Category: Toy Stores [Edit]
Neighborhood: Pioneer SquareI thought this toy store was really cool. Great mix of things for all ages. I liked the basement in the back looking at the chess sets, the toy soldiers, and other games. They had a $14.99 Giant Super ball, PIrate stuff, stuffed animals. All sorts of things for the kid in all of us.

two stories of toys is almost a guaranteed good time, no?
Add the (magic mouse?) balls rolling around the floor of the lower level and a very nice book section and you have a real winner. They also have a very impressive selection of stuffed animals. I was happy to see lots of demo toys out, ready to be played with.
This store is frequent comfort shopping for my husband and me.
Since we have been regular patrons of MMT for about five years now, I will simply regale you with the most recent visit:
Sunday- 17:30: We were down on the waterfront eating some seafood and once we were finished, we wanted to high tail it out of there as folks: it's open season for tourists on the piers! So what better way to kill two hours before what turned out to be the failure that is The Happening?
Magic Mouse Toys!
We raced mini cars and I even got to take two of the $1.49 gems home with me!
We looked at fake vomit and other jokester implements.
I looked up: and saw for the first time that there are stuffed animals on shelves all the way up to the ceiling in the main floor room... it was heaven on earth for me.
Then I proceeded to adopt a giant stuffed pig from Jellycat, my favorite plush toy brand.
We headed downstairs...
Games and books galore... and while I paged through some childhood favorites, my husband read the backs of several board games he has been coveting.
We walked out of there 45 minutes later with the giant pig (the husband knew there was no way we were leaving without it, I gladly handed over the credit card whilst imploring he and the delightfully friendly sales lady not to mention the price out loud to me) and a charming coffee table book called "Dirty Wow Wow" which has reader submitted pictures and essays of beloved if not downright ratty plush toys from their childhoods....
After I pay off the piggy, we'll be back.

This is a wonderful store to just roam around in. Two stories packed to the rafters with toys of every shape, size, age group and price. A great childrens' book department too. Add an ice cream counter and the ten year old I was would never have left. Even if you don't shop for toys I'd recommend stopping by to take it all in at least once.

A two-story pad filled with toys. Stuffed animals, games, educational tools, it's a kid and adults dream!
One of my favorite places in Pioneer Square!

Wow, this place was amazing! I stopped here after a luncheon with a colleague and we decided to take a quick jaunt into MMT's since we at a block away. I had never been, so I was looking forward to it.
I went in hoping to find Coloring Books for my monster, and while I didn't find what I was looking for, I found tons else instead! They have an amazing puzzle collection (the "cave of puzzles" as one employee dubbed it), doll selection, and I was thrilled to see BOOKS in a TOY STORE! Whodathinkit?
I left with less than I wanted, but with a bicycle License Plate with my daughters name on it, as well as a frame for it (Zoe is a hard name to find for some reason!), which made me happy.
I'll be back.....
I used to work for F.A.O. Schwarz a long long time ago in downtown, and we'd recommend people to this place. I also love action figures... Yet still shop here (they don't carry action figures). Why? It's two floors of toys new and classic. We're talking Brio, and Steiff, and Ravensburg toys. There is also a great book section where you can find stuff like Blueberries for Sal, Make Way For Ducklings, Olivia Saves the Circus, Tintin, and Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel. It's Heaven on Earth, I can play there (and spend money there) for hours upon hours. This is what toy stores are all about and should model themselves after (except Toys R Us so that I can get my action figures). Great lay out too, it's not aisles upon aisles... And there are plenty of demo toys too (demo meaning demonstration, not demolition)
If I get married, we're registering at Magic Mouse. Oh yeah and when closed, look in the front door because there is usually some toys with a message that changes nightly.

When I first moved to Seattle I made a beeline for Pioneer Square (cause that's all I knew about Seattle in 1997)... I didn't run into any grunge bands but I did run across this gem of a toy store.
Magic Mouse is so much fun and if you're a fan of games/puzzles you'll find stuff for yourself too! Sometimes I feel a little guilty when I choose myself over that kid whose birthday is coming up, but then I realize...kids need to learn that there are disappointments in life, right?

Great two level toy store, with everything from Archie McPhee stuff to gear for serious model maker or miniature lovers. Some juggling equipment, balls clubs, diablos, and yo-yos as well.
A small book section to look at. All in all its a fun place to meander around.
A+ for an independent toy-store.

i love independant toy stores! This one still has some of the brand name stuff- but there is a lot of love for the quailty european brands as well. I love the clean lines and simple colors of the european baby toys. They have a wide array of things here- baby toys, stuffed animals and dolls upstairs and games, books and learning toys downstairs. My in-laws came for a vist and nearly bought my daughter the whole store! If you are in Portland for a visit, stop at Finnegan's toys downtown- it is a very similar and just as great!

This is such a fun store. I spent about 15 minutes in the board game section of the store before having to run and missed most out on all the other areas. The board game section was great. There were so many games I had never seen before and a lot of them were on display for you to try. I hate buying a game and then hating it once I open it so this is perfect!
This is a great place to burn time while waiting for an underground tour.

We did all our holiday shopping here for my fiance's little sisters and nephew... so much fun! And then, we came back and did some holiday shopping for ourselves and his sister & her husband... also so much fun! :) And now we just come to browse after we visit Elliot Bay and buy our serious books, because it's so much fun. They have such a great variety including some unique toys... just everything you'd want in a non-chain toy store. Have I mentioned how fun it is?

Having visited this store twice I would highly recommend. We spent about 30 mins in this store and I personally wasn't ready to leave. Great little finds. Toys from $1 to WAY up there! Pleasant staff, lots of toys for testing too!
This is most definatly one of my favorite places to buy gifts, it has been for years! I can consistently find something new and original here both for kids and many of the adults on my shopping lists have gotten somre pretty neat stuff from this store as well. Independently owned stores are always the best, and toy stores with some hands on fun are always a plus. When they're put together you get this place- and its great.
Book selection for children is also really cool. Its divided up into sections and floors and I really reccomend taking the time to look at every section. Some of the unusual paper dolls also really crack me up. (Ya know, in case I am on your shopping list...) ;)

Large toy store in Pioneer Square. It's been a downtown fixture for quite a while. They have a great selection of toys that are of higher quality/value then the average chain toy store. Its got two floors and has sort of a cave like feel due to all the different rooms. Staff is hit and miss when it comes to service, but everything else about the store is top notch. Prices are a little higher then the mall, but hey, who the hell wants to shop at the mall???

I do think this is a really cool store. However, I just called looking for a specific game and they didn't have it which isn't the issue. But, the woman, who I am pretty sure was the owner, couldn't recommend a store in Seattle that might have it. Hmmmm... it always gives me really really good warm fuzzies when a store will recommend another place when they can't fulfill my request. It makes me want to frequent their business even more because I appreciate the help. Oh well. It is still a really fun store filled with stuffed animals of all sorts and lots of jigsaw puzzles.

Forget the big giraffe, this place is much more unique and far less run of the mill. Every time I walk in here I get the feeling some small, independent toy maker has stuff in here you won't find many other places. You don't feel bad about touching things either. Nice selection of puzzle games, which we like, and old fashioned wooden toys too. There's really nothing you can't find here, and have a blast doing it.

I was last there when I was Ten but I found my mini personalized name plate in about thirty seconds, so I remember that foundly. Also I remember there being not enough time for me to look over all the toys ont he first floor. It was awesome. Seeing as how this review is about eight years old I'll just continue form a kid's perspective.
It was like being a dream. You know the kind where if you fall down it's onto a pile of downy whatever? It was like that only I'm sure I would have landed in a pile of plushies. The books, the games. If you want to render a kid into a stupor of absolute joy- take him or her there.

Once upon a time, I had two brothers, one sister, one godson, and two nieces to shop for for Christmas. And I had waited until the last damn minute. Magic Mouse truly saved the day. I love to buy "educational" toys for the rugrats instead of just stuffing them full of Barbies and Disney movies, and this store really did the trick. AND, I had a ton of fun shopping here. It's two stories, and they carry pretty much anything - some items that stick out in my mind are a Viking helmet, a kick-ass kite, and snowman poop, in the form of a cute lil' bag of marshmallows.

What a great toy store for kids and adults alike. We went in looking for a kite or something simple and ended up getting tons of cool stuff.
Great selection of unique kits and science toys. Tons of board games like macala boards, go boards, chess and othello. Lots of rockets and balls and figurines. I got my first gyroscope! Way too much fun.
Only bad thing was that I bought a foam dart gun that ended up not working. Hoping to bring it back for an exchange. But other than that this place is great.
Dude, I thought this was a sex shop? Man, was I confused when I saw all those "dildos" made of wood!
Never mind the kids! This is a fantastic place for anyone who loves fun! Creative minds wander in and get all sorts of ideas for themselves, and play with weird, unusual, non-brand type toys of all kinds. Modern versions of classic toys, and some things that are just entertaining. If you've ever thought "I need something cute and clever to put on top of my monitor at work to break up the tedium" then you need to come here.
Magic Mouse Toys is really one of a kind type of store down in Pioneer square. The store has almost every kind of toy imaginable and some pretty unique toys to boot. Anytime we are down in Pioneer Square we are sure to stop in the Magic Mouse to see what is fun to play with. Check it out with the kids, they'll have a favorite!
Located on 1st Avenue in the heart of Pioneer Square, this is a must stop before you board (or after) the Waterfront Streetcar. The kids will be in heaven with two levels of toys for every possible age group. Lots of hands on toys available. The staff is pleasant but might get annoyed if you've overstayed your welcome with no intent to purchase. A bargain corner down in the basement with some decent discounts on items.
