5 reviews for Mae Phim
Mae Phim is trying very hard and it shows. The price is fair, the portions are generous, the flavor satisfying! Excellent service. Their decor is pleasing and appropriate. I tried their Chef's Special (H.) Pad Thai Woon Sen for $10.95 with prawns and clear noodles. I recommend it highly! Their tofu Pad Thai was also yummy.
Their ~$5 Crab Delights appetizer was nicely plated, creamy on the inside with an attractive fried shell on the outside with sauce to dip them in. I couldn't taste any crab in it (overpowered by the cream cheese) but it was still a delicious dish. I'd take out the crab and advertise it as a dessert, or something that comes complimentary as a smaller portion at the end of every dinner.
Their Rad Na was ok, though I ordered it zero star and it came super bland. The broccolli and mushrooms are very lightly cooked, nearly raw.
*** TIPS: Asked to be seated in their traditional sit-down section on the right side. You don't have to make reservations or pay extra. Order your meal at least one star, otherwise it can be super bland.
I can't even *behave* myself when I'm eating the food at Mae Phim. Have to "mmmm" and "ooooo" through the whole meal, every time. I mean, this is really, really good food... the best Thai food I've ever had to be sure, and in the running for best food, period. What's more, it's stunningly presented, in a way you'd expect from a high-end restaurant. The service is perfect, and the environment intimate, clean and lovely. The prices are outstanding. Go, go, go.
(This review for the Smokey Point location.)
Been here many times since they opened. Only Thai place in the area I will goto. Very clean, very good hosts, and the food is great. Panang curry is the best I've had anywhere. The pad kee mao and the Thai standard, pad thai are great too.
I was afraid to try Thai food and Mae Phim was my first, and second, and third... I have had others, and I keep coming back for the yummy food they make here. I usually order Chicken or Shrimp Pad Thai, always yummy and with great flavor and just the right amount of spiciness. I've also ordered some of their appetizers, but the pad thai is so filling that I've found I'd rather save my appetite for it!
I went here for lunch with a coworker this week and found it to be very yummy. The Thai Iced Coffee was just right. The soup I had was filled with generous chunk of chicken and very tasty. They did not, however ask me how hot I wanted it, which seemed odd to me, as that is pretty standard in Seattle Thai places. They had a nice variety of lunch choices and were pretty quick. The best part was the decor...next time I plan to try the traditional seating, when I'm wearing something suitable for climbing into it ;) I will definitely come back here for lunch again.
