Review Highlights
I am not thrilled with the Macy's empire. Anyone from Minnesota is still pretty sensitive about the Dayton's thing, Strawbridges took the fall out East, and here in Seattle it was The Bon. Goodbye historic department stores, hello corporate buyouts. Something must have improved for someone up there, but down here it seems to have gotten worse for the customer. So why do I shop at Macy's? One word: accessories. The price and selection beats Nordstrom by a landslide. I love great customer service but I will not pay $100 for a headband. Prior to discovering the joy of the first floor I tried shopping for clothes at Macy's and failed miserably. I've never even been in a dressing room at Macy's cause I've never found anything to try on. If you're downtown go anywhere but here for clothes, but accessories are another story!
I highly recommend shopping at Macy's for handbags, watches, belts, sunglasses and jewelry. Huge selection and you can always find something on sale. Maybe not as fashion forward as Nords, but works for me. Service is of course hit or miss. I think most depts don't work on commission and it shows. I am often totally ignored but upon occasion have found extremely helpful and lovely salespeople. Like the girl who cheerfully changed the time and date on my watch on Wed and didn't treat me like an idiot for not figuring it out myself. Or the guy who left his dept to ring me up last summer when he saw I needed help at an unstaffed counter. (Never much luck even being acknowledged in the clothing depts though.)
The shoe dept is a gamble. Sometimes the place is organized, sometimes it's a mess. Sometimes there's a great selection, sometimes lots of empty shelves. Sometimes they are adequately staffed, other times good luck. A couple summers ago I needed a pair of silver shoes for a wedding. It was out of town and I was running out of time. I found a pair at Macy's but they weren't in my size. The salesgirl was gracious enough to help me find a pair at a different store and have them shipped to me. The overnight charges were OUTLANDISH and then I didn't even get the shoes the next day and spent hours trying to get answers from anyone at the store they were supposedly coming from. After they finally arrived I didn't really like them and when I returned the darn shoes I couldn't get the exorbitant overnight charges refunded even though they weren't truly overnighted. Plus there's a screwy system so the salesperson can't go back to the stockroom and get your shoes; no they put an order in some little device and someone else fetches them. It is surely intended to increase efficiency but generally has the opposite effect.
A friend of mine who like the finer things in life swears she gets great deals on high thread count sheets and stuff like that at Macy's. I've never stepped foot in home furnishings but sounds like it might be worth a look, especially if you can use their coupons.
So accessories -- yes, shoes -- maybe, clothes -- no. Service -- may be good, may be nonexistent. Location -- in the heart of downtown and a block from Nordstrom. Oh, and the women's bathroom is worth checking out, or maybe even hanging out in. It's truly from another era, when women's rooms really were lounges. It's a little outdated and could use some renovations but kinda fun on its own.
I like Macy's because they have a really good selection of both women's and men's clothing, and a nice home department, and the service is pretty good compared to other Macy's, although still not that great. The downside to this store is it's always really hot in there for some reason, and no Macy's has very good customer service.
In my mind, Macy's has a major identity crisis when it comes to customer service, especially in the home department. It can't decide if it wants to be a full service department store or a discount type store where you just pick things up and pay for them without a lot of help.
Salespeople rarely greet you or try to help you, then they swoop in right when you are about to pay. So, maybe you are not trying to be a full service department store like Nordstrom. In that case, you should just have a line of cashiers out front like Target, because the "customer service" kiosks are used for everything from simply paying for purchases to returns, etc. In fact, I'd say i generally get better customer service at Target from people working there who are just stocking the shelves and don't even pretend to be trained salespeople.
It's possible to be standing at one of those kiosks for a long time waiting for the ONE salesperson there to help someone else. I end up running around the store to other kiosks, where sometimes no one is even waiting, but that sucks for me, especially when I am in the home department and buying something bulky or heavy.
Another customer service problem: Macy's coupons are like playing the lottery. They look like they are amazing discounts, but there are so many exclusions you can't ever really know if it is going to work or not when you get to the register. The sales racks are jumbled and messy and work this way as well. However, you can have some great moments when you get to the counter and the silk blouse you thought was 29.99 (already a good deal) rings up for like $14 or something.
Expensive butt they have really nice stuff.
It's been YEARS since I've found anything other than baby clothes (a decent selection) and cheap jewelry (always on sale.)
Don't get me wrong, the building itself is a Seattle institution. The Frangos (thanks to Frederick & Nelson) are delicious, the building itself is amazing... and they've actually got a good housewares selection, but that's kind of where it ends. The bottom floor is just so 'blah.'
I don't think I've ever bought anything from their cosmetic dept, and the handbags they seem to carry are neither here nor there for me. It needs a serious remerch and it could stand to be reorganized.
It reminds me of my shopping tyrades in the '90s. No bueno.
The best place to use the restroom in downtown Seattle. You don't even have to buy anything! They even have couches and outlets so you can hang out and read a book and charge your phone if you want! A mirror in each bathroom for God knows what. But why not? Amazing.. Could a girl ask for more?
Plus, The Bon (I can never bring myself to call this place "Macy's" - what a crock!) carries Mariah Carey's "M" and Nordys doesn't!
Could the lighting in your dressing rooms be more hideous? I found some cute clothes to try on, but the mirrors/lighting combo made me want to sign up for lipo, go tanning and get implants. And I'm not even that kind of girl!
For reals, if you invest in some nice lighting, people will buy more because they'll actually like what they see looking back at them in the mirror. It's just common sense.
I cannot believe this store is after San Francisco Union Square Macys as far as size go. Why? I do not see that many selections. It's an old building and not a busy store. It's more like a museum without action going on. I rather go back to the Bay Area to shop at Macys. Women shoes department is a complete mess and associates take a while to get shoes due to a dysfunctional stockroom. Want go more selections and better in trends? Go to Harolds Square or San Francisco Union Square.

I have been to this macys a few times. Does not have much things but is a really nice building. I… Read more »
Having worked for Macy's (RIP!) as an Asst. Buyer, I have intentionally never reviewed a Macy's. But on our recent trip to Seattle, I really wanted to make sure I checked out THE Seattle store because my last set of dresses would be there. Sigh :(. I thought this would be an amazing store b/c it is right next to their former divisional offices (RIP too!), but it was just a step up from the other stores -- definitely NOT comparable to SF Union Square. We walked around the bottom floor which was open and bright, nicer than most other stores but still not so impressive.
We made our way to the top, to the juniors floor, so I could check it out. They have one of the more modern/nicer juniors section which was nice! Our dresses were merchandised well enough, but I moved something around to get it right! What can I say, I know my dresses! The girls working here were chatting and staring, but never once greeted me as a customer.
I think this store is airy/open/bright, which is nicer than most other stores stuck inside of malls. This is one of the few locations that has the added FAO Schwartz in it which we popped into but received NO customer service b/c the man working looked bored and walked into the backroom as soon as we walked in so we were in the store alone.
While I know the customer service can be hit or miss and the store decor is in a constant state of improvement, I will say that Macy's is the one place that is always reliable and always gives the best value/price to the customer. There is something to be said about that. This is a big store and is pretty nice, but still has so much potential.
I was happy to stop by here.
Ok, this review is not about all of Macys downtown, just the fine jewelry department. So far I have been at their counter 3 times, and 2 of those times were seriously lacking in customer service.
Trip 1: I noticed around Valentines Day that the fine jewelry department was having a great sale on all diamond jewelry, being that my fiance and I were looking for wedding bands I thought I'd take a look. I walked around the counter for roughly 4-5 minutes before someone asked me if I needed help. I responded yes, I'd like to look at the wedding bands, and I got a "sure thing I'll be right there." After standing in front of the wedding bands for 5 minutes waiting for her to join me I began to circle again, the woman had started helping another freaking customer, who got there after me! I was pissed, and when she caught my eye she told me she'd be with me in just a minute. Needless to say I walked away.
Trip 2: This was the glorious trip... the wonderful Bella helped Mitchell and I pick out beautiful wedding rings and helped us get some wicked deals. All in all we got over 60% off on both of our rings. Bella was attentive and patient with us, showed us every ring we wanted to see and made recommendations on ones to check out. She was incredibly sweet and nice. Mine we were able to take home, but Mitchell's needed to be specially ordered.
Today, trip 3: Again I walk up to the counter in CLEAR view of not one, but 2 sales associates. After one walks away, the other one yells at me from where she is with another customer to ask me what I need. I say I'm here to pick up a wedding band, and she ditches the customer she's with and comes over and asks me which one I'd like to see. I say NO, I'm here to PICK UP a wedding band, as in one that I had ordered. She looks at me a bit confused, then catches on and tells me to come with her. She then informs me that I was standing in the wrong place at the counter and that I could never expect to get service standing at that part of the counter. My bad, I thought standing by all the diamonds would be a good place to stand.... apparently the in front of the Coach watches is better location.
At any rate she has NO idea how to ring up my order. I pull out my receipt that shows I made a down payment and what my remaining balance is. She cannot figure it out, nor can the other woman who is coming over to help her. At this point some dude is now on the other side of the fine jewelry dept and is making eyes at me. Then he tries to mouth questions to me across the department, I promptly take out my cell phone and call Mitchell to complain and the dude walks away.
By this point a manager has come over and they STILL cannot figure it out. I at one point ask "Isn't this what you guys do in this department, order nice jewelry for people and have them pick it up when it comes in?" I get a curt response that in 5 years this is only the 4th special order she has dealt with.
Finally after almost 25 minutes I have Mitchell's ring in hand, and an added discount of $92. The woman tries to tell me that Bella screwed up her math and miscalculated our discounts, when I look at my receipt it says "Thank you for using your Macys card. We gave you a 15% discount on your purchase for using it." Can we say MORONS?
The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because Bella is wonderful and because the discounts we got were amazing. We seriously saved over $1000 on our rings, and they're beautiful. So, take my advice, if you're heading to the fine jewelry counter, be very patient, and ask for Bella.
There's so many things on sale. Ornaments, jewelry and pajamas are the best deals at 40 to 50% off regular price. I'm not sure if it's just a regular Macy's Saturday Sale or throughout the holiday season. But it's terrific!
If you're indecisive.... make a list and check it twice, before heading over. Otherwise, you could spend all day walking around and wondering about what to purchase.
I dont know if this store was trying to save a little $$ because it was hot as hell up in the store. The moment we walk in we were taken away by how hot it was. So we immediately left right after. The outside breeze felt better than inside. The store was pretty dead and not a lot of shoppers.. hmmm I wonder why?
They used to be the Bon.
now they are a major materialistic consumer money suck
I was sad.
They have an entire department larger than my apartment building dedicated to Coach bags!
I wandered the upstairs womens clothing floor looking for turtle necks. They cost more here than at L.L. Bean.
The coats.. good ones for the weather are 50% off... from 190.00.
I am glad I shop other places.
This review is specific to the service I received at the watch counter.
I received a fabulous watch as a gift for my birthday. I needed to have a few links removed so I waddled on down there on a day off work and stood around looking for some help.
A woman came to my rescue and was really helpful and kind. I appreciated that she tended to me even though the service she was offering was free. She even managed to help a few other customers at the same time (which I didn't mind because I wasn't buying anything). She managed to juggle all of us and keep everyone happy.
Usually watch counters are bad experiences. There's no one to help, they're tied up with someone else, or they are just not friendly. At Macy's the experience was exactly as I hoped it would be. Simple, fast, and efficient. If you're in the market for a watch - go here! If for any reason you need to go back I'm sure they'll be helpful.
Frangos!!! Now that its the holidays, i eat them like they are going out of style, really need an intervention of some sort.
Dr Drew help me, I am the original STEVE O, so help a fella out will ya.

In case you ever wonder why Macy's stock is going into the toilet, I whole heartedly welcome you to visit this store. You'll be met by a store in utter disarray, employees that, well, have better things to do and a shopping experience that could be compared to going to the dentist for a root canal.
Really, I know Macy's is supposed to be a discount shop, but no where in all my executive experience have I seen written where customer service is the last factor in running a successful business. Maybe I just didn't get the memo.
Back to Nordstrom I go!
Macy's. I used to work for one when I was in Oregon and they were called Meier and Frank. I learned one thing and that is that PEOPLE ARE BITCHES. Why are people so mean to absolute strangers?
Anyway, this is more for the benefit counter @ macy's. One of the ladies who works there.. I just adore her. ERIKA. if you go, she'll glam you up and make you look cute and she's crazy silly. Best customer service ever. I'll be walking by the purses section, she'll spot me and make me sit down to put make up all up on me. I don't wear make up often.
Anyway, you should visit her, she's fantastic.
We came to Macys because it was on Stella's must see list, she wanted to visit a store that she has been buying for. We got to peruse through the floors and it's actually a pretty big store. It's very clean and spacious. I was a little confused about the floors though because usually towels/kitchen stuff is on a seperate floor or in "the cellar" but they had theirs mixed with the juniors department. They also have a mini FAO Schwarz store within. We went in and played around with the dolls. The customer service was lacking there because he was reading a newspaper while we were there, and then he actually even left us in the store alone while he went to the backroom.
Macy's saved me from a five hour escapade in the convention center watching teenage boys pushing their girlfriends around in Anime-inspired tramp-wear. I am eternally grateful to Macy's for helping me persuade my little sister to forget the mile and a half lines .
Sure everyone gets tired of mono-chromy print shirts and bizarre rectangular faux, faux costume jewelry( a plastic parody of costume jewelry is enough to make me want to become a Mennonite) mounted on necklines in any place but the Juniors or children's department...but despite some passing bad fashions , Macy knows whats going on.
Clean, generally polite and yes, not always professional. I too had some customer service rumbles in my hour long visit. Older women working there seemed more than annoyed I paid with ( my little sister's birthday/Anime convention) cash and as a result were very rude, neigh on murderous.
Everyone hates it when you go to enjoy yourself at a store, and the checker or salesperson seems to be saying you don't "deserve" to shop while they ring you up. So yeah, obviously that pretty much ruined the whole trip. Until we went to another section and they were very, very, polite and helpful and never once slammed an item into a bag while looking at us like we were over-entitled whelps. ( We bought two shirts BTW. )
Bad service in Women's, good service in Juniors.
Need to go to the bathroom downtown? Lucky!
You get to hang out in the Macy's bathroom. With it's movie star lighting, circle of sinks, marble floors, and gold accents, it is nicer than any other bathroom downtown.
And the stalls are all their own little rooms. With full doors, a built in shelf, and mirror, they are probably as big as my whole bathroom.
There is also a posh lounge area with velvety couches and great atmosphere. Go downstairs and grab some Frango's and hang out on the couch for a while. Or don't, it's still a bathroom.
Oh how I love The Bon, I mean Macy's, I still have a hard time calling it Macy's. Anyways I do like Macy's they always have things I need and things I didn't know I needed on sale and if you wait a week it will be on clearance and even cheaper. Working downtown really helps with keeping an eye on these things. With their new sticker bar code systems it's super easy to return things without a receipt, not as easy as Nordstrom's but still easy and hassle free, at least for me.
The makeup counter 'girls' are always willing to make me beautifier or clean me up a bit if I get invited to a last second happy hour and my face is a mess. Also if I'm having a bad day I can walk in, especially to the Benefit's counter and say make me feel better and poof with a swish of a brush and a swirl of a gloss I feel a million times better.
Oh don't get me started on the Coach section. I love me some Coach and they always have Coach on sale currently there's this cute chocolate brown hobo bag on their Coach sale table that has my name on it. I think I might tell the ex-boy if he wants in on my good graces to get it for me for my b-day since its only 22 days away. If any of you go get it I will hunt you down and steal it from you I will I really will.
Macy's also always has a lot of great free events that go on you can find out about on their website and sign up. It's how I got to hear Tim Gunn from Project Runway say "Make it work" live and in person as well as see Angela from PR Season 3 in one of her 80's bubble skirts. They also have shoe events and make-up events and fashion shows listed, all are pretty cool and if you end up buying something that night you end up with a cool goodie bag filled with all kinds of fun things.
Macy's also has the ultimate ladies room to have a meeting in. Each stall is it's on little cubbie hole some even have their own sinks. They are large enough to turn around in and each have a counter and mirror so you can check yourself out before heading to the lounge area. Yes I said lounge area, they have arm chairs and couches in there for you to relax and a take a break from all the shopping you've been doing all day.
The only downside to Macy's is their shoe area, the help SUCKS yes they sure do. And if a shoe sale is going on FORGET about trying to get some help all you'll get is attitude. I still go for shoes but I try to schedule my shoe shopping time when I'm relaxed and don't have to be anywhere at any time than head out for a cocktail or seven after wards sometimes I do the cocktails before hand which can make for an exciting shoe shopping trip if you ask me.
So shopping at the Downtown Macy's, vs the Bellevue Macy's, is like the difference between... well.. Baghdad and New York City.
Bellevue Macy's just doesn't seem to want my money. In fact, they act like they're really pissed off that I'd dare come in and disturb them to buy anything. See my Bellevue Macy's review for more.
On the much brighter other hand, the service at the Downtown Macy's has always been exceptional for me. Whether I'm buying men's toiletries, a watch, a suit, shoes, clothes, furniture, housewares, or a gift for my wife/female friends/female relatives, each staff member that I've interacted with in all those departments has been really great.
Their crowning achievement: My wife wanted a 'honeycomb' textured, white bathrobe, similar to what you'd find in an upscale hotel. I went all over town -- Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Nordstrom. Even the Westin's gift shop. No one had it. I headed over to Macy's. They had one, but it was a gift with a $50 purchase of women's underwear.
The clerks were VERY helpful in assisting me to somehow manage to get this robe without necessarily having to buy the underwear. From working out a solution with the store manager, to running upstairs to find one in stock... they were awesome. I'll go back again anytime.
Macy's had a sale on All-Clad: 20% off. I wouldn't buy Le Creuset here, it's easier to shop at City Kitchen since they're able to drastically reduce their seasonal merchandise.
But when doesn't this store *not* have a sale? Srsly.
The bathroom is bigger than my apartment. It is also better furnished.
I felt a little like Lana Turner or Veronica Lake while I peed.
Three stars for that alone.
The sales staff did not punish me for daring to shop in comfortable clothes.
An extra star for not being self-important a**holes.
I miss the Bon Marche, having shopped there since I was a tot, but I can deal. They still have Frangos and Santa, and they have added a lot of things as Macy's that are a huge improvement. Girl stuff, mostly, since I don't pay much attention to boy stuff: new cosmetic brands (like BeneFit), a whole dedicated Coach section (even though I'm over Coach now that everyone and their mother has one), and especially the Impulse section for 20 somethings who have outgrown Juniors but feel too young/hip for the INC stuff (featuring jeans you've heard of like Sevens, and C + C California tees). I love their semi-secret sales where before 1pm certain racks are an extra 60% off. Holy hell it is awesome. I love seeing 'You Saved $297.54' at the bottom of my receipt, especially when I have only spent $78.
Customer service is definitely on the upswing at Macy's, particularly downtown. For all wedding gifts I go see the ladies in the fine china department. With their assistance I am sometimes able to take care of all the upcoming summer weddings at one time! They wrap, they ship, they make suggestions for gifts, and they make sure you get all available sale prices. You do have to frequently seek out and request assistance at Macy's, but you get fabulous service when you do. And that allows me to browse unencumbered by sales people when I'd rather go it alone.
My girlfriend is getting married in September, and got her dress at Macy's bridal. They will store it for you until your wedding, keeping it safe from prying fiance eyes and potential disasters at home. And they let you visit it as often as you wish, very important to brides.
Watch for Toni's cooking demonstrations on the 6th floor in the Macy's kitchen. She does amazing things with Frangos! And definitely get the Macy's card. You get hooooked up - 7 free gift wraps every year, extra 15% off on sale days, and sweet coupons in the mail.
Macy's has lost a customer. Ordered on-line and never received the goods. After numerous phone calls/emails, etc. they refunded the amount I paid in a Macy's CARD! Like I would want to do business with them again?! I realize Nordstrom has higher prices, but it is WORTH it for the good customer service that they provide.
At first I didn't shop here at all because Macy's is in the old Bon building, but its not that bad. I was quite happy with the first few things I got here and the prices were good on sale. You also didn't have to be a card member to get the sales like at some places, even though they have sales for them also. They usually have a variety of items on sale, but its silly when a snobby woman is in line and wants to yell at you when there are two different registers and say there's only one line. The guy that worked the register sevearl times when I was in was really good at providing service and so overall I'm willing to give Macy's a little more of a try. The only thing is sometimes its hard to tell if the sale price is on the label already or not, staff are good about checking prices and not pushy.
Macy's! You know, I have finally trained myself to call it that now instead of The Bon. It's kind of like when the Colosseum went crashing down and they put up Key Arena?! Who in their right mind would call it that? Well, everyone I know is calling it the Key now... so who's laughin?
On to the review!
Macy's! They have a little something for everyone, and everything. From handbags, to makeup, to fine china, to mattresses! Of course the clothes, too! I recently came down to this location to pickup my brother's wedding gift. It was really easy to find the registry list, find the item and be on my way.
They also have the Hotel Collection of sheets and towels. If you are there, check it out. Probably the softest thing you have ever felt.
The only section that really needs an overhaul is the shoe dept. Both men and women. They have some of the worst displays and worst selection ever. They carry my Roxy sandals so I'll stop in to get those, but I'll head to Nordy's to do my shoe shopping.
I'd like to respectfully and fervently disagree with Michelle B about Macy's ladies' restroom. Yes, it's lounge-like and each stall is more like a dressing room, but I honestly don't think the whole thing has been altered since whenever it was built -- it looks straight outta 1980. Cheap pink plastic toilets, rickety dressing room doors, and sinks with individual hot/cold knobs. And the seats in the "lounge"? Either don't sit on them or don't look too closely at the stains.
As for the store itself, the purse, shoe, and sock departments are always reliable. They have pretty good jeans, but everything else is crap-on-a-stick -- but I blame the trend-chasing fashion world for that.
They have tons of Men's suits for sales Weekly. Bought a nice BCBG suit for 699. Nice, I will model for your entertainments soon.
I like Macy's for their sales! They always have them and sometimes there are additional discounts if you use your Macy's Card. Their staff is pretty helpful too. An associate offered to give me one of his friends and family coupon (he gets 2) so I can get a discount on an expensive jacket I wanted. I didnt end up getting it but that was nice of him.
Also, whats with the tv screens in the bathroom stalls? They show actual shows and not just ads. Thought that was kind of wierd.
I was never a big fan of Macy's in New York and the one downtown formerly know as the "Bon" isn't any better.
It is lit poorly and it makes nothing appealing in there. Not even the Coach or Kate Spade bags. I always come in here thinking I will enjoy shopping, but I end up being dissapointed.
Our trip this time was to find some pants for the younger son because he seems to be growing like a weed. We found some things that will do and we headed down to shop for some odds and ends for me. NOTHING! The way it is laid out and there selection makes me need a stiff drink or really strong latte.
The only time I like coming here which is why it is getting any stars at all is the After Xmas Sale when I get ornaments.
I honestly do not know why I keep coming here. I think I like to secretly torture myself. Let me explain. Shirt size I wear about a medium and pants 32-32. Now either I have a very common size in Seattle or Macy's can't order product. For me this is like going into a coffee shop and them telling me I can have coffee but they don't carry cups. I rarely have this problem when I go to Nordstrom, Gap, Old Navy and H&M. As a matter of fact I NEVER have this problem when I go shopping outside of Washington state. I will say though and bless her little heart I was helped by a lady in the men's dept towards the back but they didn't have the kind of pants I was looking for. For her being nice and trying to help me even though I was being a cunt the store gets two stars. If it wasn't for her patience negative 100 stars for Macy's. Oh one more thing! What the hell is up with the ventilation on the main floor? All those perfumes freaking reek to high haven! Nordstrom has just as many counters of the stuff and they seem to be able to keep the smell to a bare minimum! Just another reason why I do not like shopping at Macy's and will go to Nordstrom when I can afford it.
First of all, I like Macy's. I usually shop here because the clothes are nice and affordable to me. I also watch about a minute of their parades, and since I hate parades, watching for a minute is a good thing.
But what I am about to say is not directed at this particular Macy's, but they are going to get it because this is the Macy's I went to today.
There was a coupon in the paper for $10 off one purchase on regular, sale or new reduction items (excludes Morning Specials). Sweet, because I am a poor man and I could use that $10 elsewhere. It was a little surprising to me that I was unable to use the coupon today. I took a closer look and noticed other things that were excluded:
Everyday Values; Specials/Super Buys; Cosmetics and Fragrances; Ralph Lauren/Polo; Tommy Bahama; Tommy Hilfiger; Calvin Klein; I.N.C.; The North Face; Burton; Lacrose; Levis/Dockers; DKNY; T Tahari; Michael Kors; Kate Spade; Lucky Brand; NYDJ; Impuse Shop; Charter Club/Club Room; Cashmere; American Rag; Selected Young Men's Contemporary Brands; Selected Men's Designers; Tasso Elba; Material London; Kids Designer Collections; Coach; Dooney & Bourke; Designer Handbages & Shoes; Designer Intimates & Sleepwear; Watches; Designer Sunglasses; Fine Jewelry Special Collections; Maternity; Electrics & Electronics; Vera Wang; Waterford; Baccarat; Lalique: Llandro; Regular Price Crystal & Silver; Designer Linens; All-Clad; Henckels: Wusthof; Furnature; Mattresses; Area Rugs; Holiday Lane; Lease & Service Depts; Gift Registry Kiosk: Zoom products; Special Orders; Macy's Gift Cards; payment on Credit Accounts and Online Purchases.
So, what the shit can I use it on? Regardless of the coupon, there were a lot of good sales and I will be coming back, hence the three stars But this coupon is just redonkulous!
Zipzap Zubidy Bop!
So, this review is about the women's shoe department specifically. The shoe sales people carry hand held devices that they scan the bar code on the shoes to find out exactly what they have in stock. No more sitting around for minutes waiting for the sales people to come back and say that they don't have it in your size. GREAT method. I was able to purchase 3 pairs of shoes in under 10 minutes!
Ok, the service here is really hit or miss and most of the time it's a miss.
The only time I've had really great service is in the Impulse Department, and even then, it's only half the time. Associates are either missing or stalking me the whole time just so they can get my sale. It's ridiculous how there is barely ever a happy medium. Don't get me wrong, I am not a hard person to please!
Yes, Macy's has great deals, therefore I guiltily have a BLACK card, which allows me to have 18 free services a year. To make a long story short, I tried to get several pairs of jeans altered and it was the worst 4 week transaction ever. The alterations lady was rude, refused to alter my jeans because they were "dirty" (except I can't wear them because they are 5 inches too long!), the manager I contacted went out of town and didn't update me on what was going on, etc. What happened in the end was that I picked up my jeans, they were not altered and Macy's gets a crappy review! Woohoo!
I just love Macy's. I get almost all of my clothes there. Namely, my favorite department is the area across or next to (depending on where you are) INC. It's the area that sells seven jeans, Michael Kors, Free People, and other big name brands that are entirely adorable. They even have petite Joe jeans for shorties like me. Now some of you may say "that department is expensive!" Well my answer to that is - sale rack. They have sales that if you hit the right day, you could get 65% off something. For example, I saw a $328 double breasted, wool French Connection coat. It was beautiful and fit me perfectly, but I wasn't going to spend that much. I came back a week or two later, 65% off. If you are a deal watcher, this place is the place to go. Love it!
I returned an item received last Christmas in January at the store and I received a frigid stare when I asked for the refund. I don't know where all the rave reviews above come from, all I know is the staff I met in the sleepwear department were rude and snotty to me.
There is always a sale at Macy's. If there isn't, wait 3 days and there will be. The sales are really great, especially if you have a Macy's card. I know the apr is really high, but you can make a payment right at the register as soon as you are finnished. This is one of the only places I can go to find the clothes that I like, that don't cost a ton. Nordstrom's is too expensive, as well as most of the botique shops are downtown. This is where I come to do my shopping.
If you are a woman and you are in downtown Seattle, you must take a trip to the Bon Marche bathroom on the second floor. It actually has a plaque in it because it won the best bathroom in the country award one year. Seriously. Each of the 20 or so stalls have a real door and a counter and mirror. . .and then when you wash up, you are basked in the kind of light that you only find in broadway dressing rooms. After you do all that you can sit down in the lounge and ponder you next move. Go for the bathroom, if nothing else.
I hate going to the Bon. Once in awhile I have to go there for necessities, especially since their prices are usually less expensive than Nordstrom and they have a home section. Their customer service is completely crappy however. They have a huge shoe selection but their displays and floor arrangement is so shotty. Everything is cluttered and hard to find.
