Review from Bill M.

Decided to give this place a shot after seeing it on an earlier run down A1A that ended at JTs (see review).
This place performed very well. Things started nicely when we were given the Early Bird specials menus, then had them revoked, then had them reinstated. All because it was 6:05 and the specials end at 6:00. Customer service adds half a star.
This proved to be economically beneficial as the extensive menu (nice selections that will bring me back) was priced close to twice as much for a dinner portion as the EB specials.
The shrimp and scallop special, blackened, was the choice for both of us. I opted for the cole slaw and potato salad, the wife went with the cole slaw and the vegetable medley.
First the seafood. the 4 shrimp and 4 scallops were big, juicy and very tasty. I know this because the blackening was sparse. That might knock the rating down for some, but in my case, the subtle flavor it added, without overpowering the seafood, was just right.
Now the sides. The potato salad was a winner. Don't think grandma's picnic slime here, we're talking lightly dressed chunks of red potatoes along side bacon (yes, very nice touch), celery, onion and spices. The cole slaw, while not great, was creamy, fresh and tasted of a hint of seasoning, like garlic or onion or both.
Being that I'm from Cleveland Browns territory (on the border of PA though), the decor was, well, appreciated for its "rabid" intent. It was nice to see pierogies on the appetizer menu, a spot above the Tuna Bites and 4 selections below the Gator Tail. Oh, and you can also wash down your Pittsburgher sandwich, complete with fries and slaw on the sandwich (just like Primantis) with an IC or an IC Light.
As for seating, there is an outside option amongst the Spanish Moss draped oaks and palms, but given that it had stormed just an hour earlier, it was too wet. We ended up inside. This is where the 5th star was really lost. It was freezing. This is reminiscent of businesses in Ohio in the summer where they feel the need to "work" the A/C. I can only assume the Pittsburgh connection somehow relates here.
The place isn't as good as JTs, but JTs is a 4.5, if only. -

Best daggone Blackened Grouper I've ever had! The restaurant is small but the service and food was delicious. A good find if you're ever in the Palm Coast area.

Everyone says the blackened grouper here is awesome. So I tried it out with my girlfriend a few weeks ago and it was ok. I actually thought it was a bit undercooked. The service was good. The food is cheap and so is the atmosphere.

Unfortunately, Mad Dogs has succumbed to the financial downturn. No longer in business.

I wanted to like this place -- the proprietor seemed nice -- but the so so food, slow service, and less-than-clean tables added up to a poor dining experience. I won't go back.
