I picked up a large box of mixed mochi, lilikoi butter, mango jam ( for the husband ) and black lava sea salt. I couldn't wait to eat the mochi, it looked sooooo delicious! I got home and cut open the strawberry an mochi, sweet potato/haupia, and the chocolate cream haupia. All three was delicious! I have yet to taste the lilikoi cheesecake, peanut butter, truffle, chocolate cream, and haupia mochi. I'm sure all of it is yummy!
I placed the order on Wednesday and picked it up today. I told the person I'll be there at 2pm, but I was running late and called, and they were sooo nice. I think her name was Karen. She was there when I went to pick up the mochi and she was soooo sweet. I'm definately gonna be going back to buy more mochi's. YUMMY!!!!!

Call me a strawberry mochi whore, I'm a sucker for these. I ordered the Manolo (yes, they named it after him, that lucky bastard!) Party Pack for my New Years day party at my home.
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...
Strawberry Mochi:
Huge ass piece of mochi! Pure heaven. A piece of a kula strawberry, wrapped around yummy an, then the mochi action around it. This is a meal in itself. An - protein, Strawberry - fruit, Mochi - carbs. I actually felt like I wanted to take it all and leave one out, but people know that this is what they are famous for. Grrr...
Truffle mochi:
kinda icky - actually too sweet. A piece of dark fudge truffle and mochi wrapped around it. I guess for me, I was not a fan of this. I took a lil bite and passed it on to Dad. My dad is the mochi disposable garbage man.
PB Mochi:
hmm... too sweet and thick. It's an and crunchy pb as the filling. Its huge, but kinda wasn't feeling this one at that moment. Maybe I needed milk to go with it? The crunchy peanut butter got stuck in my throat, but I was recuperating from a cold, so there was a lot of coughing embarrasing action going for me. Again, that went to dad after the first bite.
Haupia and Choco Haupia:
This is da bomb shit people! FRESH haupia wrapped around mochi. The choco haupia, is chocolate and haupia in the mochi... Pure bliss. You have to try this. My sis and I ate it and didn't share this with mom or dad. heehee
Lilikoi cheesecake:
It was good, sweet and creamy BUT not what I would order or pick out from the pack if I was given a choice. If you like passion fruit, this is for you.
4 stars because the hours were a little weird, the mochi was a wee expensive BUT most (well to me, 96%) of the mochi was sooo oishii. And the best part was that you can put the mochi (well its recommended) in the fridge and the mochi part will not harden. Also, they take credit cards.
Happy mochi eats peeps!

if you want your mochi craving, here is the place to get it!
The haupia mochi is to die for! soft and tasty haupia wrapped in delicious mochi! not too sweet, just right! They also have sweet potato haupia mochi which tastes soo good! the size of each mochi is huge!
We also love the strawberry mochi here! very yummy, taste just as good as the ones from big island!
but the big winner here is the mochi truffles! yes, dark chocolate truffles covered in mochi! Ahhh....sooo good!
The prices are pretty reasonable, ranging @ 5-6 bucks for like 3 huge pieces of haupia mochi...i think the mochi truffles are a little bit more but well worth it!
They also have chi chi dango i've yet to try...

Get the strawberry mochi, and haupia mochi ! The strawberry mochis are a whole damn strawberry put inside this mammoth mochi with the perfect texture and superior flavor.
I've ordered mochi from Made in Hawaii Foods atleast 4 times, and I've always been impressed. Their employees are polite and quick, and you're definately gonna wanna come back.
I like the strawberry and haupia the best, but if you've got a serious sweet tooth then go crazy with the cheesecake, chocolate haupia, and other flavors.
Location: Its in that little small shopping square off Moanalua before the H-1 East freeway entrance when heading from Aiea to Pearl City. It's next to a NAPA auto parts, so pull in that driveway and you'll spot the lil store beside it.

When I first saw their commercial (http://www.youtube.com...), I knew I had to check it out as soon as I could. That adorably cute little girl is my former boss's daughter. Rita and Dina's reviews totally sent me over the edge and I had 'mochi tunnel vision' from that day on.
Everything on their mochi menu (http://madeinhawaiifoo...) looked SO delicious, I temporarily contemplated going broke for just a taste of all of it. Fortunately for the indecisive (like me), they have 3 assorted daifuku (stuffed mochi ball) packs.
I got the Large, which includes 1 piece each of Fresh Strawberry, Truffle, Sweet Potato Haupia, Lilikoi Cheesecake, Chocolate Cream, Haupia, Chocolate Cream Haupia, and Peanut Butter for $14.75. When I placed my order, I asked if I could do substitutions. While they really don't encourage it, they will be happy to do so if there are any food allergies, if you're not changing half the order, and as long as you're willing to pay the difference. So I subbed a Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberry and Peanut Butter Chocolate for the Sweet Potato Haupia and Peanut Butter (with An).
Their store is very easy to miss. I have passed it a million times before and always thought that it was an old run-down warehouse. Coming from Waipahu, I thought I could just pull a U-turn in the far left lane when I saw Buzz's Steakhouse, but ya can't. I thought about doing the illegal, but there was a popo next to me. So I had to turn left, go up the hill, turn into Buzz's parking lot, and came down the hill to get into the right lane. When I pulled up to the parking lot, the Open sign wasn't lit. Holy crap, they couldn't go out of business in 2 days! I freaked out, but called them and asked if they were open. They had just forgotten to turn on the Open sign.
The first half of the store makes you forget you're in a warehouse. Tables covered in skirted white fabric, covered with beautiful gift baskets and locally made goodies. I stopped to take a look. Flavored butters, cream cheeses, jellies, jams... should I? No no, I want my mochi! And there, near the cash register, in the refrigerated case on the right, the heavens opened up, a ray of light shone through, and the angels rejoiced... Mochi!
The friendly old man on the phone actually turned out to be my former boss's father-in-law! Talk about small island. So we chatted a bit while he rang me up. With my substitutions it came to almost $23, but he was so nice, he gave me 10% off, grand total being $19.55. My mouth was salivating as I drove home, in anticipation of the yumminess to come. I took pictures of each one, whole and cut in half.
Fresh Strawberry: I don't even like an but this was good. The large Kula strawberry was crisp, juicy, and just a little bit tart. Complemented the sweet an and soft mochi very well.
Chocolate Covered Fresh Strawberry: Sooooooo freaking good! My bf thought the idea was weird, but he really liked it. I love love love dark chocolate.
Lilikoi Cheesecake: Smooth and creamy with graham cracker crust mixed throughout. We couldn't really taste the lilikoi, but still really ono.
Chocolate Cream: Sweet luscious chocolate. Nuff said.
Haupia: This one is tall because it's two slices of haupia!
Chocolate Haupia: The best of both worlds. Not too sweet, not too sour, but just right.... (you rock if you know where that's from).
Chocolate Truffle: Rich dark chocolate! There seemed to be a slight alcohol aftertaste, but nothing wrong with that!
Peanut Butter Chocolate: Like a Reese's peanut butter cup! Yum.
Oh man, this was one of the best birthday presents I ever got myself! You'd think that when mochi is refrigerated gets hard, but not this. It's soft, sticky, and chewy. And at first the pieces might seem a little expensive, but they use fresh ingredients, and each mochi is handmade and made to order. They're a definite splurge!
[They already have pre-packaged mochi in the refrigerated case, freshly made that day (that's why they open at 12 because they're hard at work) but they may run out. So if you're patient, an order will take 2 days, but mochi isn't available on Mondays and Tuesdays so plan accordingly!]

Saw a small snippet about their Fresh Strawberry Mochi in the Star Bulletin and had to see what this was all about. I've only heard of the stuff but I've never had any. I've even heard they sell 'em at the mochi place in SF's Japantown, but the last time I was there, it wasn't quite season yet, for strawberries!!!
Well guess what??? It's strawberry season and Made in Hawaii Foods has 'em!!! I checked out the website first to see what kind of things they offer and the other mochi flavors.
They also happen to be a gift basket making company.
Anyhow I phoned in our order of fresh strawberry mochi, haupia mochi, and sweet potato haupia mochi. Mochi is only available Fridays- Sundays. And your best bet is to call in an order b/c you might just find the cooler empty of mochi.
I called on a Monday, they're closed on Tuesdays, and our mochi was ready on Friday! As we had planned.
The place is in a strange area, You might miss it. It's right off the freeway in a bit of a warehousey kinda area, there's a sign place, and an auto place, and that's about it.
You walk in and you see all the basket things like jams, jellies, butters, and the likes.
Had to stand in line behind two ladies picking through the Big Island Lychees that were just flown in that morning. The one lady in line thought we came to buy those and boasted that they were the best lychees she had ever tasted in her life. My mom said that if my aunt hadn't already gotten some FREE lychees from my aunt's tree in Mililani, then we would have surely been picking through that box of $5.89 a pound lychees.
And there I saw it, the box with my last name misspelled and asked for the yummy goodness and off we were to come home and enjoy the mochi.
And enjoy we certainly did! Oh man what a lovely combination the mochi, azuki beans, and fresh strawberry make. The mochi so soft and smooth, and the azuki not too sweet to offset the taste of the strawberry.
Oh and the haupia mochi is close to heaven. Dee-liiii-shuz. The sweet potato haupia is awaiting consumption in the fridge. I never thought mochi would taste good cold, but now I think I need it to be cold.
Definitely have a taste if you're in the area, or if you have a mochi fix that you need to fill.
But remember they don't come cheap. They normally run you about $4.75 for 2-3 pieces.
