Favorite place to go in college when we had some extra money to spend.  I wasn't a beer drinker back then, but all of my friends who were loved their options.  Now that i actually enjoy beer, I'm dying to go back and try some.

The food is a great semi-upscale option in Willimantic.  I tried a few different things on the menu and always enjoyed them all.  A college favorite was the nachos.

The atmosphere is great as it's located in an old post office.  It's an enjoyable experience all-around.

Ok, first: the beer is a 5 star, the food a 4. If there was a 4/1/2 star option, WIlli Brew would warrant it.

The majority of the food here is unique, interesting, and full of eye popping flavor. The pizza's are all boldly seasoned with interesting food mixes, the build your own burger stop is cooked to perfection and full of about a half pound of deliciousness, and the pasta will not leave you wanting. Probably the best food place in the Willimantic area, with close competition from the wings at Bidwell Tavern in Mansfield.

The beer selection here is EXCELLENT. It will occasionally get snubbed by modern beer snobs due to the spread of the selection; there are plenty of german malty good brews to balance the belgians and specialities. The Certified Gold is a staple here and should be tried. Ensure you try the sampler so you get a wide taste of what Main street offers.

The wait staff is generally good, and is better than expected given the high turnover rate of college kids. The brewmaster (Jake) is friendly and loves to talk brewing shop.

In the summertime the front deck is great (puncuated by ghetto fabulousness) and the inside is a true wonder. (Converted from an old post office, definitely a must see)

Well, I went to Willi Brew since my friends are beer snobs.  I couldn't tell the difference until afterwards.  There is even one type of beer than has a hint of chocolate.  Well, we had lunch and I had a chicken wrap.  There was outside seating and also checked indoors which was converted from the old post office.  You could tell with all the pigeon holes for mail sorting.  Pretty cool and nice atmosphere overall.

The beer is excellent.  There is always something new to try, and the old standbys that make many appearances are well worth keeping on the menu.

The food is okay.  The menu is very clever, having postal codes and names of local towns (since it is a converted post office).  They have excellent veggie options (love the portobello mushroom wrap).  Better than traditional bar food, but overall it's just okay.

This brew pub is really good.  They have an excellent selection of beer.  Their own brews are really good and they carry several other hard to find micro-brews on tap & by the bottle.

The food has been good every time we've gone.  We did have one slight issue this last visit, but it was taken care of easily (all I'm saying is to check your chicken wings to make sure they are cooked thoroughly BEFORE you begin eating them).

I REALLY recommend the veggie burger.  They make it in-house, so it's thick & very filling.  I'm not even a vegetarian & it's what i always order.  The jerk seasoning they use on the chicken wings is divine.  It's spicy & sweet.   The beer butter that comes with the bread is addictive.

The service has always been good.  It takes us about an hour to get there, but it's worth the trip every once in a while.

Had a brown ale.  It was excellent.  Had a BLT.  It was one of the best I've had.  Ambience is unique as it seems split into two separate units, a bar on one side, and a restaurant on the other.  Entrance in the building is slightly weird, with an unmarked door on the restaurant side, and a hike around the building to the bar.  So what, it's worth it.  Go for the beer, and stay for the food.

Excellent place for great local brews and a heaping pile of nachos.  Try the beer sampler or whatever is in season.  It's in the converted Town Hall building and is a great little oasis.

I'm just gonna come right out and say it,Main street Cafe is my favorite place to go in the area... I mean c'mon its just...cool. From the long postal counter being the bar, the super high ceiling granite floors, mural in the main dining area and a  private dining room the place just says "hey Ima classy joint" for beers, a diner date  and being social! The beer selection is so vast. I love to order the beer sampler and just taste em all and record my fav pic., albiet this is quite hard for me, as i am currently residing in Florida. Every single time I come to Ct I always make it a priority to go the the brew pub. My favorite things on the menu, are the crab cakes. the french onion soup, the Colchester Cob salad, the hot wings, ribs, mmmm beer bread and lets not forget those garlic fries. Although everything I have ever had there has been good. Plus the parties and dinners...who knew rural Connecticut was so cool.... I can't wait to go again...I'll see you soon

The Willimantic Brewing Co. has two sides, a pub side, and restaurant side, the Main Street Cafe.  The building used to be a post office, so their menu items are named after CT towns, including zip codes.  They brew their own beer, which if I was a beer fan, perhaps I would appreciate more.  Their menu is standard american fare, sandwiches, wraps and burgers (ranging from $6-8), and various beef, chicken and fish entrees (at about $12-17).  This place is generally packed and their parking lot small, so you might have to hunt down street parking. The best pub in town, no question. Located in the beautifully-renovated post office building with patio seating in the warmer months. Their food is better then average for the area, but the acoustics in the restaurant side are not great. If you go there to eat, sit in the pub. If you go to drink, you're on the right track.

Try the Station A Porter
