy, although we'll be trying a balcony room for the first time. We've always had a room with a courtyard view, and we've always loved those, so a balcony should only make the stay better! Can't wait to go back. Another review, post visit.

For New Oleans, this place is great! A few blocks off of Bourbon Street, you can park your car and walk to most places that you want to visit.
The rooms are clean and adequately sized. There is a pool with afternoon cocktails in the summer. -

A group of friends visited 2011 Mardi Gras this year & about 1/3 of us stayed at this hotel. Quiet, mostly clean, just not so efficient.
We stayed in one of the suites, 1 king bed & parlor room. Windows were about 26 inches wide with no view - nbd, as we mostly were not at the hotel/room.
Asked for a coffee/tea machine [this needs to be requested - even though on their website page it is listed as one of the in-room amenities] - but never arrived, over our 4 night stay, asked several times. Guess they have an anti-in room coffee/tea policy.
The in-drawer mini-safe is a nice discreet feature - lock away your cash & pocket cams, etc. when you are out.
The hotel is a boutique, probably privately owned - and run as such - more like a larger bed & breakfast.
The coolest thing about this boutique hotel is that they have a jacuzzi and a heated pool in the courtyard, open till fairly late, 11 pm. They have a 24 hour exercise room, which is decently equipped and rarely used.
Next time, I will stay at one of the "corporate" hotels along Canal, the River with a view & more efficient, national chain standards & service. The cost was about the same - just book the room in advance - we waited until about 7 days before & paid the procrastinator gets the high priced, low value room.

BISTREAUX - lobby restaurant. 1001 Rue Toulouse, New Orleans Louisiana 70112 [I met Eva Braun here aka. woman serving drinks behind the bar]
Bland, off mark & barely warm food - unexceptional service and
indifferent staff. This place would be bankrupt except for the stranded hotel guests looking to avoid walking around the rain in the French Quarter.
Efficiency & speed - molasses running uphill would be faster. If you
are trying to eat quickly & then get out to explore - you don't want to
be here.
Are you a person of color? Ever been called the n word? A chink? Spic? Kaike? Then you will want to stay away from this place.
Unless of course you support racism, bias, and are a card carrying
member of the uber race.
I was called Charlie by the female bartender & only several hours
later figured out what it meant. It was spoken in a direct, clearly audible, and matter of fact way, which leads me to believe that it is
common place at this establishment. Several "Southern Gentlemen"
were at the bar area that early afternoon, way past hangover period -
they said and did nothing. Did I just stumble upon an impromptu Klan
meeting?
Only afterward, when I learned that there are several large
communities of Vietnamese in the Big Easy - New Orleans did I
put it together. My mind typically does not go down that path because I mostly live and travel to places where this kinda thing does not exist in 2011 - but apparently ignorance & racism are still alive in the Big Easy.
I am sure that 99.99% of the people in new Orleans are decent folk,
god fearing Christians that respect people of any color. Some of the rest are employed here.
In the French quarter you can barely walk 15 yards without passing a
restaurant, so why spend your hard earned money at this place? Unless of course you prefer the company of Eva Braun, et al.
The local Ihop had better tasting food, fast service, and wait staff that were both cheerful & efficient!Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 3/14/2011

Beautiful hotel, and close to Bourbon Street, but awful service!
I came here for a wedding and was helping the bridal party with last-minute details, and had such a difficult time working with the front desk, indoor staff and valet! The valet guys were impatient, rude, and not helpful at all. The front desk and indoor staff were also rude and impatient, and made things so difficult for us. The bridal party was spending a ton of money at this place and the LEAST the staff could have done was smile. They were awful!
A pretty atmosphere is not worth the hassle of staying here. Plus, the restaurant food left much to be desired.
Stay somewhere else!! -

I Know the hotel well. It has everything including charm. You get it all, including quite when you want to sleep. Try to do that on a Bourbon Street hotel. You cannot go wrong. I also stayed there before Karina and although its been brought back it will never be the same as back then

Great location far enough away from Bourbon Street to be quiet but close enough to stumble back to. Easy access to I-10. The room was small and pretty basic. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was not very clean and the shower did not drain well. Once alerted to the shower issue, they did something that made it better but there was still standing water in the shower. There was a mini car in the room but it did not work and was really dirty.
The staff was friendly and efficient. The pool and courtyard looked very inviting. It is expensive to park here (i think it was $35/day), but once in you can come and go as you please. I did not drive the whole time I was there. It was nice to know my car was safe and not being towed or given a ticket.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 10/30/2009

After reading the other reviews I must say that I'm very surprised. I think the location is perfect, close enough to Bourbon but peaceful. We had a room facing the courtyard and not the street.
The staff was courteous and the place was very clean. Our room was cleaned daily.
Concierge was very helpful and recommended good places where the locals go.
I really don't have any complaints. But I also didn't act like I was living there. We just slept, freshened up and ate there a couple of times.
Would stay there again for sure. -

I am currently writing this review from the hotel itself. I am sitting in my room trying not to breathe since it smells like a chain smoker lived here. We checked in on a Thursday evening and our first room was completely trashed. At first I thought they gave us a room already occupied, but it was just never cleaned. The twelve pack of empties beer bottles were a clear sign that housekeeping never did their job. The second room they gave us was cleaner except for the urine in and on the toilet. Our third room is better, but stinks of smoke and has a minor leak in the bathroom.
Our plan was to check out the hotel to see if we wanted to have our wedding here, but it's now completely off the list.
I know the place is old, but there is no excuse for dirty rooms. I would not recommend this place.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 3/14/2011

I'm glad we gave The Maison Dupuy another visit. There have been major strides in the maintenance of the hotel. We had great interactions with everyone on the staff. Erin really made every effort to make our accommodations special not only for us, but our five friends that came with us. I was glad to see that Jesse is still at the Bistreaux in the hotel. He remembered our names, what we were drinking as well as specific conversations we had last year. He is truly an asset to the Maison Dupuy and makes the experience worth the visit. The people in guest relations were very responsive to our requests. The only thing that could still be improved upon is the bathrooms and the cleanliness. I know we were here on a busy weekend and the ladies in housekeeping were friendly and accommodating, but the bathrooms could use a remodel or deep cleaning. The location is great (as mentioned in most of the other reviews) and the people here were friendly, fun and knowledgeable. The beds are comfortable, but I felt very tall, since my feet hung over the edge of the bottom of the bed. When I was checking out, I saw that the rooms were being fully taken apart and thoroughly cleaned. I may not have given this hotel 4 stars normally, but the efforts and improvements they made really impressed me. I will be back.

Overall a very good experience. Room was great although the view consisted of a concrete wall. And you are only a few blocks from Bourbon Street and the rest of the quarter.
So the location is good and the room was spacious enough and clean. The shower even had good pressure (always a plus). And they even have a military rate for the rooms, which made this a very affordable stay.
The downside: Do not do the breakfast buffet downstairs. Total rip off. $16 per person for overcooked bacon and overcooked scrambled eggs. Another hit is the carpet in the hallways on the fourth floor has what can only be described as the occasional vomit stain on it. Too much revelry I guess. A bit of a gross out. -

First, let me start off by saying that the Maison Dupuy *previously* was awesome. I've stayed there for the last 5 years for both Mardi Gras and Halloween.
Most recently, I stayed at the Maison for Halloween in Oct 2010. I made my reservation in February to ensure that I was able to get a courtyard balcony, as my brother and wife were coming with for the first time and I wanted to get a great room.
Upon arrival, I was told that all that was available was a room on the top floor with a "courtyard view", which turned out to be a 1' x 1' window. I was less than pleased. The manager on duty told me "Hon, it is what it is, we've got two weddings booked this weekend so we've had to bump people." No discount on the rate ($239/night), nothing.
Once I got up to the room, it was *horrible*. Knobs were broken off of the cabinets, the mini-bar/fridge was now "decoration" and not usable, and the carpet was disgusting. After two days, we checked out and checked in to another hotel.
If you can, steer clear of the Maison. Expensive for what they're (now) providing.Comment from Christine S. of Maison Dupuy Hotel 11/16/2010
