Mainly Tea is a real treat to find after shopping and walking around Old Wethersfield-I mean, it embodies quaint and all that is just...lovely. We got there during their daily afternoon tea, which runs from 12-3. It's an afternoon tea buffet for $12.95 which features wee tea sandwiches arranged cutely under a glass dome-there were little cucumber sandwiches on white bread, open faced tomato with boursin on french bread, and curried chicken on wheat. The curried chicken on wheat was so delicious and I was so famished that I wanted to toss at least 4 at each visit to the beflowered table. But that's where this differs from your typical all you can eat scenario; there are only a few of each sort of sandwich out on the table at once. So one must practice restraint. Sip your tea. Be ladylike. There were four teas to choose from in heavy gorgeous silver teapots; brandied apple, decaffeinated vanilla almond, a very nice blend and an iced herbal tea. The whole place is so beautiful, with antique store findings displayed here and there, gilded mirrors and flowery wallpaper. I did find that after a few little delicious sandwiches I was in fact sated, but thankfully tasted the scones, small, flaky and light, with cream and lemon curd or raspberry jam.
