I had my first professional massage EVER today with Erin &couldn't be happier!! She was amazing-- very professional &knowledgeable, yet down-to-earth. and was really tuned in to the issues I was having, offering me suggestions on what to do to lessen these problems in the future. I must admit I was a little nervous about getting my first massage, but right from the get-go, Erin made me feel comfortable &at home. I left with relatively no pain (a HUGE improvement from what I walked in the door with!) &have been in a great mood the rest of the day. Can't wait to book my next massage with Erin! I recommend her to anyone who would like a relaxing massage or is interested in trying a myofascial release, which is something she specializes in.
I just wanted to note that the online scheduling &the specials that MSM offers make it easy to want to come back! I mean, 75 minutes for only 60 bucks? Um, awesome!! -

I don't have much time to review, but I will say this.. My husband and I were looking forward to a nice massage for our 2nd year wedding anniversary. Out of all the places we could get a couples massage, this happens to be the only one with 2 massage therapists on duty Sundays.
We chose a package to try out 3-4 different massages. It all started out okay, the rooms were a little small, and combersome. like a tiny apartment, but it worked.. The man who had me started a cranial sacral massage. It was awful.. as a new mom, and on my feet all day, and bending my back just to get stuff done around the house, i was expecting a good rub down. about 45 minutes out of our 90 minute or so massage, he barely laid a finger on me. some cranial sacral (massaging you with my mind type of s*it) what was this? I asked him what he was doing.. 'it's cranial sacral" he continued pressing one finger on my forhead and humming... I think it was totally telepathic... Not really what I was paying for. but i was in my undies, I would feel too embarrased to argue with they guy, so i just let him do his thing. what do i know about massage anyway. my husband had no problem. he had a decent massage.
Overall, we will not be stepping foot in there again. Yeah, this place charges much less than others, (about $100 less) but not worth my $ or my time. I'll pay extra for a good massage... -

I was lured in by their $40 Friday and Sunday special for September. Main Street massage therapy did NOT disappoint!
The massage itself was wonderful, very relaxing and soothing. I love the fact that they do bookings online. That means I can book a massage anytime I want! I booked my first massage at 2am thursday night, and I was at main street massage therapy at 3pm friday. I love the real-time scheduling!
The only complaints I have are:
1. Parking. Its in downtown ann arbor, so you have to pay to park.
2. when i entered the business, no one was there to greet me. I had to read a sign that told me to "sit down" and wait until someone came out to get me. - I wasn't a fan of this. It made me feel like I was interrupting them....and that I should be grateful that they are letting me spend money to be massaged.
But after the massage I could careless. They also gave me a bottle of water :) FYI, they are an appointment ONLY establishment! no walk-ins
Overall, I'd come back here only for the $40 special. The regular price of $65 is a little too steep for me! -

OK, I am going to give away one of my secrets, Geoff at Main Street Massage. Geoff is not just a massage therapist but a true professional that understands physiology of the body; I would better characterize Geoff as a kinesiologist. He is a master at trigger points and knowing how to push a body to stretch without pain. I am not an expert in the body nor muscles and massage but I do know that as someone who travels quite frequently and is plaqued by stiff and sore muscles due to uncomfortable plane seats, hotel beds and pillows, high heels, etc., Geoff is my go-to person to put my body back in pain-free order. You can not go wrong by trying Geoff. I bet he will be your go-to therapist as well. Oh, and an appointment can be made online! What a fabulous convenience!

I'm not a big massage studio bouncer. I tend to find one or two favorites and stick to them. However, my fatal massage flaw is that I tend to ignore pain and restrictions in muscles and range of motion (and yes, I try to stretch to help!) until it gets almost unbearable.
For this reason, I now have about 3-4 regular massage places that I trust and end up rotating between. Though Balance Massage Therapy is currently my economical go-to choice, Main Street has become a more regular place to go to, particularly if I know I'll be needing some muscle-help on a day when I don't have a car (since it's easily in walking or busing distance).
I've had several therapists, and found them very professional and thorough. They're good at tuning in to areas when I know that I tend to carry tension and more long term pain. This doesn't mean they are afraid of those areas, though. I like my massages with pretty firm pressure, and so I appreciate how communicative my therapists here have been in terms of getting the right levels of pressure -- sometimes I'd rather than more intense pressure and be able to just breath through it if that means really getting a knot to release.
I really really love the online scheduling. It may seem like a little thing, but because my schedule get so wacky sometimes, I find myself with only very specific times I could squeeze something in. Being able to look at their openings via their online booking and then compare it to my iCal is really a bonus.
Also, the pricing here is very reasonable, and they occasionally have specials or coupons that you can find in some of the local coupon/saver mailers. -

I love MSM. The facilities are calm, clean and centrally located. I've worked with Josie, who is fantastic, and Cheryl, who has at times made my life a much much better place to live. Cheryl has followed my progress through injury, and always gives me just what I need to move a bit more smoothly and happily through the world. MSM also have regular monthly specials that make taking care of yourself sweetly this way every now and then more treat than mega-splurge. Pleasant, talented and skilled, easy online booking, great people -- 5 stars if ever I gave 'em.

I had my first appointment here last week, and I'd like to consider myself a returning customer already. I usually duck into the Relax Station for a 20- or 30-minute seated massage once in a while, but my lower back got so messed up that I decided to splurge on a 45-minute table massage with Cheryl. I was able to book it online the day before, which was wonderfully easy.
The massage studio is above the Prickly Pear, next to a salon. (Cheryl told me that the same people own all three businesses, which is why they have such a great massage/Prickly Pear package that I am totally going to consider for my anniversary.) To get there, you take the door immediately to the right of the Prickly Pear entrance, go up the stairs, and enter the doorway on the right. The studio is small and cozy.
Cheryl was very sweet and communicative. Not only did she do wonders for my lower back, but she discovered and relieved a lot of tension at the base of my head that she said could be causing my recent headaches--and since then, I haven't had any headaches! Afterward, she gave me a bottled water to go, which was a much nicer option than having to stand around awkwardly and chug water out of a tiny paper cup. -

After doing some extensive searching for a much needed last-minute massage in Ann Arbor, I noticed that Erin had time available next day so I booked an appointment on Main Street Massage Therapy's handy online reservation site. Since it was my first massage I was a little apprehensive - I didn't know the protocol.
Turns out I had nothing to worry about! The whole process couldn't have been simpler or easier, and Erin left me feeling so much more relaxed and ten times taller. Conversation was relaxed, not forced, and I was completely at ease the whole time. I'm a runner and occasionally have my fair share of muscley aches and pains, I will be definitely coming back. -

Because I'm cheap, I don't normally get massages even though I love them. But my back has been giving me some constant pain, so I thought I'd try out Main Street Massage. Their prices are fantastic, $65 for 60 minutes? Sold! It was a great experience. The online booking is fast and simple. Erin did a great job listening to what I wanted to get out of the massage and my massage perferences (harder the better!). She has great rapor - knows when/what to say and when I'm in my relaxation/half asleep moments. My back feels much better and I look forward to going back.

My sister and I were visiting Ann Arbor and wanted a nice relaxing massage to end our trip. I had a facial and massage with Mary. She was fantastic. It was by far the most relaxing facial I've ever had. My skin is still bright and smooth a week after. Mary asked all the right questions so that I could get the most out of my massage. Since I had a deep tissue massage, I was a little sore the day after, but that's how you know you had some good tissue work.
My sister had a massage from Erin. Although I can't comment on it firsthand, my sister did say it was great and that she would definitely go back to Erin again.
The location is right in downtown and the metered parking lot is right across the street. The rooms were not modern as a frou-frou day spa, but still very clean and cozy. Plus, you have your eyes closed most of the time and the serene music makes for a peaceful experience.Listed in: My visit to Ann Arbor, MI

This place was great! I got Erin. When I went in my neck pain was at a level 10 and three days later, my pain is a level 5. Plus Erin is super nice and I'm sure the other two masseuse are great too. Most of all, the prices are very reasonable. Just make sure to book online.
