Yes, yarn is expensive.  No, let me start over again...good quality yarn is expensive.  However, the ladies over at Main Street Yarn really know their stuff and can help you find the best bang for your buck.

Marie is one of the most patient people I've ever met.  If you're in the middle of a knitting project and either get stuck or make a huge mistake you can't fix, she's calmly examine your work and walk you through what to do next.  She's saved my nerves and my knitting more than once.

I've taken one class here and learned a lot.  Their yarn selection rocks, as do their collection of patterns.  If you want cheaper goods, head to Michaels and get some Lion Brand garbage.  If you want quality goods and the help of calm, supportive, knowledgeable folks, make a visit to Main Street Yarn!

Main Street Yarn is a good place to go if you're looking for wide selection of quality yarn. The store has tons of natural light coming in, which I can imagine would be great if you're sitting around their class table working on a project. Their bookshelf was stocked with a variety of instructional books and they had all the tools you could ever want...
So, why three stars? Well, it didn't feel like the kind of place I could sit down and relax in to make a project. The mood in the room was very, what's the right word, clique-ish and I didn't feel like I belonged. I actually felt like I was intruding. Was it intentional? Probably not, but that's what I got. I looked around at their selection and ended up leaving empty handed because I just wasn't feeling it. So this review is a solid average. There was nothing amazing about it, but nothing screamingly bad either. It's A-OK.

I hear tell that there are new owners who are switching things around, so it may be even better :)

The store is very well organized with a very nice selection of quality yarn.  They really take the time to help me with my projects and the class I took was fantastic and priced right!  I feel comfy sitting down and working on a project in the store.  I really like their good lighting.  I returned some extra yarn and they were so kind about it!

Located in the busy Mill Creek shopping center Main Street Yarns is full of various kinds of yarn, books, and supplies. The people who work there are helpful and patient (I'm a new to knitting/crochetting). They'll look over your pattern list and help find what you need. If there's a line of people waiting to have their yarn rolled there's lots of books to brows through, and patterns! There's binders full! They offer knitting and crochet classes (information available in their newsletter). I've seen people come in and sit down at the tables and do their projects, and when they're stuck, they ask one of the employees! Talk about welcoming!

One downside is the parking. Every time I've been there (weekends mostly) Mill Creek center is bizzay! Finding a spot to park takes some looking.

Oh, as for the yarn, they carry specialty yarn mainly. If you want inexpensive basic yarn you can find it at Michaels or Fred Meyer.

I am currently in their beginning class and I really love it!  I am 40 and I hadn't picked up the sticks since I was about 12.  The first lesson I was reading a pattern, casting on and knitting and purling to my heart's content.  Since I am a newbie I didn't realize what good yarn was until I started my class - you really can tell the difference.  And that's not something they told me, I figured it out really quickly - and you will too if you make the switch.  The yarn may be pricier, but the classes are cheap and worth it!

Ok this is really pretty good yarn store. But I have been there 4 times and only 1  time has someone even greeted me!! They seem like they want to cater their store to old women who have nothing better to do but sit and knit.

On the good side...they have a fantastic selection of yarns and hard to find yarns too. I appreciate that!

This is a great store with a wonderful yarn selection.  There have been several times where I stopped by for a quick purchase and had to wait as the employees converse with "regulars" about various projects... which can be annoying when I just need to make a small/quick purchase.  Not a big enough qualm to stop shopping there, though.

I happen to think Main Street Yarn is GREAT!  A former "blogger" ripped them because they wouldn't take back a wrong-size needle...in addition to the reason that you could buy it/knit something and then return the needle....I think it is against health department rules...some people actually put their needles in their mouths!  I for one like to know that hasn't happened to my needles...besides, you can never have too many  needles.
