maggiano's is a great chain. end of story. you get consistent, delicious, well-priced food no matter which one you visit.
a company i was working for did a big "staff appreciation" dinner here, and it was really well done. the service was excellent, and the family-style meal was great. there was something for everyone and YUM! that SALAD!
i'll go to a maggiano's any day in any city.
kids love this. Consistently good food. We are never disappointed.
I love the mushroom soup when they are serving.
I really didn't want to like this place. I stopped by out of convenience (it was across the street from the hotel I was staying at that week.) But while I may hate to admit it, I really liked this chain Italian place.
I've stopped by a couple of times now. Each time the bartenders have been entertaining and on their game. The food is very good (not great, but very good).
If you're looking for solid if not outstanding Italian food, this is the place.
The Maggiano's in Tampa is good, quite good. The food here satisfies even the biggest food snob. I went for the spinach salad, which had baby spinach, bacon and gorgonzola cheese. Quite tasty, indeed. For you purists, try the Chicken Francese. For cappers, try the Nonna's Poundcake. Gurantee you've never had poundcake like this before, sinfully delicious. Side note, this place lacks cultural diversity in staff and patrons, which is quite surprising for Tampa.
What a place! Coming from NY I have seen grand restaurants, however, this one takes the cake. A wonderful atmosphere and an almost formal setting. When I first walked in I felt under dressed, but realized that so was everyone else. This place gets packed quick, and after having the meal we had, we understood why. The kitchen was very busy and the meals took some time but well worth the wait. The wait staff were very friendly and on their game.
We had the Calamari Fritte and an Artichoke dip that was amazing (if you like Artichoke dip) We ordered 2 salads both were very tasty. The Four Cheese Ravioli and Gnocchi, Tomato Vodka Sauce were some of the best past dishes that I've had (and I married an Italian).
The Main courses were out of this world, the Chicken Saltimbocca and the Veal Parmesan (old faithful).
As for deserts (yes we had desert too) . We had Apple Crostada, Caramel Sauce and Maggiano's Signature Spumoni. I have to say the desert , just like the meal were fantastic. If you enjoy Spumoni, then you are going to love this desert. They actually make it better then any other place I have had it.
But to what really makes Maggiano's one amazing place it there is an "endless supply" of food. Our waitress said "there's plenty more where that came from" and believe me .... there was.
Happy Eating!
Just like the other Maggiano's I have been to, this place was very good, but crowded.
My wife and I showed up during lunch rush on a Saturday, and only had to wait 10 minutes for a table, which I thought was fairly reasonable. There were a few seats available at the bar, but we opted to wait for the dining room.
The staff was friendly, and the kitchen was fairly quick with our meals. We both ended up getting sandwiches which were very good, and the pinot noir I had was decent for a "by-the-glass" wine. I'd recommend the chicken parm sandwich I had which was a little different than the usual in that it had fresh basil and the marinara was served in a little dip dish on the side.
It is pretty funny eating in Tampa though. Like a lot of places I've been to down there, it is filled with three distinct crowds. The grey hairs seem are typically slow and seem to be a pain, both in the parking lots and the restaurant. The young "trying-too-hard" professionals with their ridiculous tans and penchant for wearing sunglasses inside really make me laugh. And then there's the tourists like me making fun of everybody else.
Simply a great place. Is close to the airport which is very convenient if you are catching a flight or waiting to pick someone.
Of course their Italian food is a must have, The house wine is wine-licious and the bartenders although very young are very very friendly.
to pricey for the food the atmosphere is great but for the food go to positanos in pinellas
P.S. i am a new york italian
Portions are huge, and the food was ok. I must not have ordered the right dish because everyone loves that place and I only thought it was ok. Be sure to make reservations if you have a big party cuz that place can fill up fast.
11/27/06. Either I'm getting more picky, or this branch of the chain has gone downhill. A couple of years ago, I was thrilled with the chicken piccata. But a couple of days ago, it was cold and insipid. The previously delicious bread was stale. Olive oil for dipping was hard to come by. The restaurant was half empty at what should have been a busy time. What happened?
A very popular restaurant! The service, the food, the drinks, the atmosphere, everything is nice and smooth. I have recomended this place to all who live in Tampa and me, I make the there with no regrets.
