The Madeira Branch Library was constructed in 1965 and its architect won an award for its design, which should not come as a surprise to anyone who has been there. The library was remodeled in 1993, then known as the Madeira-Indian Hill-Kenwood Regional branch, but the interior still looks very new when you walk through the sliding glass doors to enter into the library.

The Madeira library is very conveniently set up. When you enter through the sliding doors and pass the restrooms, you are standing right across from the desk. On your left, right, and between you and the desk are shelves of new adult books (not those kind of adult books), a section for holds, and seasonal books. For those who want to stay longer, there is a large kids section on the left wing of the library with tons of books, as well as music and videos, and a story pit (and a few toys). On the right side of the library there is a room filled with DVDs and videos, easy to browse through. There are also some computers, most of which were in use when I was there, a lot more books and some tables and chairs, and a "Teen Scene" section with books for teenagers and a pair of couches on which to read.

I really like the Madeira Library because of its unique exterior, but it's really great and clean and lively on the inside too, making a trip to the branch enjoyable. I walked in just before noon on a Monday and the library was very crowded, showing that I'm not the only one who really likes it. If you're ever in the area or can't the find the book you want at your neighborhood library, I highly suggest driving over to the Madeira Branch Library.

I was killing time before meeting a friend for dinner so I stopped by the library to check out the display and see what this library has (it's what I do as a a librarian). This location is beautiful and spacious! There is plenty of parking, too.

Once inside the library, not just inside the building there is plenty to see. I spent most of my time looking through the new display, which was well stocked and not just with the old stuff that still has new stickers. This was a mix of books and DVDs.

I quickly cruised through the kids area just to see what kind of space it was and it looked like a place any parent and kid would be happy to visit. On the other side of the desk, I was surprised the computer area wasn't too busy. There is a designated teen area and the movies are in their own alcove, making it easy to locate them.

If you're in the area or looking for an item in the catalog and it's here, make the drive over!

I have a lot of time on my hands lately, so if I am looking for something that is not at my normal library, I'll find out where it's located and go get it.  This is the reason I made my way to the Madeira branch of the library.

First off, this place is gorgeous.  It's in the middle of a great small town. And, did I mention the place was fantastic?  They have a great selection. Auto-check out machines so you don't have to wait in line. And, the people that work there are helpful and awesome.

Just be careful when you're walking through the automatic doors...they open slowly and I ran into one of them the first time I tried to leave the place...it's a trap! Be careful!
