Very convenient - they're an easy three block walk from my apartment, so I got all my kitchen appliances and utensils there, and the prices aren't unreasonable either.

They also have various food demonstrations from time to time. The one I went to was about pairing wine with food - and they kept refilling my glass whenever it got empty...

The macys cellar is a go-to lunch spot for me. And although I am still heartbroken over the loss of Toms cookies and Jamba Juice, I love the variety of restaurants. It gets a little crazy around lunch time but its usually a quick wait and well worth it.

Andy has been making the freshest sushi at this Woffgang Puck sushi bar since they opened in 1997. I have eaten there almost every week since that time. They have discounted prices on rolls ($5) and beer/wine during "happy hour" 5-8. The sake is hot and the prices are great. I don't even shop at Macy's. I just go there for the great food. Sitting at the bar you end up talking with the other customers, most of whom are tourists. It's a fun, comfortable place where you can go alone or with a group.

Today is a day when I'm going to slit someone in their throat if he or she comes near me.

Today is a day in which someone will get shanked if he or she touches me.

Today is a day...

p.s. - I bought new knives from here.  Their names? Stab Me, Shank Me, Bloodshed, and The Funeral.

It's usually a biotch to find seating here in this bustling cafeteria but it's pretty sweet and convenient.  Grab a beverage if you are parched and grab and bar seat at the sushi bar.  It can take a few hours to go through all the stuff at Macy's.  It's nice to know that you don't have to go far for a quick snack.  Sometimes I just run outside and grab a hot dog from the cart.  So good!

After you're done shopping for your home kitchen needs, relax and enjoy a pizza from Wolfgang Puck's Express, drink some Orangina, cap it off with a scoop of super fudge chunk from Ben and Jerry's, then drop off mail and ship stuff out from the post office.

All in the same floor!

I can't believe anyone would go to The Cellar  unless it was a DIRE EMERGENCY.  Like you can't stand Macy's soundtrack, or you have a grumpy whiney child or other wise insensitive companion
Yes, indeed you can hide in a corner at Boudin's, but you will still be depressed at the bad lighting, awful food,  and un-bussed dirty tables
and less-than-fresh food.
One would be better off at Tad's, and much better off at Original Joe's
A child is happy with a pretzel or a hot dog from the vendors outside
Macy's Big store, or a donut outside the Men's store.

I have spoken.

Love the fact that this is located at the bottom of all of the shopping...

I love going to the Jamba Juice here, going to the Post Office, and then browsing through the Macy's kitchen section here.

I have not had the chance to try the food...but I am sure I am not missing much...

I am surprised I've only gotten to this review now because I used to have to eat here at least once a week.  It is where I got addicted to Boudin's crack, I mean, Spring Salad, and have eaten far too much of drenched-in-butter-gravy-oil Wolfgang Pucks.

If you are in a hurry, stick to Boudin's or the even the pizza aisle at Wolfgang's.  However, if you go to the middle aisle/entrees & pastas at Wolfgang's you are doomed.  In my retail past, I've seen most of my allotted lunch hour sucked away standing in line waiting for such complicated delicacies as Chicken Fingers and Fries here.  And, make no mistake about it, the "healthier" options liked baked chicken or salmon pasta are smothered in cream, butter, and oil.

When I'm tired from shopping in Union Square, I head to Macy's Cellar, located on the basement floor of Macy's.  If you need some sugar to re-energize yourself, what better more can you ask for than to have Ben & Jerry's, Tom's Cookies, and Jamba Juice all next to each other!  If that's not enough, you can take the elevator to Cheesecake Factory.

They also have lunch places like Wolfgang Puck, Boudin, and a sushi bar, but the Cellar is so congested I prefer to come here to pickup sweets and eat at Union Square (when it's not raining).

Macy's cellar is convenient for a quick bite to eat when you are power shopping in Union Square.

The sushi place has a bar and the prices are not too bad. The food is only ok.

Wolfgang Pucks is fine ... but like others have said, it can take a long time and it is not very healthy.

Tom's fresh baked cookies are good.

When friends come to visit, they like the soup in a bowl at Boudin.

You can use your Macy's credit card and that makes it easy. If you are a preferred card member, you can get a few hours of free parking in the Union Square parking garage with validation at the gift wrap department in Macy's on the 5th floor.

This place has saved me one too many times during my food starved moments at Union Square, when I realized I hadn't eaten because my shopping pangs were louder than the stomach growls.

The food court can get a little busy which means you'll have to share tables with strangers sometimes.  When all you need is to feed yourself, nothing matters.  Boudin Bakery and Wolfgang Puck are my personal favorites.  Boudin Bakery's chicken walnut salad sandwich is great.  For those who want a lighter fare, they also offer assorted croissants.  Wolfgang Puck's pastas are my favorites.

A great pit stop for those hungry shoppers with a few measly minutes to spare between stores.

I have vowed to never ever ever return here.  Twice.  This is it though, I swear - I am through.

0 stars for speed, taste and value for all vendors here.  One star for very entertaining people watching especially in the evening.  I have no idea where these people come from or how they manage to go through out life.  Except for the overly made up ones, I have a pretty good idea how they exist.

Went to the Cellar for a quick snack and to recharge the batteries after a shopping frenzy.  We decided that the french fries at Wolfgang Puck's would be a good choice.  Turns out it was as good as poking out my left eye.  As others have said, avoid the MIDDLE line at Wolfgang Pucks!  The cooks are trying to construct some intricate meals and this can result in long delays.  My complicated order of french fries left them baffled and in their confusion, they gave the fries to another customer.  Nice.  Will consider eating lipstick at Clinique counter before coming back.

Only been here twice, both for Wolfgang's pizza 'deal' meal thingy..

Basically, it's that small-but-fancy pizza, a side of soup or salad, and a fountain drink for about 7 bucks..

Pretty simple.. Seemed good at the time and for the semi-fancy-ness..

On both occasions, the chef seemed pretty pissed, but the employees at the register are cool..

It's all pretty much (almost) usual food-court faire, but in a smaller, confined space with no light to the outside world..
But if you're quite the shopper at Macy's and is working up an appetite, this is Macy's best way to keep you in..

For something a little more fancy, go to the roof.. granted, The Cheesecake Factory is only so-so too, but with a view!

Not your typical food court nor your regular culinary hangout place, but good enough to grab a quick bit for lunch while shopping at the mall. I just went to WGP for lunch. They redesigned the menu and cleaned up their plastic utensils. Also, they increased the price. Oh well, It's still not bad for lunch.

So the Macy's Cellar is not known for it's culinary delights, but I often find myself there when I need a bite to eat and a little downtime before I head into rehearsal which is usually always downtown. I like this place because it's fairly small compared to the overwhelming food court in the Bloomies mall and it's never packed, so I can sit for as long as I want and not be bothered. I usually go for either a soup and caesar salad combo from Wolfgang Puck's or a clam chowder from Boudin's. Both items are tasty enough and a much better option than say Burger King, but the new Rick Bayless Mexican outfit....meh. The tortilla soup and chicken tamale were super bland. I should have known. Tsk tsk on me.

Wolfgang Sucks big time... but Boudin's rocks and Bambi scored on a Veuve Cliquot purse (really looks like a ladies bag but has the champagne and 2 champagne flutes) for a gift recently. And yes you can use your Macy's card to purchase stuff from all of the restaurants in the cellar.

Macy's Cellar is my favorite part of Macy's.  Tom's Cookies are super fantastic, Wolfgang Puck is good comfort food (when I feel like standing in line!  Oy!), and Boudin makes good sandwiches--particularly the turkey & havarti or the "California" veggie--and delicious soups and salads.  I prefer an uncrowded Cellar, myself, so hooray for the food court at the Westfield!  Here's a tip for those just stopping by to use the bathroom: don't use the one IN the food court area.  Use the one in the kitchen appliances section, near the big safe.  It's never crowded and totally clean!

Check out the sushi bar in the cellar from 5pm-close Monday-friday since all regular rolls are half priced.  You can't take it to go but it's a pretty pleasant dining experience for a food court.   You can also use Macy gift cards for payment.

Where else can you get some soup in a bread bowl, a yummy cookie and some jamba juice all within 30 feet of each other? The only downside is this place is usually crowded and it looks a little dirty at times.  It sure beats the over crowded, over priced cheesecake factory any day!

When shopping solo, I head to Macy's Cellar to nosh a yummy sandwich at Boudin. The turkey croissant with avocado is enough to merit a yearly pilgrimage to the busy eatery in the heart of this multi-story department store.

I think this is a nice alternative to eating at the food court in the mall.  It's not as busy or crowded and has some different choices.  I've only been to Tom's, Jamba Juice and WPE...I want to try the sushi place next time.

This place gets too crowded and feels too commercial, but I like it. It's a throwback to the department store shopping days of yore when you'd go out shopping, then sit down for a snack break with your hat boxes before picking up to shop some more. For a more classic, streamlined alternative, head over to the Nordstrom cafe at the SF Centre.

boudins? jamba juice? ben and jerry's? tom's cookies? wolfgang puck?

what to choose?!! everything seem so good!

it gets really busy during the weekend, but what place isnt busy?

Macy's Cellar is a great alternative from eating at Cheesecake Factory but i assume their business went down a litte bit because of the new food court inside Westfield.

This food court has a really good variety of quick food: Wolfgang Puck Express with yummy pizzas, Boudin, Ben & Jerry's, Jamba Juice, Tom's Cookies.   I had 1/2 of a chicken pesto sandwich, Caesar salad, and a pop for $7.25 from Wolfgang Puck's.  It was pretty good although the sandwich was really garlicky and the salad had too much dressing.  I just ordered the wrong thing, though.  The quality was good.  I'll definitely be back when I need fuel for shopping.

WOLF GANG PUCK EXPRESS IS THE ULTIMATE MOUTH WATERING QUICK BITE EVER!! mm, everytime I'm in SF I HAVE to come here! Honey smoked turkey sandwich is the best. I'm craving it as I type! They put this delicious caper dressing sauce in it that will never let me stop thinking of it.. I'm so sad that they don't have a wolf gang express around my area. =( Although i've only tried that sandwich, fries, chicken tenders/mash potatoes and mac n cheese...their entire menu sounds absolutely delicious! I always see what others are ordering and I want to try it also but I could never get over the honey smoked turkey. Their fries are the best! Skinny fries that are just right, crispy on the outside and nice mashed potatoey on the inside. AND the ranch is the thick and creamy kind I like. YUM!

What can I say?  I like being able to grab a few different kinds of food - ice cream, soup in a sourdough bread bowl, cookies, smoothies, sushi all near each other.  For a quick lunch on my 30 minute break, this sets me up well. The sushi is also 50% off for rolls between 5-7 which is awesome when I work the night shift. The service at all of the places is bad, the area isn't kept clean, but what can you really expect - it's the Macy's foodcourt.

This has always been a good place to enjoy a more fancier lunch in the shopping area. I always come with a group of friends after an exhausting day of shopping to enjoy a bread bowl of clam chowder and wash it down with a cup of Jamba Juice. The atmosphere is great, but like always, it's very crowded during the lunch hour. The prices down here are rather expensive, but hey its worth it for the food and quality. The bread bowl with soup tastes great and warms you up. They serve it very quickly and with great customer service. The Jamba Juice line is rather long, but it's worth it for the great smoothie you're getting. The other places down there are decent but rather expensive and smaller portions. Other than that, I find that it's a great place to just wind down and enjoy a meal with a group or relax and read a book.
