I went to high school in Wenatchee. Then, in 2000, I left for Seattle to attend the University of Washington. I've only returned to the Wenatchee area to visit since then, and consider myself a Western Washingtonian.

Having gone to school and lived in Seattle and the Eastside (that's the 405 corridor, not Eastern WA), I've been exposed to a lot of Thai food. Everything from the watered-down stuff at Thai Ginger to the so-so stuff at Thai 65 to the sublimeness of Thaiger Room and Thai Tom's.

Mai Lee Thai deserves 4 stars. Not because it's "4 stars in Wenatchee"; it would still be a 4 star review in my book because the food quality and service measure up to what I'd expect in the Seattle area. Kudos to the owners and staff for delivering quality Thai food in a town that considers Applebee's fine dining. The Phad See Lew noodles (wide rice noodles) were great with chicken, and they didn't hold back on the spice (5 stars is hot!).

Yum yum.

Our party of 3 people had Pineapple Curry, Green Curry and Pad Kie Maoe

All three were different and tasty.  The curry dishes were extremely filling and came with rice. The noodle dish was also large and was not skimpy on ingredients.  It was also nice that each dish came with a large amount of meat (some places go very light on the meat).

We all had varying levels of spice and could definitely taste it.

I will echo the other reviews that say service is not the fastest.  But we never felt ignored and we enjoyed our time.  It is easier to forgive slower service when it is a small place or family run.

Overall I would recommend this to anyone.  It is nice to have some variety in the Wenatchee area.

Just went to Mai Lee Thai tonight since I happened to be in the area and I've been craving good Thai food like crazy.  So, based on the good reviews here my wife and I decided to give this place a shot.

The food was great!  I had Panang curry and it really hit the spot.  The curry tasted great and was very flavorful.  I felt bad that some of the curry sauce was still in the serving bowl...should have used my straw to get the last bits!  We also had Pad Thai which is one of the dishes I use to test out a Thai place.  Some places the sauce is more like ketchup but here it seemed more like the style I like, a darker, more brown than red sauce which is usually the sign of good Pad Thai to me.  The ingredients seemed quite fresh.

I agree that service was a bit slow and kind of spotty but overall the staff was friendly.  Otherwise, I wish that I didn't have to drive an hour to get here!

This place is great.

I had the the satay chicken & the green curry. Both were outstanding. The vegetables in the curry were as fresh as can be. I thought curry could have used more chicken in it. Maybe that's me being greedy. :-) The curry sauce was probably one of the best I have ever had.

I will definitely go back when in Wenatchee.

A Thai restaurant is exactly what this area needed.  This town needs more culture and more ethnic restaurants other than Mexican.

Judging by the full parking lot, our first thought wasn't that this place was good, but that maybe the service was slow.

I never pass up these whole-in-the-wall joints. The restaurant is nicely decorated, but not too busy with clutter. It's probably 1,200 sq ft and you can look right into the kitchen if you stretch your neck.

A family of about 8 run the place, and it looks like the mom is the cook. The service was quick and our food came out about 10 minutes after we ordered!

I ordered the Phad Mee ($8.50) with tofu and 4 stars on the spicy. The portions were just perfect in size. I really expected my dinner to be spiciER. I think they're trying to cater to the general population. Next time I'll let them know I'm not a local.

The coconut juice was really good, and so was the Thai tea, but for a glass packed with ice at $2.50; it was a little pricey.

Overall, we were all satisfied. This place has good food, and a lot of potential. I see them moving to a bigger building in the near future.

Minus one star for not clearing out the plates.

Once again. 4 Stars because, There is very little Asian food in the Central region of Washington. I know of 3 Thai places period in a 125 mile radius, and 2 of them are in the Wenatchee area. I was brave enough from reading reviews that I read off my iPhone on the great Yelp App, and called Mai Lee up to-go, just guessing that they would have typical Thai dishes that I knew by heart. They did, and I ordered to Go. The also have Spring Rolls which once again I was asked if I knew what they where (ie.. not Egg Rolls) which always makes me kinda laugh. If most people knew about Spring Rolls they would be more popular and I would stop being asked. So I go hope and the food was amazing. The portions were very large, enough that I could have shared one dish, but thats no fun. I'm surely going to order again, and my only recommendation would be have a menu available online.

Service is OK, they seem to be always busy, I like.. er, I LOVE THE FOOD!.. portions are great, better than the other Thai Restaurant in town.. The Squid fried rice is yummy! the curries are great! The only thing I would change would possibly be location and a bigger dinning area.. I like privacy when I'm eating.. not staring at my next door dining table family.

for the spicey peanut sauce and the thai noodles. Of course I am not an expert on thai food, but I do like to eat and I know what tastes good.
The crab ragoons were delicious, a light crunchy fried wonton around the filling, dip it in the spicey sweet sauce and it is marvelous. My mouth waters just thinking about this place. We called ahead and got our food to go, took it to the drive in.

I can't make up my mind about this restaurant.  The first time I ate there I really liked it and the next two times it was okay.  I like spicy food so that might be why I have a problem.  The food is good, but I think they may have reduced the spiciness for the locals.
