Maggie's a great place to grab dinner, drinks, or lunch.  I have never had a bad meal there, and it's always a popular go-to spot.  Has a casual/fun atmosphere.

On my way back to NH, I stopped for a dinner break at Maggie McFly's in Middlebury, just off I-84 Exit 17. The parking lot looked full, but once inside it seemed fairly quiet here.

I was seated immediately in the upstairs dining area which surrounds and overlooks the bar area below in the center of the restaurant. I literally had to climb into my wooden booth seat. The decor here is pretty interesting including a big model plane hanging from the ceiling. I was able to catch part of the game on the big screen TVs over the bar area, just no sound

The menu here is very extensive and reads like a storybook with plenty of choices to satisfy any taste including sandwiches, burgers, pasta dishes, chicken, seafood, steaks, ribs, pizzas, giant salads, soups, appetizers, and plenty of desserts. Lunch specials are served until 5PM. They also offer a natural and organic menu too! The prices here are moderate, most entrees priced in the $10.99-$18.99 range. The portions here are good sized. There's also a full drink/cocktail menu at each table and free wi-fi is offered.

For dinner, I ordered the Baked Chicken Parmigiano ($14.99), which was a generous portion of al dente linguine, and very large parmesan cheese breaded chicken breast pounded thin, topped with a chunky tomato sauce & melted mozzarella cheese and served with dry soft ciabatta bread. This was a good dish with the pasta cooked the way I liked it and the chicken breast was tender and the breading crispy outside. I did request a to-go box for the leftovers. I passed on the dessert. Also, I ordered a Decaf Coffee ($2.75), which had lots of coffee grounds at the bottom of the glass mug.

Overall, I had a good meal slightly on the pricier side, but the service was on the slower side and the upper dining area did not seem busy. However, I was in no hurry as I was trying to relax after a hectic drive out of NYC.

After being seated. it took almost 10 minutes for a waitress to stop by to take my drink order, a Diet Coke ($2.75) and another 5 minutes to receive my drink, when I placed my dinner order. The food arrived to my table in 25 minutes after ordering. I was offered a complementary refill on the Diet Coke before my food arrived.

I would stop here again for lunch or dinner, but only if I was in no rush.

Terrible restaurant. I ordered butternut squash soup and it was barely palatable. I've had better soups out of a can. I also had fried whole belly clams and these were amongst the worst I've had anywhere. Tasted like they were frozen from a grocery store. I also a sick right now from the dinner I just ate 6.5 hours ago.

I went to Maggie's for lunch.  We started off with chicken wings.  If I am a snob about any kind of food, it's chicken wings.  I have a rating system that very few restaurants can live up to.  While Maggie's definitely isn't home to the best wings around, they certainly weren't the worst.  They were a good size.  Maggies seems to use the run-of-the-mill Franks Red Hot/butter combination.  Call me a cynic, but I was expecting worse from a "chain-type" place.

I had the Chicken Artichoke and Feta Panini.  I usually shy away from panini's because I've had ones where the bread is too thick and crusty and the whole sandwich was inedible.  I was pleasantly surprised by the panini at Maggies.  Nice panini bread!  Also, the combination of chicken, artichoke and feta was quite good.  My husband had a cheeseburger.  He only ate half, so I'm guessing it wasn't the best he's had.  However, he didn't complain.

The service was good.  Nothing really to report in that area.  Oh wait...the silverware was gross!  After unrolling it from the cloth napkin, I pretty much saw an extra free meal sitting on the knife.

We arrived late about 10:00pm and the place was still very busy.  The food was surprising very good based on previous reviews!  We had a burger and ziti and they were cooked perfectly.  The only reason we didn't give 5 stars is that the floors seemed to need to be cleaner...

Maggie`s is a good alternative to eating at Ruby Tuesday`s or other similar national chains.  The menus is big and carries american fare such as burgers, sandwiches, salads, some seafood, etc.  Most of the staff is helpful and attentive.  None of the food was stand-out, but it was satisfying.

I agree with what Marina has to say. This place is chain restaurant food/atmosphere without the massive nationwide expansion.

If you choose to go there, just know that you should probably keep it simple when ordering from the menu, and don't try to get adventurous. In other words, don't order crab cakes and expect quality, because you're going to get frozen crab pucks. But, if you order chicken fingers, you'll be fine.

In reality, it's not a very good restaurant, but the bar is good for watching sports and getting an app or two; and the food could actually be worse, not that that's a ringing endorsement.

I went to dinner there with 2 friends. The restaurant must have been super-short staffed because the manager waited on us when we first sat down.

The menu selection is huge, I ordered the "garbage burger" which has everything on it. My friends mentioned that the fries used to be better/different kind. The keg in the bar was messed up so my friend couldn't get the beer he wanted. Also, no one in the wait-staff had claimed us as their responsibility so we had to flag down people whenever we wanted something.
What I liked best was that we could sit outside and drink/have dinner. I don't think the food is anything special.

I've heard a lot of bad things from friends who have eaten (ie getting sick each time they order salad) but I didn't think it was too bad.

Would go again if the situation called for it.

Menu is huge - which is nice.
Food is ok - but just ok.
    Price is HIGH

The outside patio is a nice idea, except that the trees that are there drop annoying little pods all over your food and in your water - so inside is safer.

The bar is ok - and they have some fun events during the week -
all in all - as long as you go expecting to spend a lot and not get any quality any better than a local chain - then you should be happy.

I have been coming to this restaurant ever since I could remember. I will agree with everyone when they say the menu is huge. It takes awhile for me to figure out what I want because alot of their stuff is good. Stay away from the martini's. As someone mentioned before, they call them "electric" which I at first thought meant they were very light colored, or super good but it in fact had a light up plastic ice cube you could keep. And my martini was $12.50. Wow, I know alcohol is expensive, but it's not worth THAT much.

I absolutely LOVE the crunchy buffalo chicken salad. It is SO big and I can never finish it, even if it's my first meal of the day. I would highly recommend that as an entree. Also, the rueben is very good as well.

The only downside is that this place IS expensive. It's not one of those places you bring $40 for dinner and some drinks, because you'll be paying alot more. Our waiters/waitresses are always very nice so I have no issues with them. Overall, I would recommend this place if you want something a little "classier" with good food, and a nice atmosphere.

So I have a few gripes about this place, yet for some reason, when people say "Let's go to Maggie's" I'm like "sure"  I don't get it.

First, they do have a huge menu.  That does not by any means say anything about the food.  I once ordered chicken marsala and I think I had watered down Franco American gravy over a warmed up chicken cutlet. On another visit I got a Cobb Salad (they're called Giant Salads on the menu) and was amazed at how good it was.  I agree with Jonathan when he states to keep it simple.  If you stick to burgers, sandwiches and salads they seem to make those pretty tasty, but if you stray and try to get adventurous, you are in for an upset.  Save your curiosity for some place else.

Onto a gripe.  They make these Electric Martini's.  I just thought that meant that they were good martini's.  I did not know that they were mediocre $12 martinis with a battery powered light up ice cube that changes colors that you may keep.  That should be stated somewhere on the menu.....or at least be told to you by the waitstaff.  Cheesy!\

The bar can be a decent area to play karaoke if you are into that, apparently alot of people are.  It was packed, and embarrassing for those that did.  It's also a nice spot to watch the game with some apps.

They have a brunch menu that I've never tried.....I don't know if I'd be interested.

Went there on Saturday around 4:00pm and waited over 10 mintues just to be seated (there was nobody in front of us and many seats). When were seated, we were placed next to the kitchen and then sat for nearly 15 mintues without anyone even taking our drink order. We overheard waitstaff talking about other customers and not getting their orders, etc. We left after waiting so long (and had a 2 year old with us). It felt very disorganized and clearly nobody was managing this restaurant at this time. Ironcially, we then drove to the the Maggie Mcfly's in Southbury and had a great meal and great service. We had been there before. Management makes a huge difference! Hopefully the owners will take note.

I think that when you have 125 items on the menu you are probably not going to be able to provide fresh good tasting food in most of the choices. I've had OK food here but nothing memorable. Their prices are a bit high as is their alcohol prices. I does have a nice bar crowd. I do feel exit 17 Maggie's is better than exit 15's.

I've been here a couple times in the past week.  This is my fav Maggie's location b/c of the decorations and the balcony seating which enables you to look down into the bar.  Service was friendly both times, letting our parties take our own sweet times.  The chicken walnut salad was great as was the "skewer" salad with chicken.  The lemon drop martini was also delightful and strong.

My experience there was sometime in 2009 and I wasn't even going to post until I saw a similar post and someone doubting it.

I needed to meet a client somewhere to sign a few papers so we decided on Maggie's.  It 3:30 on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was EMPTY.  We each ordered a coffee and got to business. Shortly after the waitress, with an attitude we couldn't figure a reason for, brought the coffees the manager came over.  He said "you can't do this."  I asked if there was a problem with signing papers there.  He said "no, but you can't just order coffee.  This isn't Starbucks.  You haven to order food or you'll have to leave."  He also said that "it wasn't fair to the waitress since she works on tips and can't make enough from coffee."  Perhaps he was trying to impress her, as she was watching from a distance.

I began to engage the manager the manager to see if he was actually serious.  My client felt uncomfortable and ordered a meal.  With a very high expectation for quality and service (and a little temper too) I am thankful that my client diffused the exchange.

Bottom line was that the manager put me in a very uncomfortable position with my client.  He was as surprised as I was.  I could understand if the place was busy.  It's just dumb business.  For all he knew, My client and I go there with our families and friends on a regular basis.  I don't like to patronize any of their restaurants now.  Not hard to fill the gap, it's just glorified bar food anyway with VERY poor service.  The place is decorated nicely though.

I'm new to the area. I've been trying to find a place, anywhere, with good Mexican food. Somehow Maggie's for Cinco de Mayo has been the best so far. (I don't get it either). But the bartenders have always been friendly to us and beer is always good and sports are always on. Sounds good to me!

I'm giving one star because I don't have the option to give none...

I had been here several times and did like the place, but my last experience was so horrible that not only will I never go back, I tell everyone I know not to go there either.

The lettuce wraps were a favorite of mine and I ordered them nearly every time I went.. This past time was no different, however JUST before taking a bite I noticed little black spots on the lettuce, and yes, they were moving! There were BUGS all on the lettuce. I sent it back and the waitress offered to bring me a new one. The second plate was worse than the first... absolutely covered in bugs. Not just one or two dead ones stuck to the lettuce, but a lot of living, moving, black bugs. How they did not notice this is beyond me... it was disgusting. I told the waitress, she said she would talk to the manager... about 30 minutes later she came back to the table with the check and said they took the lettuce wraps off of the bill. I was not given the menu to choose something else, it was just assumed that we were finished. They did not give us a complementary meal... nothing. I was supposed to be happy that I was not paying for food I couldn't eat because it was covered with bugs? I don't think so...

    In summary:
The food had bugs on it.. gross.
The waitstaff (and the manager) were indifferent, if not rude.

The food, atmosphere, etc. at this place are just not impressive enough to warrant me giving it another shot.

    Check with your wife.
Either she's lying or her boss is lying.

They don't make you order an appetizer at the bar and then charge you a flat rate if you don't and that applies to all 3 of their restaurants.

not sure what else to say about that.  You really should go there first hand and see and dont just go along with what others tell you.

I've been here twice.  The food has been great both times.  They have a fabulous organic page with locally grown grass-fed produce and such.  Myself and my company always love our food.  The portions are large.  Pastas can easily be shared.  The atmosphere is great.   I've sat upstairs once and outside on the patio one time.  Service seems to be iffy.  We had bad service he first time and good service the second time.  I'll definitely go back.

I went here around St. Patrick's Day this year. I heard great reviews about their corned beef and cabbage, so I thought I would give them a try. There was about a fifteen minute wait, even with our reservation. That's expected though, given the holiday. It wasn't very loud at all. My boyfriend and I ate upstairs, which was cool because we could see down below. They played Irish bagpipes, which was awesome too. Other than that, the experience sucked. First, there was no silverware on the table. Then when our food came out, it was cold. The corned beef was very tough and the corn mixture as a  side tasted like it came from a can. The potatoes were the only good thing on the plate, however there were very few halved potatoes. The plates were loaded with corn beef and cabbage. O yea, the cabbage was so hard that we had to use our knives to cut it. My water also had a bug in it. Our waitress was adament about wanting to know what was wrong with our meal and we were given free dessert because of the experience. The waitress was extremely nice.

This is just your average middle America family restaurant. Basically its a TGIFriday's, Applebee's or Chili's without being a nationwide chain. It basically has the same exact menu as all the above at more or less the same prices. Three stars because it was always a welcome escape from the confines of boarding school whenever anyone's parents came to visit.
