Madras Saturday Market...as a tourist to Madras, it was a fun way to mingle with locals from Madras and the surrounding area.  I am carrying away memories of homemade lemonade, fantastic cinnamon rolls from the Eagle Bakery, goat meat from White Diamond Ranch. Mmmm.... It was a small market but it had music, barbeque, potted plants for sale and gigantic watermelons.  All of this in Sahalee Park with shade from old trees and a playground nearby for children.  The one thing that was absent was the spinning wheel booth where children and adults can try their hand at spinning wool.  (this is my mother-in-law who was giving me the tour of the market so she couldn't be at her booth) If I lived here, I would visit the market every week.

A little small but then again so is Madras.  The best markets for me are ones that have mostly locals artisans/farmers, NOT people selling junk/crap like you find at any Mexican beach.  This market was a little heavy on the crap side but still had several artisans.  Not many farmers selling local food.  Maybe they don't grow a vast array of produce in Madras?  I'm from the valley so I guess I'm spoiled.
The best part was the live music performed by a local family of four.  Very nice!

I love this market, my mother lives in Culver and we love to shop at the market on Saturday's. I loved the baked goods at the eagle bakery (the rolls are my favorite). However my best buy at the market was the super inexpensive candles and lotions at the Common Scents candle booth, how great to have such amazing local made goods, the candles and lotions are my new favorite bath and home products and evan though I dont live near-by I will continue to order with her online:) I also have to mention how beautiful the park is.
