3 reviews for Magnolia Plantation Golf Club
Magnolia Plantation is a pretty decent golf course and a good test of the game. I dont usually "call out" other reviewers, but the only other review of this course mentions a few things so silly that I can only assume they are new to the game.
This course requires the golfer to think at all times, which I like. There are many shots where you either can lay up or play safe, or try to bomb it over water, and I like risk-reward tracks. I'd say the overall maintenance has slipped for sure since it opened as you often will find crab grass patches in the first cut or second cut of ruff, but that's my only real maintenance complaint. This isnt a place you'd take visitors to impress them, but it's a good place to play regular local rounds as the course is very reasonably priced for the area.
People thought this was:
- Useful (1)
Last time played - 06/08
Pro shop
- very bland (not much in there) and unfriendly, staff really doesnt care
Driving Range/Practice area
- really close to the pro shop and cart path - i felt like when i was taking a swing I was going to hit someone
- very bad drainage, its like hitting out of mud
- the practice sand trap is in a very small area and if you have a bad shot from the sand you can hit someone on the range or walking by
Golf Course
- very bad drainage, course is always muddy - dont wear white shoes
- poor maintenance, weeds in fairway (almost overtake the fairway)
- tee boxes and pin placements are not moved on a daily basis
- par 5s dont have layup opportunities
- some holes have forced layups (if you never played it before you may end up in the water off the tee on a few holes) - no yardage book to explain
- never saw a beverage cart person (not sure if they have one)
I was told the course was sold and it was suppose to get better, but I haven't seen any improvements...I'm still waiting.
I don't think much of this course, it's tight, a lot of the holes are quirky and unfair, it's never in good shape, too wet and sloppy, and with so many great courses in Orlando, I never play here. Here's a few of the better courses in town. http://forelinksters.c...
