Madison Bowl is for real bowling.  They're not about any of the glitz and glam you see nowadays at so many bowling alleys.  If you're coming here, you're getting down and dirty bowling style.  I actually prefer coming to places like this over the alternatives for many reasons.

First, unless you are coming on a Friday or Saturday night or a league night, you're pretty much guaranteed a lane.  And the cost of bowling is pretty inexpensive, especially during times they run specials of which they have several (your best bet is to call them and ask because I always get confused and I'd hate to post inaccurate information here).  I refuse to go to places like Dave and Busters if I can help it.  I'm sorry fancy booths and bars, big TVs playing crappy music and eclectic lighting are not a healthy trade off for spending $20 an hour bowling.

The place is old and worn and seems dirty at first, but it is just wear and tear and not an inability of the staff to clean.  The monitors are small and old and the place smells like, well a bowling alley should, of wax and old feet and greasy food.  They offer strictly no frills beverages and food items here, Budweiser and onion rings.  But I mean can you really see yourself drinking a martini in ridiculous bowling shoes?  And for that matter why would you want to?  Pitchers of Bud Light are fine by me when I'm bowling and that's probably one of the few instances I can say that.

The parking lot is kind of sketchy but there are always plenty of spots.  The hours are decent and the staff is friendly albeit rough around the edges.  Its location off of Gallatin Road makes it pretty easy to find.

I don't know what this place is like at night, because I've only been during the day, specifically on July 4th. They have a special of 17 cent shoes and 76 cent games to commemorate and we decided to go there after the Hot Chicken Festival to play some bowling, drink some beer and cool our mouths down.

They only have the basics: pitchers of bud and bud light on draft and some fried food, but really, isn't that all you need for bowling, cheap beer, fattening food and goofy shoes?
