Not the greatest in the world, but old habits die hard. You really can't beat the personal pizza meal. They raised the prices a little, but it's still a great place to get a decent cheap meal and hang out. I went to Trinity and then I worked down the street from Main Street, so I've been going here for 7 years.

I really wanted to like this place since so many of my fellow students love it, but I just didn't care too much for it.  I liked the cozy interior and the free iced tea (always a plus in my book), but the pasta I got was of microwavable meal quality.  Kinda tough, not that hot, and with watery sauce.  The bread was okay, though.

Go here any night when college is in session and this place will be totally packed with Trinity University kids (Trinity is a few blocks away). I discovered this place early on in my Trinity career and probably went there at least every two weeks, sometimes even weekly. The food is not great, but its solid and ridiculously cheap if you get the right stuff. I advise you to stay away from the normal Italian American dishes (spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, etc) and stick to the personal pizza. Not because the other stuff is bad, but because the pizza is so cheap. My standby was a personal pepperoni pizza with sweet tea. It comes out to $3.15.

THREE DOLLARS AND FIFTEEN CENTS FOR DINNER! You just can't beat that. Because its close to campus, so cheap, and so well liked by students its always easy to get a group of people to go here. I mean, its only a few blocks away, you don't have to get dressed up, you can sit outside with your friends (they let you bring your own beer if you want), and its so cheap that you can afford it by lifting up the couch cushions. Who's going to turn you down?

I will close with the sweet tea. Its incredible. Get it, its free, squeeze a lemon into, drink it, and refill. The guy usually behind the counter is really peppy in a borderline creepy kind of way, but whatever. They also  have Al Greens greatest hits in the playlist all the time. How are you going to say no to that?

It feels like a cafeteria for San Antonio College students. Not because the atmosphere is particularly cafeteria-esque, though the amateurish paintings of vegetables on the walls and photos of their dishes arranged far more artfully than they look in person do remind me of my own college cafeteria somewhat. No, the reason this feels like a cafeteria is the quality of the food. Bland Italian, with some good fresh-ish ingredients, but mostly boring.
My salad was the highlight of the meal. The house Italian is really tart dressing. The romaine was good, but the single slices of carrot and green pepper, one half of one ring of a red onion and half-slice of tomato were kind of wimpy. The cheese on top was nice, though. I finished it all and had a sizable pool of dressing in the bowl when done.
The foccacia with my meal was MOLDY. Really. It had green mold that sort of blended in with the oregano or whatever bland dried spice was on the bread. The rest of the nice hunk of bread was pretty tasty, though, if way too chewy.
The entree was spaghetti with marinara, and while the sauce was obviously not straight from a can, it wasn't very interesting. I doused it in chili flakes.
My water (tea and water are free) had a little slick on top of it, either from a little oiliness in the water or from some residue left on the cup. It wasn't bad, though, and I only noticed that when I'd been drinking it a while.
My guy had the spaghetti with half meat sauce and half marinara, which he praised mildly -- he said the combo got the amount of meat he wanted right. But he also dumped on the chili flakes.
Two combos (normally these entrees alone are the same price as the specials) were $5.99 apiece plus tax. So not outrageous, but a little pricey for something comparable to what I'd have gotten in the college cafeteria pizza bar.
Other entrees include basic Italian pasta dishes, calzones and pizza. Pizzas were being eaten all around us, but they looked too bland to want to come back for it.
Patio was shady enough to enjoy, but the view isn't spectacular -- SAC and an elementary school. Crowd is mostly workers and SAC students.
