When Madden's Scott O'Neill suggested I get a better, more expensive door for my garage than the one I requested a quotation on, I thought, here we go, the guy can't help up-selling me - who needs it? I heard him out, though, and I'm glad I did.
Scott reasonably explained that while a cheap door would close my garage, a better door would last longer and look better. After hearing stories of door woes from inlaws with cheap-as-dirt steel doors, I'm glad I listed to Scott and got a double-wall, insulated door. It feels substantial and wasn't a lot more money.
The crew installed it incredibly quickly, were professional to deal with, and did a nice job. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Madden Door again.Comment from Scott O. of Madden Door and Sons 8/30/2011

The entire process was seamless.
Called, made an appointment for an on site consult. Appointment made, owner arrived on time
Quote arrived when they said it would.
Installer arrived when they said he would.
The installation got done in the time they said it would.
The installation looks as good as they said it would.
The door and opener operate as they said it would.
Really, just couldn't ask for anything more - perfect, painless transaction.

Please do call Madden . . . Get their side. The TrippLite internet 750U UPS (retail 65 - 80 bucks) is now my backup battery for my computer, which is the intended use by the manufacturer. I still have the box with the mailing label in my garage. I show it to all my family and friends when they visit and tell them the story. Then I show off my new Garage Door and opener put in by another local competitor.
You will notice that Madden asks you to call for their side. They didn't post it. I didn't hire Madden when they gave me a bid at my old house because the person they sent out was a jerk. I was stuck with them when I bought my current home. I should have gone with my gut and dumped the door after my first bad experience. It would have saved me a bundle.
I would have posted photo's of the UPS and pictures of warped and gummed up parts from the old door, but, alas Yelp does not allow the posting of photos. Too bad.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I've had multiple experiences with Madden. They do a good job when things go well. I have no complaints about that. However, when things don't go as planned, I find that they are condescending and not customer friendly at all. I will not use Madden doors again.

I bought a new home in July 2009 and the old garage door had to be replaced. I contacted Madden Door and their sales rep, Scott, came out and offered me several constructive and worthwhile ideas. In the end I was so pleased with Madden's personalized attention that I ordered a custom door through them. Through every step of the process -- consulting, ordering, installing and follow-up fine tuning -- Madden Door was extremely professional, ethical and customer-service oriented. Such service is a rarity in today's world.
I'm extremely happy with my new door and I'm constantly receiving compliments on it. I have no hesitation when recommending Madden Door to my neighbors, friends and family.
Keep up the good work, Madden Door!!! -

Full service. Quality product. Done right the first time.
My family has used Madden Door for 2 generations, and we will never go back to the "bargain" door vendors out there. What is a "bargain", anyway?
Madden Door is a little bit of an outlier in today's disposable world. They still sell doors that last a lifetime, and they still spend the extra time and effort to ensure they get it right.
There are plenty of "cheaper" options out there, but if you factor in what you will pay over the life of an important piece of your home, you will realize the fantastic value that Madden Door offers.
Don't skimp! Shop smart! -

I had a garage door that gave me nothing but trouble and wanted to find the most reputable, high quality company I could so I wouldn't have to always be calling them to come out and adjust or fix the door as was the problem with the door I had. I had two other bids and although Madden was a little higher, I knew they stood behind their work and would be putting in the best garage door possible. They came out when they said they would, installed it seamlessly and I gotta tell you, I have not had one problem and it's been over 2 years and the garage door still sounds as quiet and smooth as the day they installed it. Yes, it cost a little more, but the quality and their service is well worth it. They are the best.

I stopped in today to pick up a hard to find remote for an older garage door opener circa 1986. Not only did Scott (owner) have the remote at a reasonable price, but he spent about a half hour talking to me about various aspects of garage doors, as I suspect the one I currently have will need to be replaced in the not-too-distant future. Anyway, super great guy. He seems totally down to earth and really instilled in me a sense that he wants to earn his customer's respect and trust, and cares a lot about doing right by them to maintain his reputation and integrity. His dad started the business and still works there, so they've been in the community for about 30 years or so.
I know that when I go to replace my garage door, Madden Door & Sons, Inc. will be my first (and very likely, only) stop. This may sound like an ad, only because I feel very strongly about supporting good, honest business people. If you have any doubt, just talk to or better yet, meet Scott in person, and you'll be a believer. Other staff seem very knowledgeable as well, but Scott is the main person I dealt with.

We have a 1937 house in Berkeley that had its original garage door----including quite a bit of hardware. Madden Door was great. They stuck to their original bid and were efficient and very helpful. We now have a new garage door that they were able to fit, despite it not being a custom size. Highly recommended!!

Five stars becuase they didn't come fix my garage door! Ill explain, I have a Madden garage door that requires a specialized dealer to repair. They have had to come out before to fix my door & have given great service. This time, the man on the phone from Madden Door had me explain what was wrong, and then told ME how to fix it so I "wouldn't have to pay for a service call." - yes, his words. His detailed explanation allowed me to fix the problem (which took 5 minutes and two wipes with some kleenex) & he saved me $75.

We purchased our house a couple years ago and replacing the old garage door and mechanism was one of the last projects to get to after a painful remodel. Wish I made the call earlier. We had three competitive bids, but going with Madden was one of the easiest calls I've had to make on our house. Scott and Kevin were a pleasure to talk to over the phone and in person....not to mention knowledgable, honest, and competitive in price. The installer was also a great guy and I was shocked at how fast and efficient he pulled off the job by himself. It's not a fluke that all of their Yelp reviews are 5 stars. I couldn't be happier with their service and finished product

Prompt, reliable, knowledgeable, and honest. Kevin Madden has owned and operated the company for 30 years. The only door company we have used since then. Highly respected and highly recommended.
