2 reviews for Main Street Gallery
Hey now, this isn't bad. I tend to get a bad taste in my mouth when I walk into art galleries, but I was very taken by the Main Street Gallery. Not one but two separate employees struck up conversations with me beyond the normal "may I help you" schtick, and it's clear that they believe in their product. And why not? They have a wide variety of stuff, all the way from tiny pottery items to contemporary classic paintings. My favorite was musket made out of what looked like cast iron. Nice.
The space is large and meandering, kind of nice to just get lost in. The pricing, while expensive, is less so than comparable galleries. This place is the first stop for the discerning home-decorator.
One of the newest galleries in the area, opened the second half of 2007. Now they are currently featuring photographs by Jenny Parker, whose work is focused on nature and botanical photographs. The gallery has art studio space available for rent for local artist, carries contemporary art, antique irons, toys & various other pieces. They are a part of the Second (2nd) Friday Art Walk in Chapel Hill-Carrboro, usually offering wine, cheese & fresh fruit. It's a beautifully designed space with art pieces in the upstairs area as well.
